Okay, Nigeria is supposedly the country with the largest GDP in Africa, right? Is Nigeria better than South Africa? If you answer my question I will gladly answer your stvpid question grin grin every time you open your mouth, it’s a freaking fvcking disaster grin

You'll be surprised at the number of skeletons Kenya has in its closet.Just watched a documentary on mombasa today. grin grin grin
I was just laughing throughout!
see wor wor dirty buildings! but they'll only show us pictures from afar! Every body was just skinny, dust and filth everywhere, you need to see up close pics of mombasa. Not those far away skyline shots.
Next time they shouldn't dare to compare mombasa with Lagos.Even onitsha is better than that trashcan of a city.

Awulunganga xhosaNostra your point is countintuitive actually. Tis more expensive to light a house for a poor man coz paraffin is relatively expensive compared to electricity. The savings from expensive paraffin can be redirected to improve the house ,children get to study under better lighting (this beats poverty in the long run too) and indoor air pollution of these smokey lamps is eliminated thus saving further on health and related costs. Do a research on indoor air pollution and see how badly the 3rd world folks live with the consequences.

You're being a bit idealistic & not being realistic in the statement above. I know abantu abamnyama well, especially old ladies, they usually stick to what they know, so the chances of the above happening, are zero. For an example, where I grew up, we got our connection in '95 or thereabouts, but people are still using paraffin & see it as a "cheaper" alternative to electricity. We have very cold winters here & most people combat them with paraffin heaters instead of electric ones for one excuse or another. At my childhood home, cooking certain things on the electric stove was a definite no-no (apparently the taste changes or whatever, according to my mom's imagination)& as a result, we still alternate between a paraffin stove & an electric one. My point is, nothing will change as most people will stick to doing things the same way they've always done them, with the exception of lighting of course...everybody hates paraffin lamps.

The lazy children of those magogos should rather do the needful tongue

i didn't plagiarized anybody there, what i did was editing and rewriting which is acceptable. We may have conclude on the same thing per the name used. But not on the same approach or information therein and beside that is not mynd4.4 post. So stop accusing me wrongly. :'

Subsidiary are diffrent from parent company because decision are taken independently per what is obtainable in country registerd . Whether it remit revenue back home does not factor in now. But where and how she operate. That is why UBA Kenya is not bind by the law obtainable in UBA Nigeria.

Kenya doesn't have winters
But Kenyans living in huts use this small paraffin lamps with alot of smoke
Electricity is much cheap than paraffin and healthy

I was just making an example that people still have a purpose for things that use paraffin.
You cannot bake a perfect pot bread on an electric stove for instance, but you can with a paraffin stone because you have maximum control on how high or low it burns, which is why many households still have a paraffin stove stashed away somewhere.
As for lamps, well, those are really horrible, I know. The point I'm trying to make is, the more things change, the more they remain the same.

I can't speak for everyone of course. About a week ago I tried making pot bread because I was missing home. It didn't turn out so well because of the heat on the stove. It was either too high or too low, then I remembered that I had some (bread) at my cousin's house in December, so I gave her a call to find out at what heat level she baked it on. It turned out she has a paraffin stove that she uses specifically for the purpose of cooking samp & baking bread, for the sake of authenticity tongue So I'm now thinking of purchasing a paraffin stove of my own because I miss some traditional foodstuffs.

The bread was supposed to look like the picture below, but my 1st attempt on an electric stove left me huffing & puffing.

Nigeria company investing in kenya is not Nigeria Goverment company, it is a private individual company with Nigeria nationality. The remitance of their profit those not land into Nigeria goverment pulse. It landed into the independent Nigeria buisness pulse.

And likewise, Nigeria independent business in kenya pay tax and contribute to kenya developmental progress.

I don't doubt your intentions, but at some point it becomes meaningless.Whatever point everyone wanted to make about this topic has been made. All that's left if a mere competition of who puts in the last word and a bunch of people piling on to make sure their countries aren't left out.

Usuality conquers the brain, as they say. People will never stop using jikos or paraffin stoves because that's what they're used to & their only trusted cooking method for "best results".
Paraffin lamps may be outdated but the rest will live on for maybe another generation or so. Yanno, the one thing I'm glad doesn't exist anymore are those heavy stove irons. I hated those with passion!

This thing right here. You even had to spit on it to test how hot it is grin
