I believe majority of those involved are not kids, which is why I want the resolution to come from them, so that it would be a widely accepted resolution before I start suspending users and deleting posts. Especially since I am neither a buyer, seller, picker or hunter and may not feel what they feel directly but nevertheless the rule of spamming and off-topics is clear, I am only trying to be dynamic and responsive.
So you guys should reach a resolution and effect it.
-- A general thread for TLC deal posting should exist and be used for that purpose,
-- The TLC deals thread can also serve for "who get Samsung Xr in Lagos" posts.
-- Seasoned deal hunters can still have their personal threads to sell deals.
-- Item sellers should have their personal threads too, to sell their items.
-- Once a while, I mean once a while, as in Oooooonce in a whileeeey, deals can be posted in the thread of the pickers where the deal is.
-- Local / Landed ads should never be posted in picker threads.

..so let's start from the above suggestions, let's add and remove as required, then we take a firm decision.
No 5 should be taken out of the pictures.

When you say Once in a While then is as if we ain't moving forward even you yourself is afraid of the Once in a while that is why you had to emphasize it.

Every picker on Technology Market update their thread at least Once in a day.....so, that is enough to keep their thread alive.

I personally still believe creating a thread and pinning it to the No 1 spot on Tech market is still the best to go just like @Singapore1 pointed out in the case of business section. At least both the new, old user including visitors can't get to skip the number 1 Topic.

Once you guys are Ok with it, then one of you should create the thread.

Then the onus to keep picker threads clean also lie with you, ads and those erring posts should be reported using the report button, then I can delete and suspend the user as required.

here's what I've been able to get from suggestions made here,

I'm still not in support of deal hunters opening threads as it would aid/encourage scam.

What can be done?

1. Repeated ads must be stopped.
2. Pictures on an ad should not be more than 2.
3. No need for unnecessary spacing in your ads.
4. Items already in Nigeria should not be advertised on a pick up thread again.
5. A particular ad should not appear more than once in 24hrs and anytime after that, deal hunter should only quote with the word still available without picture.

QED

To me, the measures listed above is the best way to go but then its a democratic setting here, whatever is agreed by most people should be implemented.

A step in the right direction . I support and to modify the second point, no need for pictures, maybe one will be fair and if agreed that no pictures will be attached, then if n item has a crack, dent or issue with the phone, then it should be stated in the ad.

Don't mind him. I'm sure he will still be suspended at least twice.. cos he will still go and spam.

Dragnet, I'll suggest we stand with the status quo first until final decision is made regarding TLC ads. As such TLC ads can still be on pick up threads.

Also, I noticed you didn't include any of my suggestions into your final list of potential solutions you summarized as suggested by the stakeholders. Like I said, I will go with the majority but you need to include my inputs and let's all deliberate on it. And I hope before the end of today, we all can come up with the final decision and action is enforced immediately.

It isn't a democratic setting, I asked for suggestions and inputs, I didn't make a poll.

I didn't put any of your suggestions in my list because they don't seem to support our resolve especially because it won't be easy to enforce. let me expatiate them point by point below.

1. how do you stop repeated ads? because people won't stop just because we say so and there's already a resolution that we want the ads inside the pickup threads, either repeated or not.

2. not inside pickup threads, and even on the deals thread, pictures can be sent via WhatsApp.

3. We can't really enforce the spacing rule, we can enforce all caps and all bolds.

4. Nothing is wanted inside pickup threads, even those that started deal hunting didn't start by posting it inside pickup threads, they had their personal threads and it worked quite well.

5. quoting an advert with "still available" is still the same as posting the ad or even adds more words to the post, so we don't want it at all.

Deal hunters should come up with a single thread ! Simple . Build something , cluttering someone else’s thread is highly distracting and hard for Ops to relay information to their clients . Dragnet good job
