You are at fault.why wait for close to 9hrs before u were debited? The minute u noticed your phone missing u should have gone to the nearest first bank to block the account.

Did your friend save his account details in his SIM Card? How was it that it was that easy to just transfer his money to another account with just his SIM card maybe? Where are the bankers here pls.

Yes, bank will never disclose the fraudster information to you but if you can report the matter to the police station and if they are ready to investigate the matter the fraudster will be produce.

CBN has a customer complaints department, search for their e-mail/contacts, that's the fastest route bro; copy efcc too. Best wishes

Good day people , I want to report a case of theft and bad security , my friends phone was stolen in a bus ,take note, this phone was passworded , so he felt SAFE ! , ONLY TO RECEIVE THE SHOCK OF HIS LIFE, his FIRST BANK ACCOUNT HAD BEEN DEBITED , IN LESS THAN 9 HOURS , how could this be , a bank that parades itself as one of the best , be so easily breached ! , That means , the only thing protecting any customers account is their phone and not the bank ! , I was annoyed when he told me this , a certain HARRISON ONYEKACHI IS THE SUSPECT , we went to the bank for help and they told us they can't do anything but block the account , is this fair ? They have refused to help us , FIRST BANK has refused to help us track down the suspect , please moderators , help this reach the front page , many other individuals should know the level of protection that FIRST BANK provides them , I attached a screenshot and a PDF of the fraud .

Re: My Phone Was Stolen And My Firstbank Account Was Debited Without My Pin ! by Nobody: 9:01am On Feb 28, 2019
But the thief is an idiot grin if these guys are serious they can easily track down the suspect (probably someone who picked up the sim somewhere), that's why I always advice people to cancel mobile banking, or use a different number for it (sim being in a Nokia torch you won't loose) if the suspect was smart enough he would've bought recharge cards with it and sold it here on niaraland lol

NB
If your sim goes missing be swift as possible to deactivate your line else nothing you can do, cos they can use it to activate mobile banking in your phone, theifs don't only steal phone nowadays

You passworded your phone but didn't password your SIM. Hence your SIM is linked to your account anybody that has it can easily remove it from your phone, put in another phone and gain access to your account.
Do not blame your bank because it's still the same SIM that will receive the alert and OTP if needed and the criminal has it in his possession.

What they usually do is to purchase airtime from the account using the *904# ussd code. It works for all banks if I'm not mistaken.

Next time try and activate pin code or sim lock on your SIM.

Any transaction requires a pin , but this person could not have known it , so the issues lies on firstbank to show us how it happened on their end .

this is absolutely wrong...if it wasnt for this shithole of a country we find ourselves...
if it were outside now and you reported to the agency or bank like this...this would have been dealt with well..the fact he stole it is one offence already then debiting again another offence of fraud. This detail with the name of the culprit would have even served as a serious lead...

It's a very simple case, just report to the police. An order will be taken to d bank to request for the account details of ur suspect. The suspects account will then be blocked and an arrest at sight order placed on it shikena!

every transaction requires a 4 digit PIN , regardless of OTP ,how did the fraudster gain access without it ?

It is high time First Bank did something about this! A hundred and Eight Thousand Naira (108,000) was withdrawn from my First Bank account in September. The account in question had an expired card and a new one had not been collected in its stead. When I complained at a branch closest to me, I was told it was impossible to withdraw without my consent.

First Bank staff are fraud!

In a case like this, you get a lawyer to take them to court, their fear of embarrassment will bring out your money.

Many of account holders use year of their birth as password/pin due to easy remembrance, I believe he might have used different calendar years to predict ur pin after many attempt he/she succeeded

Also some people keep so many vital information on phone, (save msg, contact, MMS, etc) this will make them have access to ur account easily

Hello, its not possible to transfer money off your account using your phone via mobile app or the USSD platform without your pin. Probably he stored his pin in his phone. Report the matter to the police.

I was about opening an account with First bank.

I had a rethink after my very close friend experienced just exactly what the OP went through.

No PIN, no Password but funds were moved after his phone was stolen.

First bank? A big No!

Your friend was careless, not to have reported to the bank once the phone was stolen..#

To use the *894# ussd interface..

You need to know the mobile pin...

It is possible yout friends uses a simple PIN.]

In that case how is it FBN's fault...

Without knowledge of the pin, he couldnt have transferred funds through ussd.

Your friend might have saved his mobile pin on his sim card too, as some careless people do...

Thank you SIR.
