davodyguy:Thanks bro that was in South Island.. but I heard another bomb has just been discovered in Britomat which is the main Auckland train station to the CBD. |

femijck: Now Im worried and scared. If I come over, I would like to board a train |

davodyguy:Nah everything is under control... this is the first of its kind and I’m telling u NZ will get to the root quickly. The suspect 28 yrs old Aussie man will appear in court tomorrow morning. I really feel for the country that embraces diversity, multi culturalism and where racism is next to zero. Most of the victims are definitely refugees from Islamic country. The response is been extremely great.... NZ is the best country in the world. 1 Like |

femijck:But what was his motive to plant a bomb or IED in a train station? If he intends to attack Muslims alone as a racist, is the train station only for Muslims? Something not right |
Re: 8 Things You Need To Know About New Zealand by femijck(m): 9:56am On Mar 15, 2019 |
davodyguy:NZ is treating this as a terrorist attack already. It’s been confirmed it wasn’t bomb. Although the station is locked down https://i.stuff.co.nz/auckland/111324715/central-auckland-street-blocked-after-suspicious-bag-found |

Re: 8 Things You Need To Know About New Zealand by femijck(m): 10:27pm On Mar 17, 2019 |
suxes2005:No not because he’s white.... This is the first of its kind in the history of NZ, I’m guessing NZ doesn’t even have any constitutional law regarding incidents like this...justice have to be served according to the existing law and not emotions. NZ justice law is probably one of the weakest... because of the peaceful nature of this country many laws haven’t been reviewed in decades. For instance if u own a shop or business, you see a shoplifter taking stuff and getting away with it, u can not touch them. You can only call the police.... if u attack them, u will be charge with assault why the offender might never be found or in worst case charge with attempted robbery. That’s how crazy the law is. Even self defence can land u in jail if not proven to be genuine and that your life was genuinely threatened. 1 Like |

femijck: Comrade Femi, I more than agree with those who have identified you as one of the best on Nairaland. You have really done great on this thread. I admire your humility and the zeal to help fellow countrymen without shades. My bros, I just got an unconditional offer to study Graduate Diploma at Manukau Institute of Technology, Otara NZ. It has not been easy for me to take the final decision to proceed with visa application because of fear of uncertainty in a new country. I am in my late 30s and in a full time employment in Naija earning above 200k. But in life, we always strive for the best. From your experience living and working in New Zealand, how can you assess my chances of succeeding through the student Visa route especially considering my age. I plan to switch career to a skill in demand especially in tourism and hospitality. Are there chances that I will get full time employment in an area in demand with a New Zealand qualification at my age. Or do graduates end up doing menial jobs just like in UK and most European countries. What are my chances of getting a PR looking at statistics from other African students. Thanks for your input in advance. Remain blessed 2 Likes |

ezinwaJesu: It’s normal for anyone to feel what you’re feeling right now especially since there’s so much to loose if it doesn’t work out. After your study, u will definitely get a post study visa. This is the link for for what you will qualify for. https://www.immigration.govt.nz/new-zealand-visas/apply-for-a-visa/tools-and-information/work-and-employment/how-long-you-can-work-on-a-post-study-work-visa Do you have a family? If u do, are they coming with u? this is very important. About your age, NZ doesn’t descriminate about age or gender as it’s unlawful to do that here. I don’t think getting a job will be an issue if your course of study is in high demand. I will encourage you to do more research about your course of study since u don’t wanna work outside that. In NZ, I can guarantee u will get a job in no time if you have the attitude and willingness...... I don’t know what kind of menial job is done in the UK, but u can easily get a job in production & manufacturing , retail, construction, warehousing and agriculture depending on where you live. Tourism is a booming part of NZ economy, and you should check what the pay rate is and also the employment opportunities as these will be crucial in qualifying for a further visa or residence if u choose the job route. If you fall in the low skill after your study, u will have to leave NZ for a year of stand down when u exhaust ur post study visa. But I think you can also get an employer assisted visa if u work for an accredited employer even when ur post study runs out if I’m right. 2 Likes |

femijck:Thanks for the insight and the information you are providing here. I'm applying to University of Auckland for PhD and may be considered for tuition and stipend scholarship. I would be coming with family (husband and 3kids, 2 are of school age). Can my husband work based on my student visa? How easy would it be for my husband to get a job? He is a systems analyst. How are there primary schools? Do we have to pay fees for the kids? |

femijck: Thanks for the clarification jare. I am single and have nobody coming with me. As for course of study, my options are very flexible, as long as the career is in demand and exciting. Life is an adventure, hence I will have nothing to lose if I do the right thing and leave the rest to God. We must take risks in life to exploit our full potentials. I will go ahead. Best regards. |

ayandee: Your husband as a dependent will qualify for a open work visa which means he can work for any employer anywhere in NZ. There’s no restrictions on the hours he can work. He will get a job if his qualifications meet the required standard. If not, he can always start from somewhere. Your kids can go to school for free. But sometimes they ask for donations which is voluntary. Hopefully this answers ur questions 1 Like |

ezinwaJesu: Make the move, you won’t regret it but don’t expect a smooth ride. Since you’re single, I believe u can navigate every avenue possible. Stay subject to ur visa and entry conditions n respect the law. NZ is a beautiful place. Best of luck 1 Like |

This is not surprising as most of those coming from the Muslim dominated countries are coming to support their families who were affected in the last terrorist attack in CHC. Immigration has prioritised their application. But mind you most them are general visitor visa. Which means they can only stay for few months. davodyguy: |

Re: 8 Things You Need To Know About New Zealand by ezinwaJesu(m): 2:39pm On Mar 31, 2019 |
shakol91: From my little research bro, IELTS is a condition you must meet for even Students Visa application. There is no government approved tertiary institution is New Zealand that will offer you a place to Study Masters without minimum IELTS score of 6.5 overall with no band less than 6.0. That is a government standard for post-graduate and Msc. You can do graduate diploma Level 7 programs with 6.0 with no band less than 5.5. Any institution that will offer you a place without IELTS may have to be followed with caution. Unfortunately, INZ will not grant you a VISA. Same applies to Australia. Femi I stand to be corrected |
