SuperIgbo1:if only you know the reality of what really happened during the war and not what your uncle told you. You claimed to be fighting Nigeria buh you were camped in your own territory. The only time Biafra made advancement was when Adebanjo led troops through benin enroute Lagos which they were quickly stopped in Ore and made to retreat back to SS/SE. The Nigerian army didn't eventually come to fight in the first place buh where there to protect the oil companies and to watch Ojukwu didn't make moves. Buh he was already thirsty for blood and attcked the Nigeria army because he was already prepared while Nigeria believes the treaty signed in Ghana earlier had settled the rift. Nigeria army was eventually forced to fight after series of killings and attack by Biafrans, they never meant to attack their own brothers. If they had same thing Ojukwu had in mind, Biafra wouldn't last 3 days. Ojukwu was already prepared for the war and already has his millitary in every strategic places in the SS/SE. Nigeria believes Biafrans are there brothers and were never gonna fight them untill all the attacks. The only thing they care about first and targeted was the oil company in SS which Ojukwu had already secured with heavily armed men. That was why Biafra lasted that much. They fought to secure back the oil company first before fighting to capture Ojukwu. Stop boasting about it, you have many international mercenaries and many allies just like Nigeria did. The U.K almost supported Biafra because they were in control of the oil company and that was all they cared about untill Nigeria secure it back. 1 Like 1 Share |

IjebuWarrior: No Igbo word for 10,000+ before 2012?? Stop spreading hate and misinformation. Even an Igbo child born in the 80s would’ve known the word for 1,000,000 and 1,000,000,000 before the age of 10. Stop the hate. According to Yorubas, Igbo votes are insignificant. Why are you guys worried when they vote? Stop the hate. 3 Likes 1 Share |

months:Politics and democracy are a game of numbers, the igbos don't always support yorubas, that was why the best candidate in 79 election was rigged out, igbos also didn't support abiola, anyplace we peach our tenants, the igbos go on the opposite side so the hausas and fulani continue to dominate.what is the use of voting pdp in Lagos?it's back to slavery 2.0,tinubu increased the revenue of Lagos State to 40billion.,we are building our own airport, our own sea port, and these igbos want to vote pdp by setting us back. |

Bungalow:Did igbos claimed Lagos?,the truth of the matter is everything that's happening is just to instill fear into the igbos who are most likely to vote for pdp so that they may not vote unlike the hausas that are pro Apc,but I know for a fact that yorubas can't threatened the hausas like they the way they are doing to igbos now, I'm not Igbo but that's the truth. The unending animosity between the yorubas n the Igbos is the reason why the hausa/fulani has gotten the chance to play the rest parts of the country for fools, you can go on n brag about what you people are doing to the igbos in Lagos for whatever reason but remember nothing last forever, injustice is not what anyone should celebrate. |

Ikechu12:Na wa. But an alternative should be for everyone to work hard to succeed and not seek to oppress. If not then separation in peace instead of cat and rat. How igbos can be blamed more for what happened when it was a reaction not them initiating hate crime while worst things are happening and some play deaf. Yet be accused of hating more. Those who targeted and sought to disenfrenchize based on tribe were wrong those who over reacted where wrong too. And the rest who support the post reactions mainly based on yribe are even wronger. |

Chipink:Atiku was lieing, and can never restructure, ask yourself why jonatan good luck did not do it ??why obasonjo did not do it.jonathan is from Nigeria Delta and the contribute more to the Nigeria purse.money is share according to the number of local governments and states,so how much does balysea collect,Kano collects more money than every state.he would have been the first to do it.so buhari is re adjusting the system.watch out for second term.he will not restructure but we are getting close |

months:METRO PLUS SPORTS BUSINESS ENTERTAINMENT COLUMNIST OPINION SEX & SEXUALITY EDITORIAL SPECIAL FEATURES ADVERTISE 13' Former Federal Commissioner for Works, Alhaji Olufemi Okunnu (SAN) INTERVIEW ICYMI: Awori are the original inhabitants, owners of Lagos — Okunnu Published November 20, 2017 A former Federal Commissioner for Works, Alhaji Olufemi Okunnu (SAN), in this interview with TOBI AWORINDE, describes Lagosians as accommodating but deserving of respect Is it true that Lagos is no man’s land? There is no place called ‘No Man’s Land’ in the world. Every parcel of land has its own history. Lagos has its own history and the original inhabitants of Lagos – the Aworis – settled over 500 years ago. I have said it many times recently that Lagos has its own indigenes. The Aworis were the first group of settlers who inhabited Lagos city and suburbs. Maybe some centuries after, there was the invasion by the Binis, the Edo-speaking people, who invaded Lagos and set up their own institutions. In fact, the obaship of Lagos has a lot to do with the Benin Kingdom. So, the Binis also invaded and settled in Lagos. Oba of Lagos is of Edo or Bini origin, not Yoruba, and all the other chiefs, who came with the first oba, that is, Ado — I am talking of a group of white-cap chiefs called Akarigbere — also are of Bini origin. The Akarigberes include the following chiefs: Eletu Odigbo, Eletu Iwashe, Eletu Ika, Ologun Agbaje, Ologun Adodo, Eletu Awo, Ologun Agan, Ologun Atebo, Ologun Igbesodi and Ologun Ide Okoro. All these were Binis or Edo-speaking, with their families, and they settled largely in the Isale Eko, Idunmota and Idunshagbe parts of Lagos Island. When you hear of Idunmota, Idunshagbe, Idunmaigbo, Idunmagbo, etc., ‘Idun’ means area — Bini origin. They, not Yorubas, settled there. Apart from the Akarigbere class of chiefs, there were also the Abagbon class of chiefs, who came with Ado, again Binis: Ashogbon (war chiefs), Bajulaiye (‘Bazuaye’ as they call it in Benin today), Saba, Bajulu, Bashua (which is another form of ‘Bazua’). They were all Bini or Edo-speaking, not Yoruba. Are you saying that the Binis too can claim ownership of Lagos? What I’m trying to emphasise is that Lagos, in terms of indigenes, is not only the Yoruba, although they don’t speak Bini language now because they have all abandoned Bini language; it is not spoken among them. They are all Yoruba-speaking like the Fulani, who conquered the Hausa. The Kano people don’t speak Fula; they speak Hausa, the language of the conquered. So, you don’t hear the Bini, who settled in Lagos some three centuries ago, speaking Bini any longer. They speak the language of the people they found there. So, who owns Lagos? The Idejo class of chiefs in Lagos are of Awori origin. They are the land-owning class of chiefs. They owned Olumegbon (the whole of Ajah belonged to the Olumegbon chieftaincy family); Oniru (the whole of Victoria Island); Ojomu, next door to Ajah (there is Oba Ojomu now); Elegushi (the land being at Ikate); the Onisemo. The whole of Apapa Peninsula used to belong to the Oluwa family. The British compulsorily acquired the whole of Apapa and paid compensation to them. The Ojora of Lagos (that is Ijora) were the original settlers. 1 Like |
