He said then that time will tell whether or not he made a mistake. Time is definitely proving him right now.

Pls 10 yrs investment plan. Which is better TB or FGN Bond? Is FGN bond interest paid yearly too so you can re invest with it like TB or all paid once after 10 years.

The SUKUK bond is not monthly. It's once a year. As soon as the content of the 2019 budget is unwrapped layer by layer, we will get an early signal. However, the yearly SUKUK sale may not happen in the months of March, June, September and December this year because of coupons cycle. Look out for months outside of these or watch this space for early information. This is for the lockdown guys. I must tell you that it's extremely easy to sell it on the exchange but difficult to buy as most holders are adamant to sell including me.

Realityshot, I forgot to mention.

I want Emefiele to get a second term. I'd like for him to yet be there while we have the transition from an importer to an exporter of refined petroleum products.

Some folks had oil above $100 a barrel, there wasn't much they saved from it. instead we heard reports that as much as $20bn wasn't remitted by the NNPC.

these guys have done quite well with a $70 price regime. so i'd like to see what he'll do with the exchange rate, when fuel imports are no longer in the picture.

It's very likely he gets another term as I am trying to influence things in that direction.
that is true shaaa ... BUT...

THIS IS 4+4! NO 4+4+4

DMO on behalf of CBN has approved 2 financial advisors for the SUKUK road project. Lotus capital and FBN Merchant. You can also buy through one of the 7 placement banks among which is FBN, stanbic, zenith, unity, Jaiz, GTB and Sterling. I used Lotus capital because the banks will still have to send your forms to the financial advisors anyways. So better to deal direct.

I think average yield for this year may not exceed 14%.

We opened this month with $42.3bn in reserves. We're likely to end at $44.3bn or higher, so we can afford to be proud.

Oil prices are also behaving as you've mentioned.

Bonds and mutual funds are available alternatives for the risk averse. Some of us who are more aggressive love equities.

It's important that people take the advice here whenever it's stated that we lock up for long tenors.

I however acknowledge the fact that some of us who locked up earlier have new funds now that need to be placed.

Markets are in cycles

It's ok to buy from the secondary market through your stockbrokers and if u decide to hold to maturity then you enjoy your coupon at the initial published rate through out the term. However, because yields are generally low now, you may be buying the bond at a much higher price. If you are going to buy a bond at the secondary market, your focus should be on the yield and not the interest rate so as be guided properly

Am sure bonds can be sold when I need my cash back but I don't know how easy that can be. But at this stage of my business life I can't lockdown huge funds for 10 yrs or even 5yrs. Esp at these low rates. I prefer to take my chances with TB, it gives me more control and easy access.

TB rates go up and come down , we are at a low right now but I am very sure the 364days tenure won't go below 10% before it begins to rise again. The sudden crash in rates for me isn't realistic, it isn't driven by sound policies or a growing economy, just some cow boys manipulating the system.

Until I see strong economic policies drive TB rates down , I stand with TB.

If u calculate the average rate on TB for the past 5yrs it equates to whatever the bonds offer.

For anyone converting foreign currency to naira to invest in Treasury bills, how are you mitigating the risk of possible devaluation of the naira by the time your treasury bill investment matures?
