Orji Okonkwo warmed up for international duty with Nigeria U23 with his first goal for his loan side Montreal Impact in their 3-1 win away to Orlando City in the MLS, Owngoalnigeria.com reports. Okonkwo who is on a season long loan deal from Italian Serie A side Bologna scored the opener for his team in the 14th minute before Ignacio Piatti fired a brace to wrap up the win in emphatic style. Listed among the strikers who will lead the attack for the U23 team of Nigeria against Libya in the Africa U23 Cup of Nations Qualifiers game in Tunisia and Nigeria respectively, his goal will no doubt put him in a positive mood ahead of the encounter. A member of the 2015 Nigeria U17 team he will probably lead the line for the coach Imama Amapakabo side who are in need of a positive result away from home before the return leg in Asaba. Expected to fly directly to Tunisia from his base in the United States of America, Okonkwo will battle for a spot in attack alongside the trio of Taiwo Awoniyi, Dennis Bonaventure and Uche Okereke of Spezia. 1 Like |

BascoVanVeli:Odey had two passports with two different ages did he not?? Although I think it's a bit unfair since Rohr vouched for him and helped him get the visa - I'm glad Imama is taking no chances(if it's true). Besides, Odey should be getting a look in with SE instead. 1 Like |

BascoVanVeli: There were 2 public ages for Odey at some point, 19 and 22. No one was sure which was correct and according to some reports, it hurt a potential move. I believe it was to Denmark. The discrepancy between the age on Odey's passport and certificate hurt his move to FC Midtjylland. Imama made a comment about removing those with age discrepancies so it is possible, that is a consideration. No one is arguing about whether he deserves it but the strikers in the team also deserve their place and at the end of the day, the coach has to make a choice. Odey can play from the wings but the team is loaded with natural wingers. 2 Likes |

Age falsification scandal: NPFL top scorer, Stephen Odey kicked out of Danish club The Nigeria Professional Football League NPFL, top scorer, Stephen Odey is set to return to the country on Saturday after his ambition to join Danish topflight side, FC Midtjylland was thwarted. The player is currently at the center of the news on an alleged age falsification scandal. AOIFootball.com reports that Odey’s planned move to FC Midtjylland collapsed due to age falsification. According to the newspaper, the age Odey presented in his passport was totally different from what was on his certificate. It said, “The Danish club have asked Odey to leave their Sports Complex immediately due to the development.” The player is said to be on his way back to Nigeria from Denmark via KLM airline at about 10:05am. . He will arrive Amsterdam precisely 11:15am while he departs Amsterdam through the same ‘KLM airline’ 13: 45 and lands in Muritala Mohammed international airport in Lagos, Nigeria 7.25 pm. http://dailypost.ng/2017/05/06/age-falsification-scandal-npfl-top-scorer-stephen-odey-kicked-danish-club/ |

tbaba1234: You also know that all that was the handy work a disgruntled agent. Tell the whole story. Why then did he get the deal to Zurich even though it was in the last minute? He should be playing in Nigeria today if all that is true. |

tbaba1234: Fake news. The Danish club would have made it public if that is what happened. They would have no reason to protect Odey |

BascoVanVeli: I do not know anything about an agent angle but even before then, there were arguments about his age. If he made that mistake once, i am sure, he would tidy up his paperwork for any other offer. |

tbaba1234: Tbaba I'm waiting for the appropriate time to reply you by 6:30pm or thereabout when Villarreal plays and star boy is glued to the bench. Here is the former coach's report on him; "He's a player who floats across the ground – it seems as if he doesn't even touch the grass – but he's still developing. He has to work more in defence." Luis García, former Villarreal coaching staff His frail ability to defend has been what has condemned him to the bench. Not that he is being reserved for games. 3 Likes |

BascoVanVeli: Well, I feel the coaches will still give him the chance. There are too many talented young strikers out there. From that 23 man list only 18 will make the match day squad. Even making it more competitive. And this is good for Nigerian Football. I can't wait to watch those guys play |
