RealityShot:
does i-invest app give upfont interest?
is that app immune to hackers?
is your tablet/smartphone immune to hackers/theft?
how can you be encouraging people to put their life savins and gratuity in the hands of some young programmers who are probably underpaid and liable to peer-pressure?
or have you not seen the movie JURASSIC PARK?
IF THAT APP IS HACKED tomorrow, will that tiny bank pay evryone their money back?
perhaps you think it is everyone that is doing N100k tbills.
Please do not promote that app AT ALL!!!

1. I-invest doesn't give upfront interest

2. The app is just an interface to show you details of your investment, allow you to place orders for tbills and give instructions to withdraw your money when you want. They give you email trails of each instructions carried out for you so even if the app is broken you have data external to the app to back up your claim.

3. Hacking the app is not a viable venture unless you leave money in your wallet and hackers use the app to withdraw money from your wallet. If that happens you'll receive an email from the app confirming your withdrawal instructions...now if you leave your phone to be hacked, that's your fault..not the fault of the people behind i-invest

4. The developers make a spread between the rate they get tbills from cbn and the rate they send to you. They make that spread quickly and turn around to buy more to sell to more investors in tbills, so they actually make a lot more than you in a shorter time because they dont have to hold the Bill's to maturity

My personal experience, I invest failed to care even with my money in their kitty. Las las I wasn't paid interest for the period the money was with them.
My bank, FBN confirmed money left my account to destination. I invest said they can't see my money. Sterling Bank said they are only bankers, it's between 2 customers so I go sort it out with I invest. I stay in Uyo, no I invest office. I then threatened my bank who then lodged a complaint with cbn and the threat made I invest to call me within 2 days and claim they have seen my money in their coffers. All this took away over 3 weeks from me and even when they claim interest will be paid for the period, they never did and I was contented with my capital. That was my personal frustrating experience.

You're blaming the interbank failure on i-invest. If you transferred money from your account to the app wallet and there's a glitch along the way, how is that the fault of i-invest...

it took you 3 weeks to sort out the issues and you never bought tbills using the app yet you want them to pay you interest, what exactly did you invest in that you're demanding interest for?

Hello house,

I'm a student and willing to invest #50k that I have in my acct so I won't have to be disturbing my parents for money while in school. I've learnt on this platform that the lowest you can invest on TB is #100k.

I want you guys to put me through on the best platform in which I can invest this money and will yield interest that I can use to sustain myself while in school. Anticipating your explicit response.

Thanks.

Hmmm.....best forum ever. But for those of us following behind , how much capital do u have now and what level of income do u wish to have before retiring.

It may seem too personal a question, but pls indulge us/me for mentorship purpose.

Some of us need to copy and paste or spy small.

I started Tbill 3 yrs ago, and as previously stated my goal is to ensure that I transfer 10-12m naira annually to my Nigeria bank accounts. 90% of that money is invested into Tbill, the remaining 10% to help some of my family members when pressing needs occur. If God sustains my life and I continue doing this for another 15-20 years, you should have a clearer picture of what my account would look like then.

To answer your question, personally it's hard to ascertain how much I wish to have for retirement because I'll be relying on residual income(stream) from various sources even after I retire. In other words, I'm still getting paid even while I'm asleep or while on vacation as a retired person...that's the beauty of residual incomes from your smart investment in your heyday.

My only advice for some of us in Nigeria is simple: As we say in Nigeria, ''Cut your coat according to your size.'' I live in America, I can afford to lease or finance a 2019 Range Rover Autobiography because of my financial capacity coupled with my excellent credit rating. But guess what, we keep it simple here. As a contractor, I have my work trucks and one family car. Please don't try to copy the local Nigerian celebrities..some of them are broke but try to lead a fake life just to impress you and make you feel less human. I saw on Instagram today, a local boy called Mayorkun who claimed to have spent N35m on a Mercedes Benz CLA250, and his fans are showering him with praise. My question is: If he spent N35m = $97,2000 U.S. on ordinary CLA250, then how much would he pay to acquire the CLA45 AMG, the upgraded version of the cla250?

I have nothing against the young man, I only advise that you guys stop feeding on their lies and bullsh*t. Just work hard, invest some of your money for a better tomorrow, but spoil yourself every now and then as you invest. Don't deny yourself of the very essential necessities of life all in the name of investment, tomorrow is not promised to anyone. God bless!

When you ask a question like this, should you not open the floor? How much capital do you have now Zamirikpo, both in tbills and whatever other kind of investments out there (eg mmf)? And what level of income do you wish to have before retiring? Please answer for mentorship purposes.

If you are working for I invest, I will advice that you don't expose them further. Now I have stated this same story before here. I took time to spell stuffs out as it seems people didn't understand me. Am surprised that you still don't comprehend my summary of events. I invest is an investment app. The only reason I will send money there is to invest and make profit and not a savings account. My money arrived I invest but they failed to credit my I invest account. When I enquired, I was told the money didn't arrive and I was pushed away. I wasn't in town, it took more than 2 weeks before I got back and went to my bank and they confirmed that my money arrived the I invest account in Sterling Bank. Since I invest still claim the money didn't get to them, I approached Sterling Bank and was told it's a matter of 2 customer, that they can't go into I invest account without their approval. I should sort it out with them. Uyo to lag because of few millions was part of the bargain. I approached my bank and accused them of stealing my money that it never delivered and that and going on social media to seek public opinion. The manager now advice one of her staff to complain to cbn and I was asked to come back in 2 days. On the second day, I invest gave me a call and apologize that the money was with them and I will be refunded before close of work with interest and I told them am find. Later that evening my capital alone was refunded. Case closed. Meanwhile I had about 4 other transactions going on with them. My only waited patiently for maturity of other investments and took off for good. I don't pray you have millions missing online without a trace for 3 weeks then your present narrative wouldn't be the same.

I actually dont work for i-invest. I just use the app and understand how the banking system in naija works...

the response you got from sterling bank is based on the question you asked. If there's a glitch in the system, it's possible your deposit was not properly reflected to the I-invest team so they can credit your wallet and because you were out of town, you couldn't sort out the issues

The app is used for investment. The fact that you transfer money to the wallet of the app doesn't mean you have invested in treasury bills. You have to use the funds you transferred to buy specific tbills with specific maturity date for you to say you have invested

From your story, you most likely started accusing the bank and the I-invest team rather than sorting the issue out properly and pulled your money out when you were supposed to be buying tbills, so it's sad your money got tied up in the system but that doesn't entitle you to interest payment. What happened to you is not the fault of I-invest but rather that of the nibss, your bank and sterling bank

Very well said, some people don't have the understanding that i-invest is a customer of Sterling and not owned by Sterling Bank.

You were lucky to have been around, some people won't be that lucky if there is no awareness about this app.

Imagine sending N10 to N20 million via i-invest while you are on a business trip in China only to be told by i-invest that they didn't see your money, meanwhile you still have to spend 3 months in China before returning back to Nigeria cry

It wasnt a glitch or hitch. The money arrives but they failed to credit my account. They must have invested my money in the wrong account because I doubt they would not have money lying down fallow for 3 weeks without investing. They didn't return the money to sender or credit my account. What was the money doing lying there. What were they thinking. Even of am not investing, the money should be on my account and not an unknown destination. I keep calling them and they keep telling me that the money didn't arrive whereas the money did arrive. Cbn modus operandi is to block the account first and verify. That was when I think their eyes open up. They now saw my money, saw my number and also saw my account number to return the money. Actually, it might be a one off situation but I don't joke with my hard earned money. I pray you allow this slip by, don't expose them further

Seems to me that you think when you transfer money to a corporate account, the cash falls on someone's laps and they hold on to the money....the only thing the company can work with is if the money that is posted to their account is properly narrated with identifying information that allows them to tie the money to a specific client. If you bank sent the money without the right narrative there's no way they can know the money is meant for your particular account.

Dont forget that multiple clients send money to their account eveyday.

Look guy, I sympathize with what happened to your transaction but my point is that you're blaming the wrong party....if a problem happens to a transfer, the problem is either caused by the customer not giving clear instructions, the senders bank not transferring with clear instructions or something going wrong with the nibss interface that makes interbank transfer happens. The recipient is the one receiving and can only work on clear instructions

You said you had other tbills maturing with I-invest, why do you think they will want to spoil their relationship with a customer like you by refusing to credit your account?

So all of a sudden, they know the money was for his particular account and was with clear information when CBN got involved?

If I have unsolicited funds in my account am expected to report to the bank. If my instructions were not clear then they would have revert to sender account. What happens when you have my money and I come and ask yet you boldly send me to a wild goose chase in another territory making me accuse FBN of defrauding me when actually you have my funds. What would have happened if it were 10k that I can comfortably forgo. How long did they expect the money to hang with them before returning it. Inshort, why did they apologized and why didn't they allow the cbn altimatum to pass. Civic responsibility is expected of cooperate organisation most. Like I said, might be a one off situation in a growing enterprise but I work too hard for. My money. I don't gamble.

We are with you bro, in spite of all the endless challenges in Nigeria, Nigeria still remains one of the best places to invest and retire. But most Nigerians are poor and cannot see these opportunities in Nigeria, only the wealthy ones do benefit from these opportunities. I am in Germany at the moment, I cannot wait to retire back home and enjoy the rest of my life in Nigeria, with lots of investments. Nigerians in diaspora should make good use of the tax advantages in Nigeria, unlike USA or Europe, where life becomes complicated once you are wealthy, due to different kinds of taxes and bills. I rest my case for now. God bless you all.

I think enough has been said about I-Invest.

Walcom, Barrytone feels uncomfortable with how he was treated in his last dealing with them, he has the exclusive right to his appraisal of any service he receives. There's no point telling him whom to blame and whom not to.

Barrytone, Walcom thinks you shouldn't place a bad label on I-Invest as some folks like himself still enjoy their service. So please agree that he can choose to take pleasure in being served by any firm he chooses.

So, bottom line is there's enough info now on the forum about what's obtainable from banks and what's obtainable from Apps like I-Invest.

let each man choose for himself

Meanwhile Q2 is coming in just a few days.

How many of us have reached 25% of our investment target for the year?

By month end, I'll be at about 10%.
If I go with the second target it'll be about 13%.

I mean as investors, I expect that there'd be certain amounts we've set as target to be added to our investment portfolios this year.

So, since we're almost through with the first quarter, I'm thinking we should have achieved 25%.

someone who set 1m should have made 250k, while for someone targeting 100m, he should have made 25m.

I'm currently at 10-13%. But I expect earnings in the coming quarters to improve significantly, so I won't review downwards just yet.

I hope my English is better now sir.

God bless!

Thanks I get the picture now....thanks.

So, bottom line is there's enough info now on the forum about what's obtainable from banks and what's obtainable from Apps like I-Invest.

let each man choose for himself.

Ok...thanks

But in a way if come to think of it, if I invest were to be fake in this your case @Barrytone, with the CBN involvement don't you think they would have run away? In a way if the word CBN makes them adjust their level and did the right thing to me they fear CBN and are legit. A ponzi scheme promoter would not stand all those rigours
Barrytone:

Sir i understand ur points..It is because you have now seen it all for obodo oyinbo ,now you are able to compare. .An average nigerian may not understand what you are saying ..Like my brother in naija once told me An indian bizman said that
he could see money on the ground all over naija but her citizens are not seeing what he is seeing ..For those that have money / funds in naija there re opportunities to invest , grow and diversify
I do not discourage pple comin over here . I always encourage those that are tryin to make ends meet to come and try their luck ..But those that are doin well at home have to be cautious before they make up their minds to relocate ( esp with no papers) some even sell houses , leave good jobs and now come here and start regretting
I always respect to those guys that make it in naija , work their way up and invest wisely and always want to learn more from them even thou am an investor as well with yrs of experience but don't know it all
May God direct our steps..Amen

I never said its ponzi. Cbn sees them as a cooperate customer to a bank, just like me and you. Cbn will to block the account for verification and that would have spelled doom for an upcoming biz like theirs. My grievance is that my money was in their pockets for 3 weeks and they refused to even listen to me rather directing to somebody else. If I may ask, where is I invest office? Remember Sterling called them a customer. Customer Care process is as good as the biz.

I think a heavy investor doesn't need I invest(i dont want to mention figures again as someone here has already warned me to mention certain amounts with respect smiley ), those who are gambling with their hundred of thousands on I invest can continue but for me the security of my hard earned money is my top priority!!

Absolutely correct. No heavy player will invest via any channel aside direct investment through a commercial bank. Why would I invest over 20m through a faceless group/App?
Look at Barrytone's ugly experience! If he had travelled outside the country as someone mentioned, what would have been his fate by now?
When it comes to money matter, I remain analogue.
The stress of meeting my target is enough for me let alone to be chasing one App's management team upandan.

Ordinarily I wouldn't have said anything more because enough has already been said even before now. Also every investment has some amount of risk. However, the way this walcom guy is coming to bulldoze people and force them to line even when people have contrary opinion with proof reminds of the days of MMM. Let us reminded that when investing in TB with any bank there is a custodian that holds your money for safety. Your fund is expected to be held by another entity. Yes it may sometimes be a subsidiary of the bank but then it operates differently with CBN guidelines. That's why you pay custodian fee for every primary market TB and I believe in secondary market the original buyer would have already paid for it. If you invest through the App money is only guaranteed for the app owner and not you. All it takes is for the app to refuse to login one day and the one location office they have will be closed that morning and you money is gone. Ordinary Customer deposits in banks are insured and banks are monitored by CBN.. That I-invest is not under the scrutiny of anybody ooo. Severally sterling bank has told those who care to listen that there are just customers/partners with I-invest and not the real owner. I am sure those banking with sterling bank will have the real sterling app if they have one.

It seems there is going to be primary auction this week, how true is that? Someone should confirm that please. Two separate banks said Yes and No, I don't know which to believe.
