APC will win Lagos. I don't think our Igbo brothers and sisters should be persecuted and most igbos I know in Lagos also see themselves as Lagosians too as other tribes who have spent most of their life here . Lagos is cosmopolitan and every tribe plays their part to make Lagos great not just we yorubas. We need igbos same way we need every tribe . However what I cannot accept is when people call Lagos a no man's land. That's totally wrong .

Amazing how some keep calling Lagos a no man's land .
The thing is my mum is from Lagos. Lagos Island to be precise. She can trace four generations back to her family house in Lagos Island. The history of Lagos from the period of the aworis showed that yorubas dominated the landscape prior to the Oba of Benin expedition. Every Oba of Lagos has been yoruba. Historically, yorubas have been the dominant tribe in Lagos even before Nigeria became a nation

Saying that Lagos is a melting point for everyone is acceptable. After all it is the commercial capital of Nigeria and so many tribes have lived their entire life here which is why its a melting point. London is another classic example as the curent Mayor of London is of Pakistani Origin but also sees himself as a Londoner. Look at the way Nigerians are moving to Canada for better opportunities in droves. Canada is also becoming a melting point.

I cant imagine the Mayor of London now saying simply because he is of pakistani origin, London is now a no mans land. Or, the millions of Nigerians and Africans who have left for Canada should now turn back and say that Canada is a no mans land simply because maybe one Nkechi Adebunmi should become Prime Minister of Canada in future.

The thing is when people say Lagos is a no mans land, they actually attempt to diminish the cultural ties that generations have had in Lagos prior to migration. Based on almost every known record, yorubas were the orignial settlers in Lagos. If I now move to Enugu or Kano and i am popular in my community there and i speak the language and i win a seat in the house of reps there and get a street named after me , can i then also turn arround and say Enugu or Kano is no mans Land ?

Lagos is a melting point. You can say you are also a Lagosian. It can be our lagos together if you want but to say its a no mans land in the context people say is offensive/insensitive to say the least.
You started well but started sounding too emotional and spoilt your good start.

See, "Lagos is no man's land" is a slang used by all including Yorubas themselves!

Everybody know Lagos is in Southwest Nigeria and by so, it belongs to Yorubas nobody is dragging that with you guys so stop making it seem like Igbos are dragging Lagos with Yorubas, how

The problem is, it seems Yorubas of recent have become too insecure in their own land maybe out of unnecessary fear of Igbos fast growth in wealth and population in Lagos.

You guys should stop worrying about nothing!

Even Toke Makinwa a Yoruba lady used "Lagos is no man's land" slang last 2 weeks when making a post on her twitter handle about the presidential election.

You guys should stop heating up the polity unnecessarily, the war una de find, una fit see am oh, hmmm

Ok.we can agree to disagree. However I insist that the radicals on both sides of the divide are in the minority and we have a duty to enlighten and educate them. Even if the oba of Lagos in his characteristic loquacious manner tells me that Lagos is a no man's land , I will disagree with him as we don't know where the new Lagos will be whether Enugu or Katsina and it won't be fair to call them no man's land in future due to high migration. I and most people I know are not jealous of igbos success rather we are in awe and respect the hustle they show . I also don't think yorubas are scared or insecure but what joins us as yorubas with every other tribe is greater than what divides us and I choose to focus on the former than the later. We can a be Lagosians . Lagos can be a rich melting point of diverse cultures just like London but like I said no one can say London is no man's land . Toke by the way is entitled to her opinion and I disagree with her

At this juncture, you people need to stop abusing that word 'host'.
Igbos and Yorubas have different ideologies on how things should be run and this stretches back to how their internal politics are run in their localities.

But trying to use the word 'host' as though to silence the views of the people, especially in areas where they constitute majority is downright pathetic.

How do you explain this 'host' terminology? What privilege are given to Igbos by the so-called 'hosts' that cannot be gotten elsewhere? Specifically, what privilege is granted to 'immigrants' to Lagos, new and old that qualifies the Yorubas as hosts? Free food? Free accomodation? Free health care? Free business start-ups? undecided

All the nonsense ibos are doing to the Yorubas, millions of them can't try it to the northerners

Igbos have tasted war, Igbos have single handedly faced the rest of Nigeria for good 2 years, you tell me what war bragging right or accolade do you have to bank on victory

Is it by using armed bandits and OPC members to attack law abiding unarmed Igbos going about their daily business that makes you brave Wait until war breaks out then you can start counting scores okay

Declare the war and let's see how far, idiots making noise online and heating up the polity with empty threats of war.

Stop attacking unarmed civilian Igbos, grow some balls and declare war so every Igbo will be ready and get armed, stop acting like coward Fulani herdsmen who only attack unarmed poor villagers in the middle of the night when they are sleeping and form brave, declare war and let everybody be at alert and let's fight it off once and for all, dimwit angry

Brother I wish to buy you a drink for this post. You captured my mind thanks a lot for dealing with those ignorant fools. Please WhatsApp me me with my number below let’s discuss business. I live in Indonesia
franchasng:
are you not ashamed of yourself Olatunji Taofeek

What do you think make a city rich, famous and great

You think it's when the city is habited by foolish, lazy tribalists who can't think creatively but are good at typing threats and hate words online, is that what you think will make your city great Kids lolz

Go and find out, what made USA the greatest and most prosperous nation in the world; it is their open door nature that brought in migrants, immigrants, etc from all races and nations to build America. That is why most wise and knowledgeable Americans are against Trump's harsh policies towards migrants and immigrants, they know that migrants and immigrants or foreigners built America, but kids like u don't know and won't know.

US Visa lottery played a key role in making America great, which is something Russia lacked, and reason Russia is not as prosperous and promising as USA today despite their technology prowees, because Russians are close minded racists, they hardly travel outside their shores to invest or allow immigrants or migrants to come into their nation to boost their economy.

You Yorubas are towing the same line that destroyed Northeastern Nigeria. The mass exodus of Igbos from Maiduguri and Yola had a very huge negative impact on those states' economy and even security today.

All these bullshit you kids keep typing about Igbos saying rubbish, Igbos are reading and they are very smart people, they are taking note, and with time you will understand the impact.

I have lots of friends who live abroad but have refused to buy any other land in Lagos, citing that Lagos is no longer safe, they now buy in Owerri, Enugu, Asaba, PHC, I am not here to peddle words with u, I am telling u confirmed impacts of you guys tribal threats against Igbos in Lagos.

Me, the land I have on Lagos Island, as a result of pressure from friends not to invest in Lagos property, I am already looking for buyer, which I haven't seen unlike before due to dwindling number of willing buyers.

Go to Italy, I have forgotten the name of that city, the indigenes go out of their way to protect migrants who are mostly blacks from Nigeria, etc and they even try to include them in their politics, and I was watching on CNN 2 days ago, they interviewed their communal leader abi mayor, he said they always ensure their policies are favorable to migrants and immigrants because that their city is one of the most prosperous cities in Italy despite recession in Italy as a result of migrants and immigrants who boost their economy, provide cheap labor and also tax boost.

But kids like you don't think.

You think if 70% of Igbos leave Lagos, Lagos will remain promising as it is now Keep on blabbing, only time will teach u hard lesson about life.

You can check from December 26 - January 6 of every year, compare how Lagos usually looks when majority of Igbos have traveled for Xmas to normal time, that should give you some tip.

Remember, Igbos control 95% of markets in Lagos, and most of these markets also rely on imported goods that come from:

China
Japan
America
Europe
South Korea
Thailand
India
Hong Kong
Indonesia

And Igbos as a result of their expedition nature make up 90% or more of people who control imports from the aforementioned countries, so their exit in Lagos will definitely collapse Lagos IGR and economy.

And if u think u can also import, then think again. Igbos over the years have spread their wings all over the world while u tribal urchins and local champions are busy mocking them for abandoning their villages to be traveling around the world, but yes their traveling around the world has made them pillars of world trade.

Igbos have made doing business easy and lucrative for all Nigerians. Look at Mini Importation business in Nigeria and Africa today, if not for Igbos who against all odds many years ago relocated massively to China, tell me how many Africans could have afforded to ship goods from China to Africa through DHL, Fedex, etc

Igbos made it easy for young Nigerians to start mini importation business with small capital and the reason many youths in Nigeria don't feel the impact of Buhari's poor governance that brought mass unemployment of Nigerian youths.

Yet you useless tribalists don't appreciate the great works Igbos are doing in your lives, fools!

So think before you talk, its not about internet war of words, Igbos have become indomitable, sadly

The reality on ground is that people can always disagree with words, but it'll take a great deal of provocation and ignorance for it to degenerate into violence, especially on a large scale.
While I do not believe these 'online' shenanigans can cause an ethnic rift between both tribes in the near future, I agree it is wise to seek caution now that the issue is at its humble beginnings.
I can't see myself translating my disdain for such online incitement towards the Yorubas I work with and live among. Even some comments here are betrayals to our common existence in reality.
