during Jonathan era when Yoruba didn't have any strong political power....did disturb the peace of people online as this? but now it's your turn you are crying

another reason is that you can't expect people who gave 300k of their vote to get favour than region who gave 5m,2m of their vote

and how did igbo caused the downfall of awolowo and abiola
our own awolowo gave us many projects like NTA Ibadan(first in Africa), cocoa house(first skyscraper in Nigeria),liberty Stadium(first in Nigeria) and so on but your hero(ojukwu) gave you war...stop talking about Yoruba leaders and pay attention to your leader

Even if I don't support Tinubu, blaming everyone else for your failure is a sign of inferiority complex and victim mentality.

If having elective posts matter to you guys, then do more with the ruling party land enjoy the benefits while GEJ was there even though you acted like you deserved all those things then.

Few weeks ago, many of your people wanted no part in the elections, you wanted 'referendum', and thousands more didn't vote.

Nobody is blaming anybody. The writer just gave a piece of advice.

On the other hand, not voting a party does not justify marginalisation of any part of the country. After election, the winner is expected to govern over all the country equally, recognising the federal character in its appointments, which is enshrined in the constitution.

Where was this writer when GEJ was marginalizing Yorubas in his government? GEJ went around the country bleating like a goat saying yeeboos were the corner stone of his (corrupt) government. Even though Yorubas fought tirelessly to make sure that he was not cheated of his mandate by the North. And yeeboos were everywhere on social media mocking Yorubas and telling them to stop complaining. Now, the shoe is on the other foot and yeeboos are now wailing on every social media. Even though APC was staunchly rejected everywhere in the South East. Yeeboos want to reap where they have not sown. They have no legs to stand on.

Federal character is limited to appointments in Cabinet positions. We are talking here of Leadership in NASS, and Federal Character does not apply. The majority party has the prerogative, as the entity elected for representation, to dictate how its mandate is effected for the benefit of Government.

Here is 2019 Presidential result. SE blocked APC out completely, not a single win out of five states. The only region that was 100% tribal in its voting pattern. Other regions had APC/PDP wins in mix. SE had 5 out of 5 for PDP and zero for APC! Why are you looking for rewards from APC?

“Igbos Don't Matter”: Tinubu Treading On Same Path That Destroyed Awolowo, Abiola

By Emeh James Anyalekwa

“Men make their own history, but they do not make it as they please; they do not make it under self-selected circumstances, but under circumstances existing already, given and transmitted from the past.” — Marx

While we are still at loss as to why the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) chose to zone the position of the Senate President of the incoming ninth Assembly to the North, we are even more surprised with their recent outburst and hate towards the South-East region. One may wonder if this is how the ruling party plans to “unite the country” (as promised) by playing sectional politics of hate towards a particular region.

I can remember in 2015 when Mr Femi Adesina declared that the reason why the party did not zone the Senate President to the South-East is because there was no APC Senator-elect from the region. Fast forward to 2019, the APC has produced ranking Senators from the region with former Governor Orji Uzor Kalu dominating the list. Yes, Dr. Kalu is a ranking Senator having served in the Federal House of Representatives - both chambers are known as NASS and recognized in ranking legislators.

Now, the same APC is giving another “reason” that the South-East did not vote Buhari. Like seriously? In Abia North for instance, the president won the entire five local governments, while the ruling party also won 2 out of the 3 Reps seat and the Senate seat from the district. Generally, Buhari garnered over 80,000 votes as against the 15,000 votes in 2015.

If really the APC leadership know fully well that the election of National Assembly leaders are done via secret ballot system, then one may wonder why they continue to remain unguarded and reckless with their utterances, while imposing unpopular candidates on supposed distinguished legislators.

Inasmuch as I believe in party supremacy, I strongly believe that at the Senate level and National Assembly generally, persuasion and not coercion should come to play in actualizing the party's objectives.

As it stands now, a lot is at stake in the struggle for the various National Assembly positions. 2023 is fast approaching and president Buhari is constitutionally not qualified to run, hence, several political forces are warming up to take over either directly or indirectly through their trusted loyalists; and who controls the National Assembly is key in positioning the various camps ahead of 2023.

Within the APC, there are several powerful camps interested in 2023 and none would allow the National Assembly to fall easily into the hands of the other. If ex-President Obasanjo could not coerce the NASS to do his bidding ahead of 2007, Bola Tinubu and Oshiomhole will be wallowing in self deception to think they can sit in their living rooms and impose leaders on the National Assembly.

It's on record that Bola Tinubu single-handedly appointed Buhari's Vice, Yemi Osinbajo and the party's National Chairman, Adams Oshiomhole in the helm of affairs. To think that Buhari will sit and watch a domineering and overtly ambitious Tinubu to also single-handedly appoint the Senate President in the person of his known-loyalist, Ahmed Lawan and Speaker, Femi Gbajiabiamila, will portray the president as the most daft head of state in the whole world.

What happens (to Buhari) in the event of a strong disagreement with Tinubu? Your guess is as good as mine. Before it's too late, APC leadership should retrace their steps and apply caution.

All regions and stakeholders should be carried along in the party's zoning arrangement. Man by its nature abhores injustice. An arrangement that favours one region ahead of others should be jettissoned.

Nigeria is built on a tripod — Igbo, Hausa-Fulani and Yoruba are the major ethnic groups. Any arrangement that relegates any of the three to the background will be vehemently resisted.

The Hausa/Fulani have the number one position, Yoruba have number two, by all fair standard, Igbo or any of the minorities should have number three. However, since one of the minority ethnic groups have the party’s Chairman, Igbo should be given the number three position.

In the light of this reality, from the foregoing, the body language of the APC that the South-East doesn’t count should stop now. Tinubu said “Igbos don’t matter” after all, just like his wife posited that “Igbos can’t be trusted anymore”. Tinubu must be reminded that this path he has chosen to tread presently led to the downfall of two great men in the history of Nigeria politics — Awolowo and Abiola.

If Tinubu and APC leaders, however, decide to ignore this piece of advice, they should be ready for another shocker on the second week of June when the 9th Assembly is expected to be inaugurated.

Emeh James Anyalekwa, National President, Online Media Practitioners Association of Nigeria (OMPAN), writes from Uyo

These stupid Igbo people make me laugh, they play useless politics every time and when it backfires and they lose out they will blame others for their problems.
Politics is about loyalty, you can't expect to reap what you did not sow,you all supported PDP and called Buhari names like Jubril from Sudan and lifeless but now you want to be Senate President, what a bunch of idiots you are.
In 2023 you will make the same mistake, you have been making the same mistake since 1960. FOOLS.

The North, West and South South are the only Political relevant Regions in this Country.

What has Tinubu got to do with APC legislative leadership. Is Tinubu the one appointing the leadership? Why single him out in his write up?

And igbo had nothing to do with abiola or awolowo. Awolowo lost an election because shagari picked an igbo vice. And abiola won his own election. Igbo had nothing to do with them.

Igbo's we should always try to tell ourselves the truth from an unbiased point of view. What's happening right now is our fault. We caused it by ourselves. For no reason absolutely no reason our people choose to hate Buhari and APC and Rocha's. Despite all warnings. Now the repercussions have come and you are looking for who to blame.

What we did to Buhari we now want to do it to Tinubu, do you make somebody your friend by insulting the person or by building bridges.
We have finished causing problem with Buhari now its Tinubu we want to face. I wonder who are the people advising our leader's

How can you hate someone with passion, openly cursing and insulting him , accusing him of being the cause of your problems and still demanding that he should provide solutions to your problems?

Tinubu is NOT the cause of the problems of the Igbos and he is not the solution.

If is a tribe with those who has wisdom and societal interests at heart, there would have Biafra nation today . Biafra would have been solid country by now.
