lancee: hahahaha..i spend far more time now trading cryptos looking for 10% daily there. Our NSE is too slow for one on the fast lane. I got a mail from TRW stockbrokers saying they are now selling down on their sukuk bonds at 14.5% discount rates... I think its a far better deal than what the Tbill has to offer now 2 Likes |

Instead of accepting under 13% in the secondary market, I would rather wait and trade in the primary market in a week's time. Irrespective of the political atmosphere coupled with market volatility, I doubt with absolute confidence that the primary market rate for the upcoming Tbill transaction would fall below 13.5%. Now, for someone looking to invest about N10m, the extra 0.5%(13.5%primary-13%secondary --just saying) does make a tremendous difference in the long-run; that is if you understand the concept of Time Value of Money(TVM). This is not to discourage you from investing in the secondary market if your level of uncertainty is high, but if I were you with millions to invest for one year, I would wait till next week, perhaps the benefits are always greater--though I speak from experience, but I stand to be corrected! 2 Likes |

You made some interesting points and i tried to implement this strategy but unfortunately it didn't work especially when rates are at declining stage. In the end i realised intially investing at the second market would av paid better. This will work better when rates stabilize. Also, one of the benefits of investing in TB now is to lock in funds as soon as possibly at the highest possible rate with secondary or primary market. N10m investment is equivalent to N62K for two weeks wait then take into acc primary marker rate by then may hover around 12.5 and then the greatest downfall of bidding at the primary being human error. Bluecollarguy: I sincerely agree with U, the difference is too much from 14.2 to 13% , I would prefer to take my chances in a forth night, than lock down 13% for a year, Am not anti buhari but am sure this economy will slip up sooner than later, and the cbn would have to fall back on borrowing. Where all the money flooding the market is coming from,I don't know. |

Firstly, predicting the wrong rate by either the investor or the bank representative. Secondly, the bank representative sleeping on duty (this is the greatest). OvaSabi1: 1 Like |
