Yea, like this enugu. Wow, see how enugu is developed than Birmingham. Thanks to phyno. grin
If you like pull images from Osogbo. It won't change the fact that Enugu is more resilient.

If you are pained, go beat Rockfeller Foundation.

What the East needs is to build its current cities INTO world class cities. No need to start a new city from scratch.

Take Enugu for instance. They only build up the major roads, largely ignoring side roads and inner city roads. Even when they do remember those sections, the roads are substandard. No sidewalks, no markings or streetlights. Open gutters. Why not deal with that and raise the standards of those cities rather than building brand new cities?

So they need to solve all those issues in Enugu, Owerri, Aba and other cities there. Same as cities around the country by the way, except Abuja.

word class bullshitt...its igbos that brought in the word ultra modern....una own hubris no be small thing....

That's Yoruba architecture from 19th century and still standing in pristine condition. We'll preserve our ancient inner city while we continue our modern development in zoned sections of the city.

This will become a tourist attraction sooner rather than later. Money maker $$$

There's nothing really architectural about those buildings, neither will they have any worth in terms of tourism in the future.
If Ibadan were to be the South East, most of those buildings would have been pulled down with modern buildings replacing them. I remember the Anglican and Catholic churches we met when we were kids. They weren't really bad, as a matter of fact, some of them had a little bit of European church architecture. They've all been demolished today and replaced with bigger and modern church auditoriums. A few of the buildings in Ibadan could have been left behind anyway to serve as memorials, but not having a large expanse of land crowded with such buildings, with people still living in them.
They are simply not worthy of human habitation in the 21st century. Fact!

It’s just funny how these fools keep deceiving themselves. Developed Lagos? How? By coming here to trade? By producing fake products? If you guys have ever developed any city, please replicate it in any eastern state. I dare to say Ibadan is even more developed than any state in the east. Isn’t why you guys can’t leave a meaningful life until u go to places like Lagos, Ibadan and even Kano. They even see themselves as the most successful. The last time I checked the richest in Nigeria and Africa, I didn’t even see any Igbo in top 10. They can only make mouth. Set of fools.
my dear don't even go there because an igbo man cannot pack all the money for himself while his relations are poor just like dangote and other rich yorubas do but rather an igbo man will distribut his wealth among his relations.an igbo will rather teach you how to fish than to continue giving you fish

Which enugu? I was born and grow up in enugu? Which part of enugu are you talking about that is world standard?
Ogui road? Upper chime? Presidential?

Travel to singapore and see cities in singapore. Travel to china and see cities there.
We can build a world class business and luxury city like dubai.
The vastness doesn't matter. It can be as small as festac town.

I don't think southeastfacts shares your view and one can say this is predominant amongst some Igbo youths and these will definitely not support your idea of investing billions of dollars in a project that will be met with a issue or another.
so let us say will build a mini Dubai in sango ota, warrior or uyo

I don't think what I wrote is very difficult to understand.
Many of the old houses I met in my village while growing up (most of which were built by my grandfather and his contemporaries) aren't there anymore. They have been demolished and replaced with newer buildings. That's what I meant by the term "pull down".

We have a history to preserve. You don't

We'll keep our ancient city-state structure with the relics and we'll keep building new buildings surrounding our ancient towns. The colonialists met us living in huge cities and they were dumbfounded, it's no accident that Yoruba is one of the most studied cultures worldwide and also the center of focus for every African studies Department in universities across the globe. It's also no accident that it survived slavery and it's indigenous religions are also in ascendance across the globe as i type this. Thanks but no Thanks. We'll keep our historic buildings intact. There's enough land to build new ones and we are building new ones while maintaining our ancient inner cities.

With a landmass about the size of Oyo State the south east is very small hence you have to demolish your old buildings to pave way for new ones.

It is as simple as that

When a city is resilient, what does it show?
Use the Internet, but it is not what you are hoping it is.A cat and a lion are grouped scientifically as members of the same family but clearly there are differences. grin

Surely this can be done...Igbos could emulate Hong Kong. Even while within China they are able to build their cities...Hong Kong has a population of below 8 million. Enugu could be the city with fast rail lines connecting the industrial towns like Aba, Onitsha, Nnewi and other influential towns...First pic is Hong Kong the others are Enugu...

You're right. That's a real fact!
If South East becomes a country tomorrow, it will have one of the highest population densities in Africa. There isn't much land to waste in most towns and villages.

lol. Why deceiving urself. The last time I checked, Ajegunle, Orile and some other poverty saturated arenas are dominated by Igbos with rich relatives. They will even confess that their unclean source of wealth make it impossible for their rich relatives to help them. Bro, just forget about trying to make urself look important and make urself important in real sense. It’s either they are importing substandard products, go into drugs or blood money. What kinda success is that?

If Lagos can accommodate as many Nigerians, the land mass of SE won't be much of an issue...With high rise buildings like the pic of Hong Kong attached, spaces will be saved for other purposes...

More of Enugu...these sprawling estates could be used for high rises...and save land...but constant power is needed tp move people up the flats. A small coal-powered plant could be built there in Enugu for power supply...

and there we have it.the reason no one will put his money on any dev project in the south east simply put put your dev at your own risk.
Lagos will always be a destination

Yeah, but I was only trying to agree with him as to why we demolish old houses in the South East to build new ones, while they retain their old, 'brown-roofed' houses.
They have a lot of land to spare, we don't have enough.

It doesn't mean anything. Igbos still build houses in Lagos and Abuja despite knowing that Nigeria may still break up in the near future. Who says a man from Oduduwa Republic can't own properties in the Republic of Biafra? Are you aware that Indians, Pakistanis and Arabs are among the biggest landlords in the UK? They own houses and rent them out to British folks as well as other people from ethnic minorities.
