Nigeria Customs Service Promote Officer Who Rejected $420,000 Bribe. The Comptroller General of The Nigerian Customs Service, Col. Hameed Ali (rtd), has promoted Comptroller Bashir Abubakar of Apapa Area Command to an Assistant Comptroller General (ACG).

Mr Abubakar was the officer who, last year, rejected a $420,000 bribe handed over to him by a drug trafficking cartel, to take delivery of 41 smuggled containers of Tramadol. Nigeria Customs Service Promote Officer Who Rejected $420,000 Bribe Abubakar refused the bribe and seized the consignment.

Tramadol is a pharmaceutical product prohibited under Nigerian laws. The abuse of Tramadol is known to have dire health consequences among the population.

I'll bet you $420,000 the bribe was offered to the guy by a yanminri trying to sneak contraband and expired drug into country and ruin lives.

chai....this is alot of money....we are in big trouble if some people can offer such amount of money....you need very strong minded people to resist such a amount.... undecided undecided

Nigeria should thank God that the man on duty is not from eastern part of the country.

What a bloody joke. Comptroller of APAPA Area Command rejecting a mere $420k is like Tinubu 'rejecting' a 'bribe' of $1m to surrender Lagos.
