They just shortlisted you doesn't mean you have gotten job, i will advise you to continue with your school and also attend the airforce screening if eventually you finally succeeded then leave school and go for the job...Because the shortlist will be in stages until final list will come out and this might take like 3-4 months

I repeat do not join the Air Force recruit get the education and you can still join the Air Force as an officer rather than as ordinary airman.

Difficult one I must say but I advise you go with the force. Subsequently you can further and add your result

If u decided to go as a recruit for the air force, I tell u in the future u will regret this decision because d possibility for a recruit to get to d top of his career in d force is almost impossible. You r too young for this now. Go to d university, study hard, make good grades n I believe God will direct your path because if school did not favour another person, it does not mean that it won't favour you. Everybody has his or her destiny in life.

Here is my candid advise. You were only shortlisted for screening into NAF. You have not been selected but you have gotten admission and u re through with ur clearance. If you join the Force now without ur certificate, you can never attain the commissioned ranks till you retire. So here is what you are gonna consider. If you want to join force to SERVE your country for life, go ahead but you will not be well paid and u will not be comfortable and u will be a servant. If you want the comfortable life type, then go to the university.

Go for your education. Don't for any reason think that you will easily further your education after you get the Airforce job. Easier said than done.
You won't have the time.

Go and grab your degree, develop a side hustle to make some money for yourself while you study. You can join later if your are lucky enough as a commissioned Officer with your degree.

Don't say I didn't tell you. I know fully well what is involved.

My Friend, I will advice you like a brother. I was born and brought up in the Air force barracks. So my candid advice is this: Go to the university and study hard, come out with a gud grade and apply for DSSC. As a recruit, it very difficult to secure the DSSC or SSC. And moreover, you were just shortlisted for the recruitment screening exercise. The salary for recruit is not up to 70k. The choice is urs. Thanks

Good day house. I have been offered admission into the university and also shortlisted for Nigeria Air Force (recruit)
Please I am really confused on which to pick. I have done registration for my school and I really don't want to miss this opportunity of job. Please your advice and criticism is welcome.

Baba u will be an airforce recruit and not an officer if u enter with SSCE result oh. How much do u think is their salary? Maybe 40K to 50K. Na wetin u go collect for years and even if u promote, u cant get to high ranking officer level because u are an SSCE holder. Also remember it may not be easy to further ur education once u join airforce. Dont allow the joy of 50K job now deprive u of a better job in future.

You better gain admission and get a degree with good grades then u enrol in airforce with your degree. You will be an officer with good pay and u can rise in rank to the top.

So its a win-win situation. Go to school, get ur degree and then enrol with ur degree into the airforce if u still wish to join at that time.

75K where?
Assumption kills. Stop assuming. No recruit receives up to 75K.

I know their exact pay but i aint disclosing it. But just know its not even up to 60k.
And you said 'Leta do part time' as if its too easy.

You guys shouldn't discourage this boy or girl from getting an education please.

Hello friend, you may has heard about 55k and become overwhelmed.
There is nothing at this moment that can quantify your education . If you join airforce, police , army , navy or any other uniform organization in this country as a recruit, take it or you leave it, you are only going to become a mere servant to the young graduate that you will meet there as your commanders. If you must join any, go through the academy . Note!, no course in the uni is less than others, provided you can do it and do it very well, you must always has a good opportunity.
Dont fear about your feature , simply fear about your past.......fearful men never win a battle.

There are two different sectors, Commissioned those that got employed with their degrees/master Degree, their pay is okay about 160k for Freshers, and the Non-commisioned the one the OP is trying to do, he only needs his SSCE, about 30-35k for Freshers.

The OP should look at the kind of course he got, if its very lucrative, he should forget about Air Force, and be very prayerful. He can still apply for short service of 'Commisioned' after attaining his degree.

You understand the segmentation but you are very wrong about the pay.An ACM is paid about 52k

Compared to the 35k someone said, yes. 55k is a good start. How much does N power pay?

You don't get it do you? You are comparing two unfortunate scenarios. Let me ask you some questions; how much does a fresh graduate employed in banks earn? 180k - 250k. And b4 you ask how many people get the job, with a 2'1, you are sure to be invited for a screening test in any bank that is recruiting and trust me, the lot I know employ fresh graduates at least twice a year.

With a good degree, you are sure to be shortlisted for as much interviews as possible. The rest is now left on your personal capacity and how well you can sell yourself. It's not ghosts that work with blue chip companies in this country. If you decide to be competing with the N-powers, that's quite unfortunate. You can advise him to enroll into airforce and start earning 64k per month. After 5yrs, when his mates are thru with school and service, he will be an air corporal earning 74k per month while his mates that are now graduates will enroll as commissioned lieutenants with nothing less than 180k per month. At the peak of his career, after over 25yrs of service, he will be a warrant officer earning a little over 100k with 4 children to cater for while his mates are mostly in their senior managerial role, majors and captains earning nothing less than 1mil per month.

The land is fallow and fertile, you can chose to be a mediocre and end up jelousing your peeps forever.

I was in your shoes five years ago, I got admission to university of ibadan and also got air force. Its been a roller-coaster since then.

I would advise you to go for the school if your parent can sponsor you through the school, forget about the instant gratification of collecting 65k in a month without peace of mind and being the servant everywhere you find yourself cos you joined with ssce.

I would advise you to forgo the school if you're from a very poor background without anyone to look out for you.

I wish you good luck in whatever choice you make.

Well you are not right with the salary you mentioned though... but like you said this is a great gamble for the Op... I passed through similar situation.. I joined the Army with my SSCE.. after which i struggled to further my Education and today am a presidential commissioned Officer in the Navy. Still have some of my friends struggling with no Job even after Uni. Now my advise: if the course the Uni offered you is Medicine then go for it otherwise Join the Airforce you won't regret. But if i were you... i would try and find a way to secure my admission until i am fully enlisted into the force... cos it can be dicey at times. And always seek the face of God and i wish the OP the best.

MaziOmenuko:
I see a lot of peeps advising you to chose being an airman than getting an adequate education. After serving 25yrs as an airforce recruit, a newly commissioned officer with a degree certificate will still rank above you. I don't know why people have this primitive mentality of grabbing anything that comes their way because the cowards are afraid of tomorrow. If you are above 23yrs, you can enroll into the airforce, if not, enroll into the school and get educated. Education is not just about getting work; it sets you up and equips you for the life journey ahead.

Just know that if you enroll into airforce now, their is a limit to what you can achieve in the future. your promotion is capped at a certain limit. With an adequate education, you can soar higher than what you are dreaming of right now. Don't be myopic.

May God bless you. People don't know the difference between a commissioned officer and a recruit. Plus also the airforce isnt something that you can go in and come out whenever you like. Joining any military organization means that you are putting at least 10 years of your life in it.
Please OP, accept the admission, make a decision to come out with at least 2.1 and be EDUCATED, not just schooled. You will have better opportunities

30-35k kwa.. Na boys scout?
Ordinary civil defence SSCE earn 42k then Air Force official 35k? Don't type for typing sake please [/quote

Be specific with yourself, does 42k sound OK for you as a salary in d force. How do u want him to cope with this n don't forget he will be subjected to a very hard n difficult job at his level. Growing will be another challenge for him. The time he will finally regret it, is when he discover after serving for so many years but still stagnant n a young graduate will come in a short time n becomes his boss with a fatter salary n other packages.

I had similar challenge sometimes ago and I thank God I took the right step

Things to consider first
1. Are u financially stable to sponsor your self
2. Did you have any sponsor

If the two answer above is no my brother go for Airfoce
With that you can be able sponsor your self to any level in life especially in Airfoce

So Don't dull your self use your head

Learn to drop this negative elimination approach to thinking, "after all this other option has so and so worse possible outcomes". Why would you think that the OP will go to the university only to come out and get N Power Job? Why not reason he can come out as an excellent candidate? He can be an inventor? A wonderful young scholar? Why not see the better possibilities
