Prof. Simon Odey Ering, the collation officer for Abi local government announced this while presenting the result for the governorship election in the local government.

According to the report, the governorship election in Abi local government area of Cross River State was cancelled in 23 polling units as well as other polling units in the state, following violence and snatching of electoral materials.

“16,170 registered voters could not vote because of ballot box and ballot paper snatching and other violence in 23 polling units.”

“Some of the affected polling units are in Imabana, Ekureku, Itigidi, Ediba, Ebom and Igoligoli,” he revealed.

In Odukpani local government area also, election was cancelled in 11 polling units owing to violence.

Mr. Ashiru Emmanuel, the returning officer for the local government area disclosed this while presenting the result for the local government area.

According to the collation officer, Dr. David Imbua, election was also cancelled in 16 polling units in Yakurr local government area due to violence.
