carbon1224: Gtb bid failed. Got a mail from my account officer 189days 12.00% 273days 12.50% 357days 13.00% Secondary market |
Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by Missiniubs(f): 8:55pm On Feb 28, 2019 |
My GTB account has been debited this evening. Though I submitted a letter for 182 days in the primary I think the crash down in the rates made them go for secondary market. For 189 days I got about 12.4%. |

Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by dexla(f): 11:40pm On Feb 28, 2019 |
Why are people not investing with investment firms or am I missing something ? Got the following rates today in secondary market with Meristem investment 10.7% for 91 days 12.801% for 182 days 14.17 % for 364 days |
Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by zamirikpo(m): 8:11am On Mar 01, 2019 |
My 364day application did not go thru, my account office called yesterday to apologize. I don't expect the secondary market to be any better with rates but I will see what they have on offer today. Rates maybe on a free fall. I hear the stock market is also on a free fall, what could be the reason? |

Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by Infinitisi(m): 9:26am On Mar 01, 2019 |
dexla: Well I guess it is a combination of 2 factors. 1. A lot of people are more familiar and comfortable dealing with banks. 2. Many of those who invest in Tbills alone are risk averse investors and as such have never been exposed to other investment options the type offered by investment houses. So they do not know or understand the services you can get from these investment houses. My opinion please. |
Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by TotoNaRubber: 9:43am On Mar 01, 2019 |
As much as there are testimonials about well doing investment houses, commercial banks are more backed up by the CBN. I recently went in search of a company "Jos Breweries" i invested in back in the early 90s, the certificates i had said 55 broad street lagos but i searched through broad street for an hour and there was no sign of them anymore. I am only left certificates and not even the capital or interests. dexla: 1 Like |

TotoNaRubber: Jos breweries used to listed on the stock market. I think you should be talking with your stock brokers and not the company. The stock brokers can reach their registrars for you..(If the coy is still listed on the stock exchange) help you to dematerialise the certs and then help you to sell it. |
Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by feelamong(m): 10:00am On Mar 01, 2019 |
zamirikpo: Stock market is falling while the Money market is bullish. when rates are dropping (Price rising if you deal on bonds) in the Money markets, it means the market is bullish. However its bearish when rates are rising. however in stock market, when prices are falling, its bearish; i think that is the best time to even look for some good stocks to buy if you can take the risk. 1 Like 1 Share |

Infinitisi: Totally agree with you. I'm just wondering what's the worst that could happen, I mean, its same tbills my money is being invested. |
Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by Infinitisi(m): 10:58am On Mar 01, 2019 |
dexla: It is the same Tbills my sister. A lot of voter education still needs to be done. Tbills and other fixed income securities are actually the core business of some of these investment firms and as such they understand the market better than some banks even. 1 Like |

Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by Akin3891: 11:34am On Mar 01, 2019 |
Settled for 13.9 -363days with Firstbank this morning, waiting till March 13 will cost me dearly, besides stop rate for upcoming auctions might not be more than 14.2 as most banks failed in their 364 days bids, hence those funds will try to find their way back in next primary which i think cld drop rate further. Gosh, i cant believe i settled for 13.9 when i have been eyeing 14.8, i just lost some money , pretty bad. Not happy. Good luck to everyone , see u nxt year March .God willing |
