pls what's the different between primary market and secondary market for TB.

I went to access bank today for enquiry, I was told they sell TB on a daily basic only on secondary market at the minimum rate of 11%-12% depends

Yes Ma'am it is correct. 500,000 * 0.1025 per cent = 51,250
51,250 divided by 364 days is 140.796......
140.796..... times 114 days is 16,050.824175.....
Remember that interest is per annum, that's why I divided the interest by 364 days, and multiplied it by 114 days.
MODIFIED: Also please read previous pages of this thread like Ogogoro (which kin name be that sef) stated above

Primary market is like wholesale while secondary market is like retail. You can also see primary market as 'buying the bale of clothes' and secondary market as 'bend down select'. cool.

I went to First Bank today to make inquiry about TBil (Primary Market to be precised) and the person in charge told me to fill the form for it and the money in my account will be deducted immediately but it can only start counting from next week Wednesday being 17/04/2019 when the TBil will be available.

My question is, is this how TBil works?
I thought it can only be deducted on that said Wednesday?
Is the guy really truthful or is he trying to use the money for business first or what?
Please can someone address this issue for me because i am confuse. Didn't fill the form though.


Pls, lets educate us correctly. Virtually all the banks often deduct the amount you intend to invest few days to the D-day. This is so because some customers in need of urgent money will still go and withdraw the money they have already entered for t-bill investment.

Don't ever try TBills with Zenith Bank. I have three TBills with them.

I agree it is safe. But it's not a treasury bill investment, it's a fixed deposit.

@Ibrahim505, did u mean u moved all your tbills to them now? Am thinking of doing same thing again. I initially moved some of my tbills to Mmf and downloaded the apps for the different mutual funds too. But of recent I don't seem to understand how these mutual funds post their daily interest unlike the I invest app that post every 12am.

Monitoring my mmf closely now, sometimes I notice they skip payments even on weekdays if you don't take note. At times they pay in the morning sometimes in the night, sometimes late in the night, you will even get confused which day the payment is for? Just that some are still doing better now in terms of rates than tbills. I still have one that post 13.2 percent as at today.

Problem is that i-invest can't pay you interest that high. You'll also forfeit 30% of your interest in you liquidate before maturity.

If you want to receive yourselves the stress of checking minutes and not seeing your interest..especially for those using Stanbic IBTC asset management. What you should do is screenshot your account daily by 12 - 1.00 p.m every day excluding Sundays.. Pay more attention to what you see on Mondays because the interest credited is alway for two days..both Saturday and Sunday.

I am saying this because I just noticed that lots of people do not take their time to notice the interest credited in their account daily...

I urgently need help please. I will fill my TBil form tomorrow with FBN and I learnt from this forum that you have to bid, % at which you wish to buy the TBil. I want to do six months and from my research, the interest rate is really fluctuating.
This is my first time, should I bid 12.45% or go higher or should I just peg it at 12% only.
I want to do with First Bank.
What's your advice please?

This is my first time, should I bid 12.45% or go higher or should I just peg it at 12% only.

Go with the bank rate it's safer.

Pls what are your reasons? We have so many Zenith Bank customers here. Zenith is one of the best banks for wealthy customers, if you have huge sum of money, Zenith is the best choice.... I have over 100m with them in different investment channels and I am growing rapidly. But Zenith Bank is not too good for starters or someone trying to build up his/her finance, I know they sometimes discriminate or undermine poor customers, that's one thing I don't like about them as well.
