ecomog1990: Missile frigates and submarines? Is that wise? At present, the threats we face have to do with piracy and massive oil theft. I don't think we need frigates and submarines to stop these. Fast attack crafts, corvettes and patrol boats like the Shaldag in their hundreds should be more than enough to take care of these threats, make Nigeria safe and boos trade. Considering the billions of dollars we lose yearly through oil theft and piracy, buying naval assets in their scores would be a very worthwhile and urgent investment. |

Kano is the first place where an aircraft landed in Nigeria. 3 DH 9A aircraft of the Royal Air Force took off from Helwan, Egypt. With stopovers in Egypt, Sudan and N’Djamena – then known as Fort Lamy (Fallomi in Hausa), the aircraft landed in Kano on November 1, 1925 at Polo Ground . 2 Likes

GabrielYulaw: bro, over 400 gunboats & MPV, OPV ships were bought for navy's anti piracy fight, it's enough for the job bro. the problem now is navy becomes coast guard without missile frigates - submarines it is not a navy and cannot defend nigeria against a foreign navy if gulf of guinea oil dispute suddenly restarts. bakassi vs cameroon is lesson of what can happen to nigeria, navy chief does not want nigeria wounded because our navy cannot stop another navy violating our oil rich waters that our economic survival depends on. 5 Likes |

ecomog1990: Who are you exactly? I like the boldness and authority with which you speak. Anyway, you say we have 400 gunboats, yet the waters of Somalia is safer than the gulf of Guinea. How come? This snafu costs us billions of sorely needed dollars yearly in direct and indirect revenue. Perhaps we should just establish a coast guard and a navy too. The latter will be given serious armaments like the missile frigates and subs that you mention. But is a missile frigate not an overkill? Check out the Israeli Saar-class corvette, especially the latest versions. That boat has more heavy armament than most cruisers and destroyers that I know of. 4 Likes 1 Share |

GabrielYulaw: bro, we are all equal nigerians, just maybe my past uniform wearing affects my mind atimes. somalian sea is fully patrolled 24/7 by european asian american heavy endurance opv cutters, missile destroyers battle cruisers heavy frigates, submarines & aircraft carriers, all world big powers with best navies team up for safe shipping international trade in somalia oceans. only nigerian navy alone does ninety per cent gulf of guinea patrols, our fellow african nations abandoned us to do it because they don't have much to lose. nigeria already has 'coast guard' service called nimasa, it's corrupt & incompetent. half nigeria's oil resource is offshore, better we arm navy with overkill to secure our million stomachs 6 Likes |

What is a charmer lol, i was thinking guys with black magic or whatever. Anyways, doesn't it make sense to ban the idea of people bringing jerry cans to buy gas? That way if you didn't come with a vehicle, then no gas for you. I mean it will be more tedious for the bandits having to make frequent trips with cars and then siphoning off the gas over and over. Or better yet just train/hire more officers and institute community patrols all over the country, it's the one big reason for insecurity. Out here right now, police are always present around playgrounds all over New York City, because that's where drug deals go down etc, public housings as well, they have mobile trailers there with cameras to monitor the areas, this helps. bidexiii: |

Sizzorkay: Well said mate, The situation right there in zamfara is quite defferent; community policing is what they need at each rural area since the federal government as failed to protect adequate security. Anyways let's watch and see the way these so called "charmers" of a thing play out. |

GabrielYulaw:During the ECOMOG YEARS The Main Sniper rifle used by the NA was the American sniper M40 ( There is a picture of a Nigerian soldier carrying one during their triumphant return to Monrovia. It does appear that BIDEXII and WIKI let thecat out of the BAG The AFSF it appears have designated the T-5000 as their designated Sniper Rifle. 3 Likes |

DaV8King: Got it. I have even heard that if you beg enough the Russians will take weaponry from their own stocks so as to ensure very speedy delivery. I was asking about the sniper rifle merely cause I was under the impression that we have heavily shifted to buying American arms. So, seeing a Russian rifle being carried by a Nigerian armed forces personnel was kinda surprising. |
