Gowon sold bakasi, was only transferred by Obasanjo to camerioun. It's been on record during the civil war.
The book of history cant lie. That's why its important to always think of the future before a leader takes a drastic decision, same mistake Russia made by ceding Alaska to yankee, which they still regret till tomorrow. Privatising nitel had brought huge fortunes to Nigeria and Nigerians. Others may have failed but at least , nitel is a huge success. Millions of Nigerians have joined the league if millionaires through the privatisation of nitel. I remember growing up, the bill nitel used to give us was alarming, despite their poor services. Nitelcould only be patronised by the rich, not now that if possible, a goat could be given a line to make calls. Nitel that time was like the nnpc of today because the government thought they were making huge revenue from the telecom sector so, they were in absolute control of it. Corruption was the order of the day. After privatisation, what the fed govt realised on the licences alone, tripled their 10-year projected revenue, not to talk of taxes and other earnings . Privatisation remains the best option, if properly done...not the type we have in case of phcn discos which were bought by the likes of mama peace, abdulsalaam Abubakar and bola Tinubu.

If obassnjo was running for president and he said he would collapse nitel, he would have lost the Election woefully.

Though I think the issue with atiku is credibility. His credibility is shot.

Russia selling Alaska to America was one of the biggest gaffes of the 20th century.
America bought a region far bigger than Nigeria for just 10 million dollars.
And it has a direct advantage of sharing border with Russia to facilitate quick incursion.

Why are Atiku and El Rufai lamenting when they could have done something drastic about the precarious situation of NNPC populated by their friends and families.

Till today I don’t know how NNPC has benefited the common Nigerian. I was surprised watching how people condemned the move to sell NNPC and accused el Rufai and Atiku of planning to sell the company to themselves. In 2015 el Rufai declared that he was worth 90 billion naira . In 1999 Atiku declared a net worth of over $500 million. How does hating them on this NNPC sale issue favour the average man on nairaland who is probably hoping to get a 6M-10m per annum Job at NNPC ? It will even be easier to get employed in a more transparent NNPC than what the country has today

I heard NNPC is inviting application for recruitment purposes.

The last time NNPC officially attempted recruitment was in 2012. My question is: does it mean NNPC has never recruited anyone since 2012, 7 years?

Being a stakeholder in the last "failed" recruitment of 2012, I will tell you what happened;

The application came out in 2012 and prospective applicants applied for Graduate Trainee.

In 2013, applicants were told to update their details.

In 2014, applicants wrote their aptitude tests in different centres across the nation.

I remember that time; many applicants had already forgotten about their application, and people had to physically visit the courier service centre to collect their invite letters.

I wrote my test in Enugu.

Many people travelled from overseas to write the exam in Nigeria as there were no centres abroad, unlike NLNG.

In February 2015, interview success emails flew in. I remember happily receiving the success message.

Then suddenly, we, successful candidates, got another message saying our invitation had been postponed indefinitely. The agency in charge of the recruitment, if I remember correctly, was Phillips Consulting.

And up till this moment, there were no interviews. The recruitment has now been cancelled officially with this new application. I hope this application does not follow the same unfortunate route.

Mr. El Rufai in 2015 had said NNPC was a monster that should be killed or it kill Nigeria.

NNPC retained 42% of Nigeria’s money, and remitted only 58%, according to him. The long and short of the situation of our oil industry is best exemplified by the parallel government called the NNPC.

No wonder, Atiku said NNPC was a mafia institution, and he had vowed, even under the threat of death, to sell it (90%) to private investors, if he were to be elected President

But uninformed fools were against Atiku for saying that he would sell NNPC. Most Youths are illiterates.

Bakassi was the promise that Nigeria, under Yakubu Gowon made to Cameroon.

On a serious note many Nigerian worker pay tax because it is automatically deducted unlike other countries. And some of our taxes are indirect. Also No single person is entitled to our tax, not even the government officials, it is all ours.

Oga, we are being realistic here not playing politics. This is not about Atiku and El Rufai; it is about a nation and a fraud called NNPC.

Let me ask you a question: have you ever seen the audited financial statements of NNPC in your life; has it ever been published? Why is NNPC, a public corporation, so clandestine in it's business affairs?

My take remains that a corporation as big and complicated as NNPC should not be managed by government; it should be privatised and un-bundled, at best, to achieve efficiency, effectiveness and accountability.

This government is only deceiving Nigeria youths by putting out vacancies for jobs only meant for the selected north. The DPR employment what happened? The few south employed were probably the about 30 names the VP sent and few that got employed by paying for it to work as boiboi to the north. I never expected pa Buhari to do this to everybody he swore to protect and care for, but is no, it is for just one tribe, pass or fail. Aisha is aware of all this yet is very comfortable saying she is for the youth, her selected youth and women. What happened to the teaming merit pass that were seen, some of them, their pass numbers were sold to those politicians for their children. It is also vowed as we heard that those from Niger delta will not smell government jobs because they are meant for the north. Shame, big shame to the educated or assumed educated people at DPR. Shame on you all.

So what happens to what he studied in school? What happens to what he spent years learning? Must we all resort to self employment? What happens to duty of the government who promised to provide jobs for people? If we all become self employed, who will man the hospitals, the banks, the schools and all?

It was Buhari's regime that cancelled that employment of theirs. I remember vividly and it also extended to the DSS recruitment.

Now they are starting another recruitment to deceive people and paint Atiku bad for proposing to sell NNPC.

For those of you that support these evil incarnate, do not demand anything from Nigeria because you don't deserve it. When power goes off, goes off don't complain, when health care doesn't work, don't complain, when roads are bad, don't complain, when building collapse don't complain...

Some times I wish an atomic bomb will just drop and kill all of us within this cesspool because we are entirely useless to the world.

Because something tells me that when they were in power...they were forbidden from selling NNPC.

Then see the reaction when Atiku talked about selling NNPC. For all the corruption in NNPC, most Nigerians don't want it sold. Frankly, as an Atiku opponent (and APC opponent)...I think we need to sell NNPC.
