nairavsdollars: The answer is simple, that is the only card he has to play. The culture of our brothers from the southeast doesn't permit one individual to control so much power. The best way to get across to these brothers is to come from the angle of the way of life of these people (culture). The problem with this strategy is that our brothers in the southeast do not constitute more than a quarter of the electorate in Lagos to win he has to cut across other ethnic communities in Lagos. it has even gotten worse for JK because Tinubu has enlisted the help of Senate elect Ifeanyi Uba to share the southeasterners votes. I don't see JK winning, firstly because of the weak structure PDP has in Lagos, secondly because of the weak rigging machinery, thirdly very weak financing and lastly because the majority of those who actually vote (low income earners) are controlled by the APC. 2 Likes |

The Igbo in Lagos cannot come to terms with their freedom in Lagos. Majority of them never enjoy such even in their Biafra .Rather than coexist with the Yoruba , they are striving to destroy and conquer Yoruba in Lagos .Igbo agenda towards Yoruba is evil. Igbo are taking advantage of Yoruba culture which encourages individual to grow to their potential. For all those Yoruba who are naive and and have bought the lies and twisted truths of the Igbo they see nothing wrong in the victim card the Igbo are playing. The Igbo have achieved so much in Lagos APC but are not contented. They have consolidated their position and are now going for the kill : claim they give Agbaje a bloc vote that ensured his victory should he win and blackmail him into giving them more political positions and influence they currently enjoy. They will remind him how his Yoruba people abandoned him while they stood by him as if no Yoruba would have voted for him. Just as they currently claim they developed Lagos to what it is today, forgetting that we have been developing new sites in Lagos and they will later come and rent houses from us from where they start their trading without restrictions. Should Agbaje win Igbo would blackmail Yoruba into claiming they made him governor as they say Lagos was developed by them. 3 Likes |

Listen, anyone who cares to, in a democratic society where rule of law, equity and justice reign, any citizen from any part of the society is equal to any citizen in any part of the given society, if not that Nigeria being the zoo it is where bigotry, nepotism and tribalism are elevated above citizens' basic rights and common sense, tell me why a group of people numbering over 5 million in a state of less than 15million population wouldn't be allowed to determine their political path, make their choices and exercise their constitutional and civic responsibilities without molestation or intimidation. Truth be told and let it tinkle the ears of certain pathological bigots and liars, take the Igbos out of Lagos and see it become less than what Osun is. If you like am good, if you hate am hang, I care more for a dead ant! |

There was no contradiction there. Go and study your history. Akintola ran an anti-igbo campaign against Awolowo for the position of the Western Premier, just as Tinibu is running an anti-igbo campaign against Agbaje for the position Lagos governor. We are talking about a regional government here. The fact that the East and North voted massively for the federal government of the day did not change the fact that the federal government of the day was led by a northerner just like the unitary APC government of today is also led by a northerner. Belewa, personally imposed Akintola against the wish of both the Yorubas and their Igbo neighbors. That's why (unlike Jimi) Akintola senselessly ran with his igbo demonizing rhetorics. He painted Awolowo as an Igbo domination enabler. I believe he did this because Zik was not in his support. It was actually the incarceration of Awolowo, the declaration of state of emergency in the Western Region, and the imposition of Akintola that triggered the Nigeria's first attempt on military coup. #ImDoneWithYouThough schoolboij: |

Why is tribalism always the issue in Lagos politics? False, tribalism is not the issue in Lagos politics, it is only the issue in Lagos state elections. And the reason is simple. When His excellency, the former governor of Lagos state, Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu shunned National census figures and conducted Lagos state population census, it was discovered in the demographics, that a staggering 52% of Residents in Lagos where from the east. A discovery that led to him and successive governments retaining one seat in the lagos state cabinet to an igbo man. Also an igbo youth wing was created immediately in the AD which morphed into the ACN and the APC. It became the tradition that during every and any election in lagos, the Igbo folk were always courted with promises of support, political support if they supported ACN/APC/Tinubu's Man. But in the post-tinubu era, none of such promises were ever kept, at the grass root level, a discovery unearthed by none other than jimi agbaje. Hence the high level of intimidation against igbos/easterners in lagos especially when their body language suggests that they do not support Tinubu's preferred candidiate. They have no issues playing the tribal card at the National level but it becomes problematic at the lagos state level, because they have no clear intention of giving them - the igbo folks - all the promises they make. And then, when people like Agbaje, openly come out and promise to give them support for their businesses and access to the pies of contracts in lagos, they say he is being tribalistic. You need to attend caucus meetings and hear the promises they give to igbo leaders in lagos on the things they will do for igbos at the grassroot. From Eze Ndigbo Surulere, to Eze Ndigbo badagry. The moment they share money 2 give the igwe's and the elections is over, it is finished. It was a game invented by Tinubu, Agbaje simply came out to play. It makes Tinubu a National leader but Jimi Agbaje a tribalist? I hear una....... You dont believe what I said. Think about it for a minute. Igbo's are a national commodity as residents but you will never hear the complain about them during state elections anywhere else but in lagos, why? When there is a crack/friction in the ruling party in lagos, they suffer for it. When Tinubu and Fashola where having a fracas over the line of succession, post-fashola era and the Oba Mediated by offering Ambode, Igbo were placed under pressure. Why? APC/Tinubu blocked all the homes of the Eze Ndigo's with gifts and promises if they supported Ambode. Agbaje took it a step further and dropped his own gifts and promises at the door of the Obi of Onitsha himself. That angered the Oba of Lagos, who had earlier called on Agbaje to step down with a promise that after Ambode does 8yrs, he will support him if he is still interested. This led the Oba of Lagos to invite Igbo leaders in lagos and release the famous "Drown in the Lagoon" curse against those igbos who don't vote for Ambode in lagos. Now another fracture has shown up. Ambode is no longer wanted in lagos, Sanwo-olu is preferred. But Ambode took his rejection too cool and they suspect he will sabotage them as the day gets closer. The Igbo folks are now under renewed pressure again. And it gets worse that people like peter Obi is used to campaign for agbaje, why is agbaje so tribalistic. Why are APC so jittery to the extent of carrying placard to campaign against igbos and any other persons who offer them promises just as they also have been making promises? Why were thugs released in Igbo dominated areas to be inspecting what igbo folks thumbprinted in their ballot paper...... Like I said, it was game invented by Tinubu, Agbaje simply came out to play. But, unfortunately it made Jimi Agbaje a tribalist but Senator Bola Tinubu a Nationalist. What a pity, in a city......... 4 Likes 4 Shares |

Bulleye:Look at this buffoon vomiting trash, do you have a plot of land in Lagos talk more of developing it, are you referring to those coarse enclaves that are less qualified for human habitation. The kind of developments Igbo groups bring to Lagos without a dime government aid are world class and economically robust. No yoruba group can effectively developed an international commercial complexes like what few Igbo groups did in tradefair complex without government aid, if you doubt it then give me an example and I'll prove you wrong. Shameless people, one wonders what your lifes would have been without government. |

That you will even ask such a question suggest that you are not a lagosian or resident in lagos between 1999-2007 or you were still very much a child, unaware of the happenings in lagos. But don't take my word for it. Look up Lagos state in wikipedia or Google lagos state population census...... I partook of that census so I know 2 Likes 3 Shares |

Agbaje governorship race is Igbo project and it cannot serve Yoruba interest because Igbo never support Yoruba politicians that really love their people. The Igbo in Lagos are no more trading, they are now into politics . There is money in politics and Igbo in Lagos are investing heavily in this Agbaje project because Agbaje will dance to their tune .Igbo politics and Yoruba politics cannot coexist in Lagos and one must give way for the other. Igbo politicians in Lagos should be ready for the battle ahead . Agbaje is a front for desperate Igbo politicians that want to subdue Yoruba in Lagos. Political power is never shared and so Igbo politicians should come out openly and stop hiding under non-indigenes in Lagos to pursue Igbo agenda . 3 Likes |

If yes, can you trace your paternal genealogy to any ancient indigenous Lagos family? #2, please those infrastructures that Igbos met in Lagos were they developed by the Yorubas or the British? #3, can you dispute the fact that Igbos have been living and contributing to lagos' development before Tinubu's father was born? #4 if your ancestral boundary did not fall within Lagos territory what's the difference between you and any Igbo man in Lagos Finally, is any of these trio lagosian, Tinubu, fashola and ambode? 1 Like |
