Please I wanted to ask immigration officer's in this forum, is there anything that I am doing wrong trying to invite my mother to the US. I first applied for Visa for her last year 2018 in May for my graduation, they didn't issue her. This year 2019 again (this past monday) I applied for her again and still no avail with all the necessary documents giving to her, like ultrasound, doctors note, affidavitsof support (i-130), bank statements, and verification of account and so on. She told me that the officer didn't even collect the documents from her. Even I mailed some documents to the embassy as well. I just wanted her to come for a month to help me because I am pregnant with twins and I am a US Citizen. My husband is still in Nigeria awaiting his papers. I am the only one here, the plan was if my mom comes and after her stay we will all go back to Nigeria. But I don't know what else to do, is it advisable to try and apply for visa again for her within two weeks. I really need her help. Any advise will be gladly appreciated.

Note: I filled out the DS 160 application for her, I am her only child. She is 54 years old. She doesn't really speak English, both times she went she needed an interpreter. I am the one sponsoring her trip. I know she will not be a liability to the USA government, that I know for sure I work two jobs and I make enough to take care of her expenses when she arrives. I provided all this proofs. I really want my mom to come and help me out. I can petition for her, but it will take longer than the visa and also she doesn't want to live our dad all by himself for that long. That is why she doesn't want to stay long.

Help a sister please and thank you.

Don't stop trying, The more she tries shows some extent of desperation and her desperation will be considered.

In Life, good things don't come easy.

Her composure may give her away though, her responses to the questions asked may also play her apart from the intent on the application.
Get her to keep her mind at rest apply and smile often, look into the VO's face more.

My Mum did hers for 3 times before finally being considered, it is nothing to worry about but i wonder what could be the issue, you said you are a Citizen, so... are your younger ones or elder ones citizens too?

How old is she?

Sorry am responding late. Have been offline. The 221g letter is attached to the email sent to you from the embassy. Please, go with all necessary documents like you are going on an interview. In as much as they hardly sight documents. Its rather safe than sorry.

Hi ma’am please what and what did you take for your 221g appointment, I just got my passport back today , I’ve scheduled an appointment but only the passport was returned to me no 221g slip[/quote]

I can petition for her, but it will take longer than the visa and also she doesn't want to live our dad al by himself for that long. That is why she doesn't want to stay long.

She applied almost immediately she was denied , 2 weeks later!

Don't appeal, Just get her to be less under pressure, you know the whole "thingY" with American Visa application and interview, puts everyone at some kind of edge , even some one that has the right intent of just going and coming back will get there and be shaking.

Give her sometime , like about 2 weeks , don't change most things in the DS-160, reapply as it were.

You can apply as much as you can, but give her some composure if you can, that what basically fail first-timers

Lugbe axis to Central Area for interview. How about if the interview is in the morning, have you considered possible holdup around Lugbe to City Gate? let him use booking.com to check for hotels around that vicinity and choose according to prices. Excepts he drives.

You are are correct no doubt but there are also some cost cutting Modes you might not know on this, Hotels close to Central Area are more that his said Budget. Dont forget that the distance from LUGBE to US Embassy isnt more than 30 mins no matter how bad the traffic is, Unless the President is passing. I stayed in LUGBE when i went to the Embassy cos I have a friend who stays around LUGBE and yes i stayed small Hotel In His Estate, NEAT of course and had a 7:30 appointment and got to the Embassy before 7am, with less than 1500,after the Interview i caught my flight out of town same day, infact i got a cab to the airport from there for abut 800 or so. Yes i am sure of what i am advising him and all this happened in January this year and good thing is i got the VISA

Lugbe is not bad (if he leaves for the embassy around 6am, he won't face any traffic) especially around Police post side but he won't see N3000 maybe N7K

My question is ...

1. Why did you choose a Very Far date?

2. What category of Application did you make ? B-2?

3. The invitation Letters would accompany you (Though may not even be asked in Most cases).

4. Statement Account is basically for who is Funding the trip. (Take the appropriate)

I will tell you something...

The Visa is completely on your answers and application (DS-160), Your composure. If you used an agent, make sure he gives you a copy of what he filled in your DS-160 form, so that your answers are in tandem to the filled.

Be positive, ...
Have a good reason to give for having to travel for Just graduation, a Man once jokingly said "America is a great country that's why he wants to visit'. Don't sound like everyone when asked a question that require some affluence of your mind.
Don't answer with too much words unless you have to explain.

The trump administration has made the process more stringent.

These days, they do not overlook what they would have some years ago.

For example if you went with a visit visa and then changed status, they would expect that any other family person would do so.

This is what I wanted to ask. Did you travel with visitors visa? It could be a factor. If yes I think the best thing is just to file for your mum.

When you are scheduling a date there is a column for you to state where your passport would be delivered and it's normally a DHL office of your choice!
