Why Are Both Jesus And Satan Called The Bright Morning Star by Albie(m): 6:15pm On Apr 12, 2015
in Isaiah 14:12: “How you have fallen from heaven, O morning star, son of the dawn! You have been cast down to the earth, you who once laid low the nations!” (NIV). It is clear from the rest of the passage that Isaiah is referring to Satan . So in this case, the morning star refers to Satan. In Revelation 22:16, Jesus unmistakably identifies Himself as the morning star. Why are both Jesus and Satan described as the “morning star?m

The idea of a “bright morning star” is a star that outshines all the others. Satan, as perhaps the most beautiful creation of God, probably the most powerful of all the angels, was a bright morning star. Jesus, as God incarnate, the Lord of the universe, is THE bright and morning star. Jesus is the most holy and powerful “light” in all the universe. So, while both Jesus and Satan can be described as “bright morning stars,” in no sense is this equating Jesus and Satan. Satan is a created being. His light only exists to the extent that God created it. Jesus is the light of the world (John 9:5). Only Jesus’ light is self-existent. Satan may be a bright morning star, but he is only a poor imitation of the one true bright morning star, Jesus Christ, the light of the world.

It is worthy of note that Satan wanted to be LIKE God, therefore, after his fall, he sought out to be an imitator of God. With regards to this, any name Jesus was called, Satan was also called e.g Morning Star and Bright Morning Star, Lion of the tribe of Judah and Roaring Lion etc... Hope this helps. Shalom

Nice post. Furthermore, Isaiah 14:13 describes the angels as the stars of God and Lucifer was their overall leader hence I see morning star as a title to distinguish the masterpiece ( Ezekiel 28:12-16) star or angel from the others. Daniel 12:3b Matthew 13:43 shows that the saints will also shine like the stars or the sun but Christ's glory will outshine that of any saint in Heaven hence the title Bright and Morning Star.

They were not both called the bright morning star. Jesus is called bright, an additional adjective to His title. Why? Because He was made so much better than the angelic. Check the testimony of Him in Hebrews 1:4. I can go on and on, there's much to be said. However, this ebook will explain it in details...then you can understand the man Jesus: https://okadabooks.com/book/about/the_sons_of_el/17120

why the hell did God create him
when he knew he would rebel and cause problem to mankind
why the hell did God not forgive him can't he practice what he preaches

Your heart seems to be filled with anger against God. Have you always been incensed against God or this is the singular reason you got angry over Him?

Isaiah 14:12 was not referring to Satan, but it was a proverbial or taunt sayings against Babylon. Check Isaiah 14:4.

Nope, not that the king of Babylon is now a morning star, the proverbial saying is a taunt, much like a mockery.

Probably a case of old verses new.

Just as it was in the instance of the prince of the world, for while Satan was the old prince of this world, Jesus who dethroned him now became the reigning prince of the world.

They both rise with God until Satan's Jurisdiction became restricted to the Earth where animal life reigns..
Jesus is the Sole Heir to The Throne of Grace and has Jurisdiction in Heaven and on Earth.

The term "morning star" simply means the first intelligent creatures made before the creation of man! Job 38:7
So the term simply means angel, because both Jesus and Satan are angels in heaven the word of God referred to both as would other unseen intelligent beings!

It's a very good question. The answer is pretty involved too but it explains human history and, in fact, all of existence as well.

The short of it is this:

Man was created to replace Satan and the rebellious angels. Ultimately, that is what the Lord Jesus accomplished in His Humanity.

When He fulfilled God the Father's command to Him, that is, that He should willingly lay down His Life for sinners and take it up again, He was rewarded with the place that Satan despised and even more. He received the Name (or Rank) that is above every other and was given to rule over all of God's Creation as a Man. In His Deity, He was already King, but as a Man, He earned it with His Obedience to the Father.

Satan's place in pre-human history before his rebellion was that of God's Regent over the Paradise Earth. He was the highest-ranking angel and the very standard of perfection at the time. But his rebellion ruined him. Therefore, the Lord Jesus has replaced him now and has even earned a greater rank than Satan once held.

Also, in Christ, we who believe have also received the same high rank.
