BREAKING NEWS: 5 Governorship Candidates Step Down For Labaran Maku In Nasarawa by ABLAKUDAUDA: 4:44pm On Mar 02, 2019 |
The Nasarawa State gubernatorial candidates of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) Group Captain Zakka Rabo Rtd., has stepped down from the race and declared his support for the candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) Hon. Labaran Maku CON, former Minister of Information. His counterpart on the platform of the Social Democratic Party (SDP, Hon. Ishaq KanaComrade, also did the same to join forces with APGA ahead of March 9 governorship election in the state. Three political parties in the state last week resolved to form an alliance with the All Progressives Grand Alliance APGA to defeat the ruling APC in the state. The parties which include the Zenith Labour Party, the Labour Party and KOWA party and other political parties who have equally indicated interest expressed worries over the insecurity and poverty that have ravaged the state. One of the candidates Umar Akwe-Doma (son of former Governor Aliyu Akwe-Doma) in his address during a courtesy visit said Maku is someone he respect because of his passion for the development of Nasarawa state which every concern indigenes of the state could wish to meet for the progress of Nasarawa state. Addressing a joint press conference on Thursday, the ADC guber candidate, Group Captain Zakka Rabo said they made the decision after due consultation with their members to rescue the state from numerous challenges bedeviling her. He said their decision was not made under any form of duress or monetary influence but to ensure that Nasarawa State get the best going forward. Zakka called on all our supporters to massively support the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) in the governorship election on the 9th March, 2019. He appealed to our supporters not to be discouraged with the outcome of the Presidential election which was rigged in favour of the ruling party. He emphasized that they must be resolute and determined to about the liberation movement in Nasarawa State and come out en -mass to vote APGA. The SDP guber candidate, Hon. Ishaq Kana said, ” in our opinion and those of our party members and teeming supporters, this is the best thing to do to move Nasarawa State forward and checkmate effectively the re-occurrence of what happened during the Presidential election in the state”. The duo said, they will mobilize all resources both material and human to support the candidate of the APGA to victory and further urged all well meaning citizens of the state to do same. Maku, who is the National Secretary of APGA, left the PDP where he served as commissioner, deputy governor and Minister to join APGA when he was rigged out of the primaries in favour of the least of all aspirants on ethnic and religious grounds. Maku ended in second place beating the PDP candidate with a very wide margin in the state during the 2015 general election. It is believed that it is his results that was swapped for Almakura. While APGA is considered a weak party in the North, Labaran Maku has overtime showed that he what the people want is credible leadership. He is optimistic that people will vote base on crediblity NOT base on party loyalty. From his outings, Labaran Maku seem to be the most popular candidate among the three major contestants in the forth coming election. Here are pictures from some of his rallies. www.nairaland.com/attachments/8730087_fbimg1548393360880_jpeg3ffab4a4d5cec52d469d6f93c5567b71 www.nairaland.com/attachments/8576488_mk2_jpg8a490e3ce7e18d1872c58e626ed44058 www.nairaland.com/attachments/8576490_mk3_jpg67701fa3bc3ee6a1068c1c2c7c67ef4c www.nairaland.com/attachments/8839540_domaaaa_jpeg827d172b082efdad334051754948bdda |
