Eyah... I'd rather go and take a bus than go through this.
Abuja-Kaduna expressway is the deadliest roads in Nigeria presently.. The chances of getting kidnapped or nabbed or killed is 2. There is no odds here....it is all even.

NRC needs online ticketing and train passes. Im sure alot if these people are daily users. They should sell weekly and monthly passes.
They do monthly ticket I say it this morning when the checker was checking our tickets.

Some people just jump into conclusion just to discredit the government without doing any findings.

So what's wrong in queuing

This is a common sight in developing countries na.
You should be more appreciative of the cooperation.

People also queue up just to buy akara from Mama Salamatu every morning so that's no an issue. Not yet.

But the trains hardly run in the old southeast region of Nigeria where the country makes its oil money.
Buhari govt is shooting Nigeria on the feet with its policy of building modern train lines in only north and to some extent, in the southwest regions.

In a country, the side left behind draws the others backwards.

Having a long que is inefficient since there's are reasonable options to reduce line. I dont see ehy people should wait in sun for tickets. Even the NRC acknowledged they need online ticketing. They're missed their deadline to provide it.

I've never seen the option to buy monthly ticket on NRC website. Here's the fares listed on website.

Now what's wrong with having more options?

You need reorientation. Some of you have adapted so well to ill treatment that you fight anyone who speaks up... Stockholm syndrome. sad

They are obviously understaffed. They need to open more channels for ticket sales to avoid long queues and also use ticket machines to enable people pay with their debit cards for ease...

U are the one to make more findings here bro, I follow train everyday from Ijoko to Oshodi, we don't blame govt for everything, govt provides enough ticketers in all the terminals but some Nigerians are just lazy, most of them don't come on time...like this morning only one ticketer was selling tickets while we know they have more than 6 persons that always sell ticket in the terminal.

Then there is Monthly pass sold for 8k to make life easier for passengers. Its good to always make findings bfre conclude on government performance.

Our problem is corruption, some people are sabotaging govt efforts, I leta heard that the ticketers always come late so they can make more money in the Coaches when cash will be collected from passengers and won't enter in govt account

So some people don't see anything wrong with this long queu? Hmm, it shows how bad our mentality is generally, and it also shows that there may not be hope for this country. These are people that are going for one important thing or d other, wht is d essence of d stupid queu? Why can't four to five people sell the tickets? Don't be surprised we may have elderly people on that queu, dey wl b tired. probably d train transportation is cheaper, so one must suffer and sweat under d sun, while evil leaders who hv ruined dis country r cruising around in dia SUVs. Developing country my foot, is dt an excuse? How long wl it b a developing country. Wht is right is right, wt is wrong is wrong, because such queu can be found in oda counties does not mean it's right. We shd learn to emulate good examples.

This is what you have to go through to get a train ticket in Nigeria, this is 2019, who did this to us

From government officials to the average Nigerian, there is something about the average Nigerian and looking out for a way to make things difficult for every Nigerian.

We create problems where none should exist. This is 2019, it would cost nothing to have people buy train tickets online, then check in to board the train but what do we have instead? Queues. More time and life wasted. What is wrong with us?

https://zenithnaija.com/see-what-people-go-through-just-to-get-a-train-ticket-in-nigeria-photo/

This is appalling, can't the management of Nigeria rail way corporation outsource selling of ticket to agent(travel agencies)around the country, including online purchases. Here in Europe train ticket can be bought online, travel agencies and including use of app for purchases, Nigeria is messed up we look for ways to make life difficult for ourselves

I don't know why we enjoy suffering in this country.

From what you've said, it's obvious that these people are not very efficient. How can one person be the only one to sell tickets when they should be six?

You also mentioned the issue of corruption in the system, which ought not to be so and their manager should be held accountable.

It's obvious the fault is within the system, not the customers, cos the NRC is the seller and the people are the customers. If we see it from that perspective, then we wouldn't be blaming the people.

NRC is already planning on doing online ticketing. It wont just copy the process for airlines or other train services.

Imagine queuing at the airport to get ticket
The truth is we lack people with great innovative ideas in government that is why we do things the old way. In 2019 Inec is still posting names of their recruitment list of temporary staff outside their office when they can easily have it posted online. If you see the crowd just to confirm their names, you won't believe it!
Virtually every youth in Nigeria now operate a mobile phone so why not do most of this things online?
Just like the Federal government Npower program, I will commend who so ever that is the brain behind the Npower program. The process for application and verification were all stress free and was done online. One didn't have to que up to get forms or any kind of stress

I think we need to grow beyond this level of always doing things the old way

this is not the problem, the real problem lies when the passengers want to board the train, the kind of run people will take enter the train, you think that it is marathon race. and with some kind of strength and struggle.
infact it is not easy.

If you really know the history of railway in Nigeria for years you will appreciate this government. For Nigeria today railway is now working from Lagos to as far as Kano. This process might be slow but there is work in progress. Since our second coming of democracy, this is the only time rail-line has come back alive.

my brother, this is highest level of mediocrity I've ever seen. Go take a look at the newly commissioned railway in morocco manufactured by the French wt a speed of over 180km/hr connecting tangier agadez....you're here heaping praises on inefficient APC Government
