Following the arguments. I do agree that we have to earn respect. The airlines treat us...as a people... the way they do because we allow it. We as a people do not pressure the suppressors... whether they be the airlines....foreign businesses...whoever....to toe the line. Our inaction is what gives them more power to treat us like animals. One of our problems is we keep quiet a lot, we get used to people not treating us right. I remember my experience with MTN customer service - the lady screamed at me - a customer representative - just because I asked her to clarify my call charges. If you do that in US, you will lose your job. I will just ask for your supervisor.
Custom and immigration at MMIA has been fantastic recently because one actor raised alarm of the mess at the airport. We need to start writing reviews of businesses . When they start losing money they will adjust. If 10 of us who had similar experience write - someone would see it. Rather than fighting ourselves here let's direct our anger to the right source. Nigerians can endure anything, let's set the social media on fire with how we are treated , you would be surprised at how many people would come out with their experience. If I did not put this out here, I would not know people have had same Experience. Reading from all of you has encouraged me to write a review, I am going to follow it up.

This is called Corporate responsibility. Yes it may seems like an ordinary apology but its on record that this happened and whenever it happens again we will escalate. This is a culture we should adopt in Nigeria, lets give feed backs, Lets give reviews. Do you know what review does in Amazon? Also Google and Yelp reviews are tools consumers use to determine if they would patronize a business. If Emirates, KLM or BA gets 500 Nigerians complaining of the same thing, trust me somebody would be fired !!!

Hmmm...what proof do you have to confirm this?

How are you not sure if those people were the ones that booked first and business class...and yes they will be given first priority with boarding the plane.

You've said it all. We're still on the same page. The blatant, unabated corruption going on at our airports especially the Lagos airport would make any reasonable person cringe.

Back to the root of change...... does the international head office know of this?...these are the people we need to send our complaints/observations. You would be surprised to see how quick the company loses its contract. This goes for all international corporations..... scared of negative publicity which will affect their bottom line.We need to make reports.

I'm with you on the issue with these airlines and the way they treat Nigerians. Not all their fault though. I go to Lagos 2 times a year so I have flown several of the European airlines from here (Chicago to Lagos). Was only flying United, until they cancelled the direct flight from Houston a couple of years ago. So back to the old way of going through Europe. Experienced the same Crap service with Lufthansa a few months ago. O'Hare to Frankfurt was excellent, however Frankfurt to Lagos Crap! Flew BA in March...I could not believe when they announced boarding at LHR and Nigerians started rushing and all sorts of commotion. I agree that we need to act respectful if we want to be treated with respect.

Exactly! They are all the same usual shitty service to Lagos. Excellent service from US, then everything changes on the Europe to Lagos leg. Be it BA, KLM, Air France, Lufthansa, Iberia, I've flown them all. The mostly use old aircraft on the Lagos route.

I wonder if folks from those African countries such as Kenya, Ethiopia, that have their own thriving airlines get treated the same way.

Most of our challenges in Nigeria are self inflicted - I read through I was disappointed how people were bashing each other - insulting the country and themselves.

Now let me give a very basic example - The roads and traffic in Lagos. My experience from traveling on Lagos road was insanity. Several times I asked my Uber driver why he is driving rough - he blamed the other road users. Why are you blaming other road users when you also are a terrible driver. We find faults in others but we never consider what we have also contributed to the problem.

The problem is - YOU ARE ALL DRIVING CRAZY !!! I can never drive in Nigeria. I used to think my brother in UK was forming when he said he cannot drive in Nigeria, until I came back and discovered same thing. I have never seen a country where people drive in between lanes. Those broken lines are meant to separate 2 lanes - you guys drive in the middle. You don't use your pointers , you all don't respect other motorist , you use your bumpers as weapons, commercial or private vehicles no difference. It was like a scene from Mad Max.
We do not see our own faults, we blame everybody else but ourselves. Nigeria is not about the land or geographical area, it is we the people !! So if you say Nigeria is not good - it is you and me !!! We are not good !!!

When I went for my driving test in US , the test instructor asked where I am from when he heard my accent - I said Nigeria !! He screamed !!! Nigerians are terrible drivers - na there fear catch me whether I go pass this test. Alas I passed because I read all road codes.

The funny thing I saw in Nigeria were the STOP signs - for all we care in Nigeria those signs were invisible - people just drive pass it. What of traffic light ? The average Uber breeze through red light like demons on a mission - I was always screaming - extremely dangerous to do that !!!

I cant lie to you all...that was the most stressful vacation I have ever had....when I got back to Chicago , I knelt down and thank God that I survived - glad to be "home" . I got into my car, drove on peace and tranquility - appreciated America more.

Naaaaaah. I can't remember saying America is perfect but my dear if I have to choose....hehehehehehe.

Not all my family members are in Nigeria but those that are there are very comfortable, so it ain't all about comfort Staying in an hotel was just for the convenience of everyone. Even when I went to New York for Vac and I had friends all over , I still stayed in an hotel. I love the freedom and i love my personal space.
Although I cannot risk mosquito bites because I do not have the Nigerian immunity again.
On a final note . you are right ..we are all part of Nigeria's problem.

5 Star Hotels usually cost $$$

i.e. Staying at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel OR Four Seasons Hotel during the weekend is going to set you back at least a $1000+

Usually that’s where NFL Football Teams as well as NBA Basketball Teams Lodge whenever they’re in town for their away games...

I heard both Qatar Airways & Emirates Airline offer better inflight Services...

Lol, you know we Americans plan our vacation spending way before time. I had a sibling coming in from UK for vacation in US and he was at the Holiday Inn in the lower Manhattan - so I didn't have a choice - I planned to drink the garri later..Hahahahaha.
