Hmmmm...... this might be true o. Is there anyone with a different opinion who won the scholarship more recently and was interviewed outside his/her geopolitical zone of origin? Please share your experience. Thanks.

More clarification from any ptdf scholar in the house, please?

The cut off marks for shortlisting for my state was 60.
Taking note of class of degree, olevel, awards and publications with olevel grades carrying the bulk of the marks.

With the formula , a first class graduate with weak olevel stands no chance against a 2.1 graduate with reasonable A' s and B's

I always advice to pick from your Geopolitical region. I won the scholarship about 10 years ago and had to travel to my geopolitical region to sit for the assessment. You are competing with people from your own region/state.

Once you are not from the region where the interview is being conducted, the biasness from the interviewers will be clear and apparent. But PTDF will not tell you that but the interviewers are the one that will make the decision.

Risk it and travel to your own region for the assessment
Please what are our thoughts on the above? Someone can copy any recent scholar or better still respond if you attended the interview at your geopolitical zone or not. Help us Biko

Hello...is the point for A1 different from say B2 or B3? Or are A's and B's rated as distinctions? grin

I dont know for sure but i've heard this before, not sure if they differentiate because on the portal after filling your results it just differentiates to distinction, credit and pass so I think they award marks to those categories

They have finished the shortlisting. PTDF and flexisap are just trying to save face as the portal was wrongly opened ahead of schedule. Had it been that all applicants login in when the portal was opened for 24 hours then we would have all seen our statuses. As you submit your application, a software has automatically calculate your points as in: First degree, Olevel, awards and publications. Candidates with the highest marks from each state were picked and their profiles were viewed( uploads and SOP). If your points are too low for shortlisting by the software, nobody will check your application. You don't expect them to go through all the about 20k Msc and PhD applications. As someone Said, there is more to life than just Ptdf scholarship.
There is sense in this though. Imagine having to go through 27k SOP. It still boils down Grace

1)Supposing a candidate bags an award after the application, and fortunately gets shortlisted for the interview stage, if such a candidate presents the award he/she bagged after the application timeline to the interview panel, will a score still be awarded to the candidate on behalf of such award, since it came after the application deadline?

2) will a score be given to an award presented to the interview panelist, that was not originally entered in the portal during application?

I need a swift response to these questions!

You mean Katsina state has such a high cut-off mark, implying that some southern sates could have higher cut-off marks, OR, could it be that all the states were given a level playing ground with a cut-off of 60 marks?

Re: Apply 2019/2020 PTDF Scholarship In France, Germany And UK by ExpertNLer: 10:45pm On Mar 01, 2019
I honestly dont think there is a cut of mark, I will want to assume the computer sorts the application into states and say, selects the top 100 candidates per state for example. So if you have a state that the least out of the top hundred had 88 as his/her total score, that maybe harder to get into compared to a state that the least among the top hundred got 65 or 55 as his/her total score.

These are all your speculations. As it is, shortlisting is based on your previous qualification. for example O-levels matters only to applicants for undergraduate studies, while class of bachelors degree is considered for M.Sc applicants (Ideally 2:1 is considered even though they mention 2:2 as minimum requirement). For Ph.D applicants they usually consider 'MERIT' in M.Sc and 2:1 (or 2:2 in some cases) in the first degree as their minimum requirement. Furthermore you should all know that, publications, awards/prizes and research proposal are considered only at the interview. Finally you should know that meeting all the requirements does not guarantee that you would be shortlisted. sometimes luck matters because the shortlisting is done by a software and it only scans and select only(but not all) those with minimum requirements and above. it only selects the maximum number of candidate it is commanded to. If you know anybody in PTDF ask him to authenticate my statement. I have witnessed some cases of of first class graduate were not shortlisted. so every single applicant should keep on praying while keeping his/her hope alive.

Some states have as high as 85( their top candidates fall within 85-100) where as some states are below 40 sef. Someone with 2.1 from Borno could make it and a first class from Abia could not

But come to think of it, are there those who got this scholarship, for OSS MSc, without publications and awards, especially from southern states?

Re: Apply 2019/2020 PTDF Scholarship In France, Germany And UK by Sheddy79(m): 9:46am On Mar 02, 2019
That we can't ascertain for now, but I think those qualifications gives you edge over your contemporaries from the same state, especially the publication stuff. For instance, a 2.2 candidate with just one publication is already @ pal with a 1st class product without publication. The marking scheme is spread in such a way that your chances are wide spread. You make up in areas you are deficient with unconventional qualifications such as pub. And awards. Secondly, experience also counts, for instance, I was shortlisted twice last year, but failed to present my ptdf award letter, I participated in a previous ptdf engineering design training program, which should have counted towards my overall score, even when I listed it amongst my awards. As at then, I was not duly informed of the marking scheme. So I lost the opportunity narrowly to a guy I knew very well in my state, not just state, LGA, not just LGA, my clan precisely. As I write this post, he is in Manchester. He edged me out with his undergraduate thesis publication. As @ then, I never knew that such thesis pub. Would be accepted by the panelist, and that my friend who worn it from my clan never revealed this to me, because we were competing with each other. Invariably, he was more experienced, I wouldn't say crafty, than myself, and he eventually got it, only to reveal his strategy to me after he finally got it. So I learnt my lessons the hard way. So information also plays a big deal in the scheme. And that is the essence of this platform. A highly informed and experienced 2.2 product, as in the PTDF marking scheme process can easily edge out an uninformed and inexperienced 1st class product from the same state. So let's do our best and leave the rest for God.

You would be surprised to know that some northern states like Katsina, Kaduna, Kano, Kwara, Kogi and Benue are by far more competitive than some southern states.
