Messi on Ronaldo

Today, Neymar, Mbappe, Suarez, Aguero Today, they can be the best in the world. Cristiano, I take him out an put him with me, a part. I swear to you, I am being honest.

I miss Cristiano in Spain. It was nice to have him although it was difficult to see him left titles. It would have been nice to still have him here.

Leo is the most honest player ever

Because he could get a better move if he performed well or even decently.
They'd always be Chinese clubs interested in him. He could even get an epl move if he played decently enough.
Oh and do you think KPB has done well since he arrived??

Going to Barcelona would have been a national team career finisher. If he doesn't play before AFCON he wouldn't get selected. If he misses AFCON his career for the super eagles is over. Why go submit yourself to the bench?

It's not always about size, do you know that Obagoal had a very high jump rate. Overcoming much taller defenders add to that all the other attributes he brings.

That's a very weak rational basis for his exclusion.

When you then looked at the no hoppers he selected in his place. It is simply incomprehensible and leaves him open to many unsavoury questions.

Not really. It falls down to tactics. Martins Obafemi did not suit Keshi's tactics. Not a rational for dropping. We might be intrigued by the players ability but if it does not suit the player, it means it can not work. The player will end up looking poor.

Honestly I don't think Emenike was that good as a lone striker. He was better playing alongside a target man or coming from wide positions like he did back at Fenerbache.

Keshi hardly played with a lone striker when the game was on. To the best of my knowledge, no matter how he set up his team, you have two powerful men who would fight for the aerial balls. A lot of times, they drift wide to receive the ball and then build up plays.

So you get combinations like Emenike - Ideye or Ameobi - Bright Dike.

I was referring to the away game against Sudan which was a must win and we ended up losing. Keshi called on Sunday Emmanuel from the bench to try to rescue the game grin

I think the 2014 team was very poor due to terrible selections. Joel Obi should have been in the team for Rueben Gabriel, Brown Ideye for Shola Ameobi, Sone Aluko for Uchebo, and personally I would have also expected Ike Uche have been there in place of young Nwofor. Shola had no business in the team even if we were naming 10 strikers!

Look at our bench against France again and you will realise just how bad the selections were. After Onazi went off injured we were left with no choice but to play the unfit Gabriel Ruben and promptly got destroyed by PogBA, Cabaye and Matuidi.

I expected the 2014 team in spite of all this to beat Iran, draw Bosnia and lose to Argentina. With this we had a chance of making the next round in which I expected us to lose with respect and head back home....and that was how it happened.

In 2018 I expected us to draw Croatia, beat Iceland and lose to Argentina. With a bit of luck make it to the next round and improve our game and with a good draw get to the quarters and then lose.

That didn't happen because Croatia were the revelation of the tournament and deservedly beat us and that was already game set match.

The fact about the that French game was that we actually did not have much players thriving in Europe that were a perfect fit to the system. I once pointed out that later in the game, Ruben Gabriel put a good shift and did his job. Made some tackles and broke up play. The damage happened because he was match rusty. Later he blended into the team.

The problem a lot of people had with Keshi is they judged him based on their understanding of the game. Not an understanding of how Keshi played and achieved results.

That was why he received barrage of criticism when he selected his AFCON and CHAN squad but when they played, they delivered when it mattered.

I was not a fan of Keshi's tactics. It did not suit my feel for the game but I took time to respect his choices and understood why he made the decisions.

Back to the French game, Ramon Azeez was even the preferred choice to come in but he was not allowed into the pitch because of the violent nature of the French players. Keep in mind, Mikel, Onazi and Ambrose were targets for harsh plays and Ramon Azeez was not capable of dealing with that pressure, especially with the Referee not offering much help.

We did not play well and drew to Iran. We got lucky against Bosnia.

Then Dzeko's disallowed goal would have been allowed so that means we would have still qualified. What rubbish are you then talking

I am throwing the challenge back to you with respect to Mikel.

If he was that good, he would be playing in a premiership team and npt in the English Championship

Actually not exactly.

Depending on remuneration and opportunity as well as style of play players do choose the Championship over the EPL. Add to that he has been in China and he will have to prove himself that he still up to speed and able to hack it in the EPL, for some doubtful managers but not all.

Mikel is quality and could easily walk into a few clubs but there is the Finances to consider too, are they willing to play.

Let me make the Ameobi part simple for you. Ameobi was a monster against France in that 2-2 friendly game, he went to the world cup because of that showing.

Now how many players went to the WC just because of good performances against Argentina in that friendly But Rohr is not biased and Keshi is? Double standards Mate, double standards

The game you mention was against Italy. I was there in craven cottage on the night. Bright Dike was just as good as Shola and and younger than him and had the passion and desire to play for Nigeria which Shola never did.

Having said all that in the season leading to the world cup Mike Eneramo, Brown Ideye, Anthony Ujah, imoh Ezekiel, Kalu Uche, Osariemhen Ebagua I can name more all had better seasons than Shola and should have been tested in the games against Greece, Scotland and Italy in the run up to the world cup.

Shola was not there on merit. I said it!

The question is, were the players a good fit to Keshi's system? It is not just because a player is shining somewhere, he would walk in and perform.

Keep in mind, in that Italian match, Shola was a perfect fit like a well matched glove. At the end, the selection was deeper than just watch and play. Like typical Keshi, when you criticise the selection, you see the players rising to prove doubters wrong.

Two good cases, Aaron Samuel and Michael Babatunde.

I went to check the player stats for the English championship and Mikel is not even in top ten for assists. Tackles nko;for where

Goals nko? Mikel isn't even in top 30. Yet these same guys hype him to high heavens. A creative midfielder with no goal or assist in 9 appearances for middlesborough.

Mikel is playing as a defensive midfielder, so expecting goals and assists is far fetched. When Mikel even played as a creative midfielder in Netherlands 2005, he was among the best players, if not the best (I think Messi knicked it with the two penalties in the final.) Quality wise, Mikel was outstanding, yet with no goal in open play.

Mikel's quality is beyond goals and assists. Upon his arrival in the Championship, he was selected as part of the team of the week. That shows his quality.

Read the assessment of former assistant manager of Manchester United's impression of Mikel at Middlesbrough.

Forrmer Newcastle manager and Queens Park Rangers manager, Steve McClaren, gave his Mikel assessment after the Nigerian’s starring role in Boro’s 2-0 win over QPR last weekend.

“I think Mikel has been an excellent signing,” McClaren told Teesside Live.

“You always have that one player who gives you stability, control, never gives the ball away. They’ve got one of the best, a Champions League winner. He dominates in there, he takes care of the ball.

Every team needs a Mikel. He’s certainly the kind of enforcer in there, defensively and he keeps the ball ticking.

“I’ve been impressed with him. He’s given another edge to Middlesbrough,” McClaren concluded.

We don't need a defensive enforcer bro. I think we have too much of that.

We are taking about someone who can create chances. Chances that are goal bound

Sometimes you pay attention to the masters. Steve McClaren has been coaching since 1999. Worked with the likes of Scholes, Beckham, Giggs and Roy Keane.

His remark should be taking as a serious advice to our team.

Every team needs a Mikel, including the Super Eagles. Note. It is not just about enforcing but controlling the game.

Leicester City coach Rodgers defends Iheanacho after stinging Rohr criticism

Brendan Rodgers has jumped to the defence of Kelechi Iheanacho after the Leicester City forward was criticised by Nigeria coach Gernot Rohr during the international break.

“When I saw him at Manchester City, he was always a young player that could come in and affect the game,” Rodgers said ahead of Bournemouth fixture. “Then he’s come here with a big price-tag.

“From what I’ve seen in training and when I’ve spoken to him, he has shown a wonderful appetite and enthusiasm to get better.

“We have a culture where we want to improve players and make them better and he’s responded very well to that.”

Only afforded seven minutes since Rodgers took over and with a Premier League goal this season, Jamie Vardy's reputation and form mean Iheanacho, for all his training ground showings, will have to be patient for his chance - and has to pounce when they arrive.

“It’s difficult for him because he’s up against one of the best strikers in this league, in Jamie Vardy, so that’s always going to be difficult unless the system changes,” Rodgers continued.

“But he’s a great boy to work with and he’ll want to play more I’m sure.

“At this minute, it’s creating the confidence because he’s scoring goals in training and working very hard and adapting to how we want to play.

“And I’m sure when the time comes, if he gets a chance to play consistently, he will take that chance.”

Lol. Why should I pull him down?

I am just trying to be factual here.

He is not even the best midfielder in his team. He has paid his dues. He has tried. He won a champions league with Chelsea and an AFCON with NIgeria.

His stay in China didn't help matters. His presence in our squad in the WC 2018 didn't prevent teams from walloping us.

That's why I say we should try to look elsewhere. We don't need to be shouting his name once we loose or we don't create enough chances because the truth is his presence would not make much of a difference just like happened in the WC 2018
