Ifeanyi Ubah, senator who won the election Anambra south election on the platform of the Young Peoples Party (YPP) has dumped the party for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

This is coming four days after he denied plans to dump the party.

Adams Oshiomhole, national chairman of the APC, announced Ubah’s membership of the ruling party at a meeting President Muhammadu Buhari had with APC senators-elect in Aso Rock on Monday night.

At a press conference on Friday, Ubah had said: “I am not yet ready to defect from the YPP. I am still in the YPP. In party business, you can’t determine what would happen next. Sometimes you wake up and you will start seeing one problem or the other. For me today, I am in the YPP and I hope to remain in the party.

“The YPP is bringing a revolution of change to Nigeria. I must join a progressive group in the Senate since I cannot be alone. The YPP is the party to beat in this country. I won my election without the party having an office in any part of Anambra State.”

Governors present at the meeting were Akinwunmi Ambode (Lagos), Nasir el-Rufai (Kaduna), Yahaya Bello (Kogi), Simon Lalong (Plateau), Atiku Bagudu (Kebbi) and Abdulaziz Yari (Zamfara).

Others were Badaru Abubakar (Jigawa), Ibrahim Gaidam (Yobe), Kashim Shettina (Borno), and Gboyega Oyetala (Osun).

This happens when your party becomes more of liability than a rock stand. Being in a minority party may have put him under a lot of strain and pressure. He could have spent his life's earnings trying to build a political structure for the continued existence of the party especially when the founder of the party is a loser. He has proved to be a good businessman and a proactive politician. Failed to get the ticket from a popular party, joins a weak party, throws money around and wins the seat then joins the incumbent popular party to eye a good position.

By the way, see below reaction of Igbos to the news that Senator Ifeanyi Ubah of Anambra has decamped from YPP to APC.

Note that he did not decamp from APGA or PDP ooo, yet the notorious politics of bitterness that the Igbos have mastered was in full display.

Yet they are demanding positions from the demonic party.

Our politicians have no shame. How can one be sponsored by a political party(with a completely different manifesto)and dump them for another, while still retaining the glory achieved with that party's name

The electrocrate are being conned. They voted for the man and the party, and this man may likely have lost if he contested on his new platform and their manifesto. There should be a law banning this. Everywhere else If you wish to defect, they first resign and contest a bye election on their new party's platform. Here one can simply wake up and cross carpet without a penalty. Methinks this is wrong

You people stay in your place and analyze another man's problem. How is his political career finished. You are comparing a man who has a strong base in his Nnewi town with some like Ngige. Do you know how many people that work for this man? Do you how many families that feed from his company in Anambra State? Ngige and Ifeanyi are two different people. Ifeanyi has something that works for him which Ngige does not have. While Ifeanyi has alot of Investments and businesses in Anambra State that sustain various families beginning from his Nnewi town, Ngige in all honesty does not and that is why the two are not the same.
