Tiwasmum: Very encouraging and the way it should be! Mums with previous birth discounts, don't despair. I remember how especially hard it was in 2016/17 to get PTA dollars as little as $4,000 at official rate, with black market at almost N500 at the time, even with discounted bills, it was a struggle so no bill from that time can really be called 'cheap.'. To be a self-pay patient is not beans o; we agree that it is their country and their discretion but VOs should try to be more realistic and accomodating if they're not just looking for excuses to deny visa re-issues. 6 Likes |

I would advice that when you travel by May try and do your Canadian visa in us it takes about 1 or 2 weeks that way when you are renewing your us visa you won’t be desperate and having the Canadian visa will help your case. You can also renew your us visa before it expires. smokeydrinky: 1 Like |

MsJanez01: El Paso is accepting payment from patients who wish to pay their discounts, it's been mentioned several times. It's unfortunate that people have made payments toward the hospital and doctor, not owing anything, just to receive a receipt of paying a higher bill, but its available. Its also been mentioned that El Paso is still honoring the previous prices but the hospital and doctors (www.doctoresparati.com) will also bill more if the patient wishes to pay more. 2 Likes 1 Share |

Wow! So sorry, I remember I had same issue while trying to get itemized receipts from all the providers. Funny enough, Sheridan responded and sent my bill via email, so also Dr Fitzhugh. I had issues with both Henrico and NAPA. It took like 3weeks before NAPA sent my receipts through email. The financial counselor at Henrico insisted on not removing the almost 10,000usd discount. I agree with you, if Henrico can be avoided. Ppl should because I have not been able to renew my visa. drafrican: |

OmoBendel24: On the VOs thread, though I didn’t ask the questions exactly like this (some bit of modification), below is their response thus far, we can go ask further questions if not satisfied or clearly understood (I myself fall in this category despite going over the HOWEVER part of the response over and over as I mostly see a pre-interview situation therein instead of post-birthing). “Hello ctrlunlimited and OmoBendel24, Our policy is the same as it has always been. We ask all applicants to be honest about their intended activities in the United States, and the interviewing officer must be satisfied that the applicants can afford the kind of travel they are planning. This includes prospective students, business travelers, tourists, and those seeking medical care, and it applies to everyone around the world, regardless of nationality. If you visit our website at https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/tourism-visit/visitor.html, you will see that receiving medical care in the United States on a B1/B2 visa is legal. However, the website also states that applicants must demonstrate that they can afford to pay the "doctors’ fees, hospitalization fees, and all medical-related expenses". Though every situation is different, accepting discounts or paying less than the full amount can raise questions about the applicant's finances, credibility, and their intent and ability to pay for the full cost of their care.” https://www.nairaland.com/5073097/u.s-non-immigrant-visas-listening-pt#76642065 3 Likes |

Re: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 6 by drafrican: 5:53pm On Mar 15, 2019 |
mumzt: What i can deduce is 1) have a fat bank account 2) take no discount or payment adjustment 3)make sure your bill is an average of what is quoted for an insured patient Hope dey know 10,000 dollar bill in 2014 was 1.55m and is now 3.6m There is a new one i heard VO asked “madam do you consent to a pregnancy test” its officially “hot” Lets be on d lookout for those who get pregnant 2 days before the interview 2 Likes |
Re: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 6 by aye88: 7:01pm On Mar 15, 2019 |
drafrican: Lol. But to be fair, most of us dont even know theres a discount or adjustment till you see the itemized bill. You get and hospital and you ask them for price. They tell you they have an OB package for self pay patients. They give you the bill and you pay. Even give a zero balance letter. Is was until we started asking for itemized bill that we got to know there were adjustments. Rather than refuse visas, they should rather put a warning for people not to accept hospitals below a certain rate. 5 Likes |

aye88: Discount is an excuse being used by the US Embassy. Discounts are not govt subsidized and are available to all non-insured self paying patient whether they are local or international. 2 Likes |

peacenigeria: Thank you o. The bottom line is they are trying to clap back on birth tourism. Reduce it to the barerest minimum and would only grant to those who will pay heavily for it. 1 Like |

Thanks for this feedback . Well its obvious they dint answer the main issue here. Most of us presented thesame discounted letter during previous pregnancy and visa was approved , so why has that changed . It's like they are setting a trap for us to fall into. Well as someone said here . It's their country and their rules o. It's just to have an open mind if visa is approved or not. If you visit our website at https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/tourism-visit/visitor.html, you will see that receiving medical care in the United States on a B1/B2 visa is legal. Madriel: You need to get the baby birth certificate first at Vital record and the baby SSN at the social security administration office . But the SSN card will be delivered to your address. This are the two most important documents you need to apply for passport. If your husband is there with you, both of must appear for the baby passport application. 2 Likes |
