Wonders of NSE, just as sterling bank is now more expensive than fcmb and fidelity.

You can count the number of quoted companies in Nigeria that practice proper governance on the fingers on one hand only. Any quoted company controlled by a family or a dominant individual poses a high risk to financial returns no matter how well they may appear to be doing. The information asymmetry is just too much for a sane investor to deal with.

I beg to disagree , this is Africa(Nigeria in Particular), we dont practice true Free market economy.....The first thing I look out for in companies I try to invest in are Key men or family influence and whether they are in favor with the Government in power ,

what of Jim oviah/zenith?

I don't know but I will rather deal with caution. Same for Elumelu/UBA. Makanjuola/Caverton, Balogun/FCMB, Wigwe/Access etc. I am not saying you cant make money from these shares but just be aware of the risks you run. Truth is that these CEOs have their boards in their pockets and they let you know only what they want.

From a retail investor perspective, perish the thought of saying you are investing in those companies for the long term. You will most certainly lose in anything nearing the long term. Look back at the graveyard or hospice of NSE. Its has an equal number of once "great companies" as those that were outright frauds during boom period. A few more great companies are are already reaching out for the phone to dial ambulance.

Just a matter of time...

The way I see this market now,the only thing that can stop the bleeding is releasing of Q1 results.

Maybe the unhealthy policies might be eradicated before half year results.

Since yesterday,I have not been myself due to excessive money I have put into this market hoping for a better return in the nearby future. Now my business is shaking seriously as a result of this action.

I know other people here are having similar issues now unless those who have mouth and no portfolio.

Imagine Transcorp coming back to #1,zenith #18,Fcmb #1.50.
And may even go below these prices if no intervention.I think I will be going off from the forum from now until my portfolio is back again.

Lol

Wonders of NSE, just as sterling bank is now more expensive than fcmb and fidelity.
Indian investors are the brain behind the Northward journey of sterling Bank.
Indian economy is doing well and the investors need a new home for their money. In sterling bank, they find a suitable suitor. I will not be surprised if sterling price reaches N5 by July /August.
The important thing to bear in mind they may unplug unexpectedly.
Based on information available on bloomberg.com, there are 2 Indians in the management . One in the executives the 2nd one is a board member. .
One of the biggest bank in India has a good holding in the bank as well through a nominee. With the look of things, They are here to stay for a long time in sterling economy.

https://nairametrics.com/2019/03/25/sterling-bank-signs-deal-with-american-energy-company/

With this we can say
2018/19 is the sterling year, same way 2017/18 was the year of CCNN
All the news coming from sterling are good.
We hope the momentum will be sustained. .
The only but in sterling is the current price. It should be trading at sub N2 to allow more people to join the train.

verdict.... Better to accumulate gradually.
