Kiddies account is a bogus banking jargon.

What is end of year party?
What is 4.6 interest rate?

Better look into Money Market Fund. You are sure of about 10% - 13% true yield.

its flexible to top up and Roll over interest.
You can start with as low as 5k.

You can also look into Bonds like one suggested above and Treasury Bills. Etc.

Bro. Just open an online piggybank account for them @piggybank.ng. They are reliable and endorsed by CBN.
You can safelock your fund and get upto 3%(90days)-35%(1000days) interest when you save.
You can enable autosave of 1k or above everymonth, week or day. Your choice! You can check out their FAQ AND TESTImonies.

I do with First Bank for my kids. The truth is i don't even know the benefits. I only pay into the account and i don't bother checking whether there's interest or not.

Its not a deal at all! The end of year so called party is just trash! I opened a sweata account for my daughter two years ago with an average funds of 4m. I was shocked when we got to the party here in abuja last year December and all she got was a bottle of water. Even the so called fidelity kiddies competition was a trash. The winners got either mathset or small lunch bag. I have moved all the funds from fidelity to my personal account pending when am able to get a very good bank with better deals/incentives...

LoL because they gave you water and mathset hahahha

I once had Fidelity SWEETA account for my kids and was operating them steadily because of their advertised end of year party for kids but my kids were never invited. I had to stop operating it and continue with the operation of my CHESS account at StanbicIBTC for them. I have a monthly auto transfer from my current account in the same StanbicIBTC to the CHESS accounts. It has a higher interest rate.
Oga abeg explain dis interest thing. U dey borrow ur own money? Explain abeg. I am very much interested in this one.

Fidelity Bank's Sweeta account actually has a loyalty scheme where kids can benefit for school fees support of N150,000. As long as the account is active though. It think that's a huge plus.

Union Bank is simply the best. Apart from the 4.6% interest you get monthly, you also get insurance cover during the storm period. plus end of the year party and kiddies quizz that comes yearly...
my son is already enjoying all these.

Wow. You have just made a great point. Even the land itself is a great investment. Please kindly enlightening me with cashews plantation. Thank you sir

dfrost:
The best bank for kid savings? My answer: Land savings. Don't keep money in the bank. Buy land wherever you see it. No matter how ridiculous the price is, buy it. Plant cashew on the land. In 3 years, start harvesting it. Simple. That's the best security for your kids.

Bank ko, bank ni. Same bank that will not give you loan as an individual because you don't know anybody except you bring your great-grandfather's birth certificate. cheesy grin

My 2 kobo suggestion.

I really do not understand your question or your request. Nevertheless, Stanbic CHESS account is a savings account for kids or kiddies savings account. The interest rate is higher than the interest rate for a normal savings account.

What do you actually mean by "U dey borrow ur own money?". Explain further so that i can give a response to it.

Good day Nairalanders. I have a baby that'll soon be up to school age and am planning on opening a kiddies account for her. So am soliciting the kind opinions of fellow parents who have more experience in this regard. Please which Nigerian bank operates the best kiddies account?

If possible state the reasons why so as to properly drive home your points. Your kind response will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

This your post is assuming that the bulk of the money is already available. The OP wants to build up an amount for the child through consistent savings and not asking what to do with a bulk amount.

Btw, can i get a land to buy for a child for 1k?.

sorry None of them.... they are all fraud.

better will be to just open a normal saving account for your kids which you wont touch and save for his/her future( do not collect atm, or internet banking login, just use simple banking features that can make you check the money you saved in your account)

All these banks will promise you heaven and earth for your kids future but behold they will give you nothing in return once you start saving with them. the little money you add to the account, that is the money you will receive (they will infact take their stupid bank charges from your own money)

i will also advice you start treasury bills for your children future, open a bank account, and save the profit there and always roll over your bill

Kiddies account in nigeria is fraud

Nigerian banks are fraud laden. I have a dedicated
house. The rent will see to my little daughter's education.

Are u a staff of fidelity? I have never heard of such as my account officer never mentioned such. My daughters sweata account has been active since opening. Just not to make the funds idle, I had chosen an option in investing in treasury bills as I made sure the account was active. My personal opinion though, I think fidelity bank as per sweata account need to step up and stop deceiving the public with one 'dry' end of year party. Even the few staff that were on ground to serve the invitees had to start looking at faces before the small rice that was organised went to the selected attachés.
Am looking forward to when our banks will have an interested in the growing children or rather if anyone has a better option for me as to which bank I can rely on so my children will be happy in future, I would gladly appreciate .......
