I laugh in swahili. How can there be maintenance culture, when construction contracts are awarded in government houses to portfolio carrying politician contractors. Its is absolutely wrong. Each state can create 5000 additional jobs by ensuring that each ministry and department of government works. Someone will ask me how are they going to be paid, local authorities will collect levies, fees, fines etc. If all traffic offenders within a particular locality are fined, it will be enough to pay workers.

Lagos is such a useless place.. Despite all the investment and development set out by the igbos.. See the result of Governanace by the Afonja Gov.

Lagos is a useless place yet your people want to die in Lagos. The other time that Fashola abducted you people at different parts of Lagos and dumped you at Upper Iweka at 2:00AM, before 2:30AM you miscreants have jumped into Mallam Abubakar's trailer carrying cows to Lagos.

Federal ministry of works& fashola don't use nairaland. D easiest way 2 get in touch with them is via twitter not nairaland. It will interest u to note that this issue was brought 2d attention of d FMW& d minister on twitter& they promised to fix d bridge. If that hasn't happened, u can still send a reminder to them on twitter

One of the major problem with government is lack of maintenance culture , I don't understand what is the work of ministry of work , not to have noticed till it get to this stage . God forbid if any thing happened now the will setup one useless committee to look into the cause and how to prevent future occurrence . It only shows that most of the people in helms of affairs in Nigeria are incompetent , lazy , inexperience and wicked .

Is it only government?
What of you? Do you have maintenance culture How often do you repair, repaint, refurbish your house, old school, office, shop, mosque, church etc? If you don’t why should your government do

Last year federal government checked the bridge, I initially thought they were going to fix it immediately but nah lie.

Yes, the federal government checked it in August and declared it structurally sound (see link below).

Abuja is over 40 years old, and has been the official capital for almost 30 years (28 years precisely).

Lagos has a Public Works Corporation that patches up potholes and maintains road furniture (street lights, guard rails, etc) on state roads.

LASPARK (the Parks and Gardens agency) also offers tree emergency (that is, calls to remove fallen trees) and trimming/maintenance services.
