Danielnino00: Fact. No this is nairaland so gbam! I have mentioned it here countless times about local coaches and strange player selections. After the ridiculous world cup and confederations cup selections (remember Gambo ) Keshi gave Gabriel Okechukwu number 10 shirt in one of our AFCON qualifiers. Also remember Salami our every present top striker? Haha What about siasia starting Umar and Amuzie against Egypt in Kaduna. Foreign coaches don't work like that. 2 Likes |

wayodude: Tell them bro..tell them!! If Rohr is going to be sacked,I'll prefer his replacement to be a foreign coach.. local coaches in Nigeria hardly operate without being biased toward player selection... |

gamaliel9:have you considered that Rohr's good working condition may also be because he is unproblematic? Siasia, Keshi and co, were always ready to fight NFF and drag them in the press at any disagreeement, Siasia barely took over as caretaker manager and he was already talking about salary that will be equal to any foreigner's pay. Do you know how long NFF took to pay Rohr his salary at some points? Did he make a big fuss? A few years ago, we discussed this thing and a lot of people said it was because he had his own means of making money. As at this time, Rohr was traveling around and scouting players with his own money, did he shout? Lots of times, Rohr disagrees with NFF, even about the stadiums and the pitch, but e no dey shout. Have you considered this is why it looks like he isn't having issues with them? I don't know what you are complaining about honestly. Which one is, "football is about winning"....has he not been winning? Does he not have a greater percentage of wins than losses? You have no basis to complain about Rohr for now if winning is your grouse, because he hasn't had any valid tournament to begin with. Keshi had three tournaments that were more or less back to back, Rohr just came to do the impossible and help y'all qualify from the toughest World Cup group. Did he fail? Short term memory is a bad thing. Save this your talk for after AFCON, for now, this trophy talk is baseless. 11 Likes 1 Share |

this is what always confuses me about all nigerian coaches this penchant for choosing players with no logical criteria for choosing them. keshi: gabriel rueben, agbim, the then unknown guy who wore the number 10 shirt, uchebo Siasia: umar, okoronkwo, ajilore etc Oliseh: bringing players that his brother churchill manages like igbuon into the national team Onigbinde taking an obviously past it adepoju to korea/japan 2002 too many ? marks with nigerian coaches and team selection Icon4s: 1 Like |

wayodude: I remember how Nedum Onuoha turned down a chance to star for Nigeria at the 2010 WC, thinking the oyinbos have plans for him. When his eyes finally cleared, the same Nedum Onuoha later declared for Nigeria and virtually begged to be called up to the SE. But by then it was already too late. These present foreign borns should learn from history |

wayodude: I respect that man Keshi. An incurable optimist who qualified a lowly Togo for their first ever WC, a feat only God knows when and if they will ever repeat. This man took a Nigerian team we had all written off to win the AFCON with less than 2 years on the job. Even at the WC in spite of the drama we put up regarding allowances etc, the team stood up to France and eventual finalists Argentina at their prime and feared no foe. Yes he had his fallibles but history will remember his succeses as a coach. Not grade A matches but who remembers the miracle with the CHAN eagles, 4 goals down but went ahead to win the game. Felix Uduokhai has refused to rule out committing his international future to Nigeria in the near future but is focused on this summer's European U21 Championship in Italy and San Marino. There had been talk that the Wolfsburg defender was in contention to be included in the Super Eagles squad for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations but Nigeria manager Gernot Rohr later changed his mind after admitting that brand new players will not be considered in the group. Uduokhai continues to flirt with the Nigeria National Team unlike 1899 Hoffenheim's Kevin Akpoguma and Hertha Berlin's Jordan Torunarigha, and this time he has suggested that he still has time on his hands to make a decision on his international future. ''I have heard nothing (from Rohr). My focus is on the European Championships in the summer, I want to be there,'' said Uduokhai to sportbuzzer.de. ''I still have time for everything else." The 21-year-old Uduokhai popped up with the match-winning goal in stoppage time as Germany U21s beat England 2-1 in a friendly on Tuesday. The Annaberg-Buchholz native has ten caps in total for Germany's U19, U20 and U21 teams. 1 Like |

wayodude: Thanks for the respect, he's a legend. Maybe if he were still alive, who knows what else he would have achieved? But talking about his only WC where we exceeded expectations I recall only three players really deserving of going to the WC who were dropped at that time, Ideye, Sone and Gari master Uche. Kalu uche was doing solidarity with his brother, we didn't have that many guys playing top flight football. His major failing was not qualifying for the next AFCON, but he had issues with the NFF and that NFF was one known for owing players money, terrible atmosphere to work. |

At the 2013 AFCON when Yobo, Uche and that Nosa midfielder played nonsense, they were sent straight to the bench. Thereafter Onazi, Omeruo and MBA became stars at the tournament. Efe Ambrose had his most productive time in the Eagles same with Emenike and even Mikel to some extent. Twale for stevo!!!! 1 Like |

safarigirl: World cup not a valid tournament? In fact.. it was at that world cup that Rohr showed his tactlessness...the whole world saw that Idowu and Etebor were tired and due to be changed... but not Rohr..Argentina saw it and brought in Pavon who crossed for the winning goal...he qualified us from a difficult group..he did well...but he did not win the world cup...as i said he has been average..even Nigerian coaches have qualified us for the world cup... On relationship with NFF..akiko...the black man tend to put down his fellow black....look at the difference in salary of coaches in NFF...Keshi s family was living in US....but he was paid in naira...not even equivalent in naira of what white coaches are paid..so why should he not talk about prompt payment? Do you support NFF to be breaching contracts? What is good for the goose is equally good for gander...If Rohr is not complaining, that is how he wants it....He did not complain yet he did not win the world cup...so we re-employ based on the fact that he did not complain..If Siasia or Keshi had been given the same atmosphere as Rohr...BOTH ARE TACTICALLY BETTER THAN HIM...May be,may be..they would have performed better..He has qualified us for AFCON...good...but he was not employed for that only..He has to win it...that s how we will be in the news... 1 Like |

Taliban: We had several players who weren't called up BUT should have gone in place of Ameobi, Uchebo, Reuben Gabriel, Kunle Odunlami etc The gamble paid off in AFCON but less so in the CONFED CUP and WORLD CUP and totally backfired in the AFCON qualifiers when the likes of Salami were trusted with leading the line and a certain Sunday Emmanuel was on the bench to be called upon if we needed more fire power! Now that is laughable. I'm sure Sudan couldn't believe their luck. |

wayodude: You have your points no doubt. Can you remind me of those several players dropped? And it was Congo that qualified instead of us not Sudan. By the way even with those crappy players and a player strike he made it to the 2nd round of the WC. And note we didnt cower before any team even with the carpenters and mechos we took. The person who took better players, no player strike, no injuries to a key midfield player what did they achieve? 1 Like |
