Got it. I have even heard that if you beg enough the Russians will take weaponry from their own stocks so as to ensure very speedy delivery. I was asking about the sniper rifle merely cause I was under the impression that we have heavily shifted to buying American arms. So, seeing a Russian rifle being carried by a Nigerian armed forces personnel was kinda surprising.

Maybe for complete weapons systems, and even that is debatable.

Small arms? Never.

Too expensive and problematic for what they are.

I believe across the services we probably have more Israeli than American rifles

#Tunisia to be the first country in the region, to allow a woman to join its Special Forces.
She successfully passed two thirds of the USGN rigorous training already (85 to 90% of candidates drop before that)
Now only few months and one last test remains before officially joining .

Nigeria is ripe for 4 services: Army, Navy, Air Force and Marines.

The marines could be a division-sized element which will encompass the Coast Guard

Have always been hoping to see the Nigeria Marines NM cool cool come to reality grin grin..But before that, NN and NA should get to the level of the current NAF before another branch is being created.

Sadly, no military will allow him deploy with this. He will be confined to camp duties whilst the rest of the unit is deployed, that is if he doesn't eventually get medically discharged. He will be a liability to his colleagues when it's time to run and/or jump over obstacles.

Medically discharged from his unit or military? No need to answer that lol.
Point is, not every person in military uniform goes to war or deployed, there are many other duties he can be assigned to, without leaving the military.

RE - 18 SOLDIERS KILLED IN ISWAP ATTACKS

The attention of the Multinational Joint Task Force has been drawn to a story published online, claiming that the break away faction of Boko Haram Terrorists, otherwise known as Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) has killed 18 soldiers in a recent attack within the Area of Operation. The MNJTF wishes to state categorically that no such attack and loss of service personnel has taken place within its area of responsibility .

The MNJTF wishes to note that the falsehood being orchestrated by the media arm of ISWAP is nothing but a desperate attempt to revamp the parlous and deplorable image of ISWAP following several weeks of devastating operational losses in the Lake Chad Area.

It has been widely reported and it is now common knowledge that sustained offensive actions by MNJTF troops and national forces have resulted in over 200 ISWAP personnel casualties and defections as well as numerous equipment seizures and destruction. The claim of killing 18 MNJTF personnel in an unspecified location is therefore very strange and completely untrue. Consequently, the general public is advised to disregard the ISWAP falsehood in its entirety.

Furthermore, the MNJTF also wishes to draw the attention of the media to the sacred duty it owes the generality of peace loving citizens of the Lake Chad Basin Countries and therefore urges the media to remain vigilant in order to frustrate attempts by terrorists to spread falsehood and propaganda in a bid to disrupt public order, peace and civility.

You are please requested to disseminate this information to the general public.

3,000 TO BENEFIT AS NAF COMMENCES 2-DAY MEDICAL OUTREACH AT GWALLAGA COMMUNITY IN BAUCHI

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has flagged off a 2-day Medical Outreach Programme at Gwallaga Community in Bauchi State. The Outreach, which commenced today, 5 April 2019, is expected to provide health education and counseling, laboratory screening, visual acuity checks and free prescription glasses, dental health services as well as clinical services, minor surgeries and free medications to about 3,000 members of the Community. The Programme, which is an initiative of the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar, is part of the humanitarian activities embarked upon by the NAF to enhance civil-military relations whilst providing succour to host communities and ‘winning their hearts and minds’.

Speaking while flagging-off the Outreach, the Air Officer Commanding Special Operations Command (AOC SOC), Air Vice Marshal (AVM) Napoleon Bali, who was represented by the Chief of Staff SOC, AVM Aliyu Bello, reaffirmed the commitment of the NAF to continue providing qualitative healthcare and humanitarian services to host communities and Internally Displaced Persons across the country in order to reduce the burden of preventable diseases and improve the overall well-being of inhabitants. “It is expected that over 3, 000 members of the community will benefit from this outreach which was designed primarily to alleviate the suffering the people who might not be able to afford quality medical care”, he said. He stated that patients with minor medical issues would be diagnosed and treated on the spot while those with more complex cases would be referred to the 261 NAF Reference Hospital Bauchi for further evaluation and care. He noted that the free healthcare services would also be extended to other communities in Bauchi like Durum, Koho and Malmo in the following days. The AOC seized the opportunity to thank the government and people of Bauchi State for their hospitality and support to the NAF.

Expressing his delight, the Mai Angwan Gwallaga, Alhaji Dan Dada Ahmadu, appreciated the leadership of the NAF for bringing succour to the people of the Community. He also thanked the Service for its immense contributions in ensuring security in Bauchi State.

PRESS RELEASE

NIGERIA GERMAN ARMED FORCES COLLABORATE FOR OPERATIONAL EFFICIENCY

The Armed Forces of Nigeria (AFN) and Germany are strenghtening collaborative efforts to enhance equipment and technical support for Nigerian military to further improve operational efficiency. The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Abayomi Gabriel Olonisakin made this revelation while receiving a delegation of the German Armed Forces led by the Commander Corps of Engineers, Brigadier General Lutz Enrich Niemann during a recent visit to the Defence Headquarters, Abuja.

The CDS stated that the visit provided much needed forum for interaction on measures to improve the existing collaboration between Nigerian Armed Forces and her German counterpart in the area of engineering and technical training support for personnel through the instrumentality of the German Technical Advisory Training Group (GTAG) in Nigeria. He added that this would go a long way to further improve the cordial relationship between the two countries.

The Chief of Defence Staff, who was represented by the Director of Production at the Defence Headquarters, Air Vice Marshal Aliyu Gambo Pani thanked the Commander of German Corps of Engineers for his oversight visit, to assess the extent of work done on the various projects being executed by his country in support of the AFN.

Speaking further, the CDS noted that the projects executed by the German Corps of Engineers under the auspices of GTAG will no doubt facilitate the Counter Terrorism and Counter Insurgency Operations in the North East theatre of Operation, stressing that the projects were executed following a memorandum of understanding between the German and Nigerian Governments. While promising to ensure adequate maintenance of the equipment and infrastructure for optimal benefit, he assured the German delegation that the equipment will be put to judicious use and adequately maintained.

In his remarks, the German Commander Corps of Engineers, who also overseas all GTAG activities in West Africa said his visit was aimed at assessing the projects being executed by his country in Nigeria. Brigadier General Niemmann who was accompanied by the Coordinator of GTAG in Nigeria, Lt Col J Gliemann and other Senior officers pointed out, that the German military and AFN has long standing and robust relationship which has helped both militaries in sharing knowledge and experiences in the field of engineering.

It is worth recalling that the collaboration between the Defence Headquarters and GTAG has advanced from technical training to the provision of engineering equipment and training infrastructure in Nigeria in order to enhance the competence of engineering personnel of the AFN. Some of the projects executed by the GTAG under the German assistance programme include the provision of equipment at the Armed Forces Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (AFEME) Mechatronics School in Mogadishu Cantonment Abuja, provision and training of personnel on Counter Improvised Explosive Device at Nigerian Army School of Mechanical Engineering Makurdi and provision of equipment at the Training and Rehabilitation Center situated at the 44 Nigerian Army Reference Hospital Kaduna.

The German delegation alongside a team from the Defence Headquarters later embarked on an inspection tour of the project sites.

Thank you for your kind cooperation.

I’m also surprised Naf didn’t go for an ISR camera, it’s possible they have a better aftermarket option though.
Cameroon Air Force went for the full package, search light, rescue winch and ISR camera.

Cost. These can be integrated here in Nigeria by the airforce itself. A full package means a higher cost. Alot of our helos get fitted with isr equipments here in Nigeria.
