Re: USA Visit Visa Part 3 by trav(m): 7:59pm On Feb 28, 2019
Hello House,
Please I need some advice as I am a bit confused. My son who is nine was refused a B1/B2 visa today because of a reason I find very hard to believe. The boy was going for an excursion with his school and we had paid all fees.
To start with, we got our first US visa in 2013 and traveled in 2014 for summer and my wife also gave birth there (Mind you we contacted the embassy about our plan to birth there and got a positive response). We successfully renewed our visa via drop box in 2016 and it expired November 2018 but unfortunately we were unable to travel with it because of some family issues and other factors. I decided to do a drop box for my son in December 2018 towards his trip in March but his passport was returned after 30 days and requested to schedule an appointment (221g). We went for the interview today and all was going well until the consular asked if we had a zero balance for the birth in US. I gave her the zero balance document issued by the hospital and after a few minutes she said he does not qualify for the visa and that what we paid for birthing was far below the average in Arizona where we had our baby. The hospital we used was MIHS and we paid full in cash. I tried to make her understand that that was the package and what we were billed and that we had also renewed our visa after the birth process but she insisted he does not qualified.
The refusal shook me as it is the first (And hopefully last) I will ever experience. My worry is what the next step to take is. Obviously he can’t make the trip again as the group leaves Nigeria by third week of March. However I need some advice on what to do next. My son no longer qualifies for drop box but I, wifey and daughter still do.
I want to know
1. Do we apply for our own visa renewal via drop box and if successful, then we schedule a new interview for him?
2. Do we ignore the drop box and all schedule an interview together?
3. Do we just forget applying for the US for now while visiting other countries? We have good travel history.

I will appreciate all objective suggestions

Pls how true is this claim

If you have anyone in Nigerian going for US visa interview ,advise them to cancel it for now because it's been massive refusal since on Monday.

Some guy just ranting here a long time. And my visa interview is on Wednesday, the coming week
Re: USA Visit Visa Part 3 by vibrant99(m): 8:25pm On Feb 28, 2019
That is how they say though, Everyone has a unique situation, You can refuse everyone at the same time.

That was how some said CANADA has not given a visa in over 3 months... I wondered how we got ours same week, in 12 days !!!

No matter how high the Visa refusal might be, the US embassy still issues Visa to people daily. Just pray and hope you be among the few that would be favored.

Hi nairalanders
Pls I need ur advise , am currently pregnant and traveling to USA for delivery. I want my 1st child to come over on visit when school is on Easter holiday has she as not travelled to USA before
I won't be around for her interview so my husband will b taking her.
Now this is where I need advise
I gave birth to her while studying in d U.K. 2008, was a single mum till I married in 2014, ( I have a court shown affidavit stating am solely responsible for her up keep) I don't know d whereabouts of her biological father as in all U.K. Visa applications I leave the father information blank even in d documentation of her Nigerian passport father's information is blank.
When I applied for USA visa birthing purpose in 2016 I and my husband where asked if he had adopted her and we said yes . Reason was that we were already considering it. After the interview I went to d appropriate ministry to start the process and was told that since the father is a Nigerian I need a letter from my child's biological father as long as he is still alive or from his family stating they agree to d adoption.
This put me in a very sad emotional touture as it reminded me of what I went through in that relationship and how so hard I tried then to exterblish a relationship between the father and child while I was in U.K. And even wen I came back to Nigeria.
Also at some point in Nigeria Due to the way school educate kids I noticed in my child's exam booklet she had a great score but left a particular answer blank so I checked d question and it writes what is the duty of a father. I realized she didn't know cos I was doing very thing as a single mum.
At that point I spoke to few elderly people who advised in Nigeria law that the man owns d child. I went through d pain travelled to lagos to locate where his mother lives after hours of searching d area I eventually located it but she travelled out of d country. Collected her Neighbour's contact , came back to abuja and kept calling just to b able to reach her. After 2 months of continued calls I was able to speak to her, told her I let my child talk to her grandma for the first time and after giving d phone back to me she said I should never call her again that when d child grows will look for her father.
That day I wept bitterly cos her son never denied d pregnancy, I wasn't contacting cos I needed money or for they to take care of d child. I was doing so cos of d society we live in Nigeria.
That was d only day my child saw me break down in tears and on that day I vowed not to contact his mum again as for him I don't even know his whereabout.
Am sorry my mail is so long but I believe you need to have a true picture to b able to advise me properly.
I have filled my child's USA visa visa form using b1 and where father's information was asked ini didn't fill it. It's my husband sponsoring my child's trip so pls where it's asked for sponsor will I fill in parent? And if asked about d adoption what would my husband's response b as I will not b there with them during d interview.

Thanks you so much will b waiting to read from u.

Before making any moves and as an Educated woman, you should have contacted a lawyer before going ahead with the adoption process... I wish you're available for your child interview because U.S Embassy is always on the look out for Child trafficking and it's only you that can explain the true picture.
I pray that God will take away your sorrow and as for your child, he/she is already great.
Good luck

( copy and past ) Ensure you have all your required documents with you. This is necessary because any omission, the team at the entrance, who are Nigerians and whose job it is to vet your documents, would turn you back to go regularise it. And trust me; those ones attend to you when it is your interview time already, which means you have little or no time left at that time.
dose it mean these men at the entrance check my bank statement and some confidential documents? Please need some insight on this.

Very good suggestions.

An to add to it...with such a complicated situation with what she has narrated it will be advisable for her to be on ground in Naija to attend her daughter's visa interview.

Hi everyone & I hail all the gurus in the house, I & my family (family of 3) appeared for our b1/b2 interview yesterday and it went thus:

Vo: where do u work
Me: I work wit Co xyz as blabla (my post)
Vo: what do u do (to my wife)
Wife: answered wit even more confidence than I did
Vo: have u traveled out of nig before (still focus on my wife)
At this point when my wife started highlighting country we've bn together as family and other countries she's been to for trainings the VO stopped her & asked one of the staffs (a guy) to lead us to the next counter & told him she had interviewed us...fast forward to d next counter
Vo(a guy with earphone on his ears): good morning
Wife&I: good morning
Vo: passport please
Wife: handed them over
Vo: typing for almost 2mins without asking us anytin (at this point my anxiety level had gone up)....
Vo: why are u going to america
Me: we are going 4our annual vacation &...
Vo: have u traveled out of nig b4
Me: told him where we've bn to together...wife also came in to defend countries she's been to for trainings (wife later told me I wasn't answering wit. Confidence enough & that was why she had to step up to d occasion)
Vo: returned all our confirmation pages printout & held onto our passport typing for almost 2-3mins (I'm sure pple behind must av bn wondering wat was going on)
Vo: brought blue paper wit their sorry msg& now returned our passports embarassed
Notice of the day:
1. I've never seen nor heard this b4 I mean move 4rm one counter to another
2. The VO.1 (d lady) had enough blue papers (denial papers) on her desk which she has been denying pple with but not a single white one (approval paper) was sighted.
3. Vo.2 typing for almost 2mins without putting a question tru to us... (though we blv d Lady must av communicated with him abt us, just our belief...)

PLEASE HOUSE WHAT DO THINK WENT WRONG?

Well psychologically, what I observed about the interview is that when you were asked the question have you traveled out of Nigeria before? , which you were just supposed to give answer "YES" I believe the VO would have seen the stamps of the countries you have been to and if she wasn't clear enough she would then ask further question on the countries you have traveled to before, your wife was talking too much which the VO was not comfortable with that was why the VO had to stop her and pass you guys to the next counter. When the second VO started the interview all over again I can see your wife did the same mistake again, she also told you you were not confidence enough (which is not true) honesty if your wife had cautioned herself and allowed you to answer the question immediately you get to the second VO you would have answered the questions perfectly and concisely and you guys would have gotten the Visa. Your wife did over sabi (please no offense sir), thinking she could talk so much to please the VO. You can't please the VO you can only Convince them. and when you are convincing them it is very much better to keep your answer very brief and clear. Your wife said you were not confidence enough that is normal because the VO just started asking you questions, I can assure you you will balance up your confidence along the interview if your wife had not interferes.

With all these observation have elucidated above, I stand to be corrected by gurus in the house.

Thank you
