To all those that I couldn't respond to their questions, I am very sorry. Truth is that, I was very busy then. I am free now. Whoever has a genuine question that hasn't already been answered on the tread should bring it on. NB: mention me. I don't really have much experience here but will ask people around should your question goes beyond my little experience. Abidjan is expensive |

roughdiamond: roughdiamond I am currently not sure of the date I intend to leave. But I want to ask some questions in advance, largely bothering around housing and cost of living. ****Cash Handling Where will I change cash from naira to XOF? How much is safe for me to carry in cash? Can I use my ATM card in any bank along the border and in Abidjan? Housing and hotel How much should I budget for a low cost hotel? I intend to rent a furnished one-room apartment. How much should I budget? Is it possible to get someone to host me (Flat share) or squatting pending the time I get a bigger apartment? Jobs I have a Freelance business that pays me about $100 (N30,000) weekly. I hope this income will be good enough to survive? My entire travel budget is N150,000 and N50,000 is for transport, that's N200,000 in total. This leaves me with N150,000 naira to settle down. With this 150k (Initial cash) and my weekly 30k, is it advisable to embark on this adventure? P.s, I am a writer and I need a very calm environment to work from Please advise me |

Re: Any Nairalander In Abidjan? by onatisi(m): 4:54am On Jan 10, 2019 |
Investmentfreak:baba , take enough cash ooooo. getting into a car to abidjan is the easiest but settling down and starting a 'meaningful and purposeful life" requires cash , knowledge , patience and most importantly the Grace of God . it is not worth it moving from fry pan to fire , or moving with little cash then having to work for another extra 2-3 years before finally finding ones feet. in short , make sure that you go with over more than enough cash . 400k may not be enough . 1 Like |

Toeyoursea:Cash handling, You will change your money at the border (Benin Border) Amount of money to change depends on your mission. If you are coming for vacation, change all your budget but if for a long term plan, change within the range that can sort your accommodation and other little stuffs. On accommodation; I don't have much experience/information about long term stays. I come across adverts 20k,25k etc but I believe it's subject to negotiation. Forget about flat sharing or squatting with anyone. Nigerians are always afraid of their fellow Nigerians due to bad records in the past. Jobs: You may get a job here but I will advise you remove getting a job from your plan. 30k weekly is about 120k monthly. You can survive with that though small. To survive with that, you need to adjust from Naija lifestyle. (Life is free in Naija and people live in affluence) I think your budget is very small. 150k, I don't think can get you a decent accommodation. You can manage sha but it is advisable to come prepared. Moving to a county where you have no brother, sister, friend or even enemy and don't understand their language is not a child's play. Please plan plan, plan 5 Likes |

Investmentfreak:If you have someone here to accommodate you, yes you may survive with that. If you don't have anyone, please stay back. 400k may just only pay for your accommodation. 2 Likes |

Bank450: UNFORTUNATELY, THE GREEDY INDEGINES REFUSE TO RETURN HOME AND SANITISE THEIR SOURCE. THEY REMAIN STAGNANT IN ABIDJAN, ENJOYING UNINTERRUPTED POWER SUPPLY. MEANWHILE THERE IS ONE SOUND HOTEL 'THE PALM'S HOTEL EJIGBO' A.K.A 'FUNKKY' OKAY, BYE |

Please I need list of schools/universities that offer courses in English in Abidjan. I visited International university of Grand Bassam's website and discovered that their tuition is on the high side (2.7 million Cfa). Anyone with useful information should just help out. Cc Harzontorh |

roughdiamond: The Universities that offer English courses in Ivory Coast are expensive, i.e High tuition fee. Nevertheless contact these 2 schools. First is Govt. ,second is a private uni. University of Abidjan - http://uniabidjan.com/students-2/ University of Science and Technology of Ivory Coast - http://www.rusta-ustci.org/contact.htm Safe guy ! |

noblemind: You want to ship a car to Abidjan? make sure the car is less than 5 years old or from 2014 model, if not the car will not be allowed to enter, Abidjan port and be prepared for Cote d'ivoire logistics (custom clearance) which is very expensive. The customs clearance cost depends on the make of the car, engine horsepower (puissance du moteur) etc. |

100bands:Download Google translator. If you are around Koumassi/Marcory, go to Ramblais Carrefour Ibo. If you are at Adjame, check Saint Michael, Fridge line at Anador, most motor and electrical parts shops. Most Sellers of OK clothes are Nigerians. Some Ivorians speak English too. I have some as friends. Finally, make one a friend. Boy/girl, I will prefer a girl but please be very careful with her. Don't date her 1 Like 1 Share |
