I saw the blue paper coming but I kept cool since you said you have already booked interview.

Before you go back make sure you take the GRE.
Get some scholarship in a nice school.
National University is not as good as UI or even Uniben.
All those schools that share blocks with LovePeddler houses.

Lmao! The last statement tho. Thanks for the advice bro. Appreciate.

1. Unfortunately, u already resigned from your job.

2. U also found this thread too late.

3. A health related degree in my opinion puts you at a better job advantage than political science.

4. U might need to write the GRE n TOEFL. But I don't think u can still make fall 2019. Prepare for fall 2020.

5. The fact that your uncle stays in LA doesn't mean u have to school in California. Except u r going to school from his house, there is really no need to stick with California which is the worst state in terms of living costs (I stand to be corrected).

6. There is no "magic" search engine. U have to search yourself on Google n check every single programs.

7. Search for schools with lower tuition fees in affordable states.

Thanks for your message bro.
Your points are well noted!
Appreciate...

Good Day House, I dropped my previous proposed transcript for review and some corrections were made. Gurus in the house kindly give you vivid opinion. I am 25 years of age 3 years work experience in Finance and Logistics.
Vo: GoodMorning pass me u I-20 and passport
Me : GoodMorning here you go
Vo: What are you going to study in the US
Me: Masters in Management and Supply Chain with comcerntration in Transport and Logistics in Wichita state University a 22 months program that starts on the 4th of August and Ends in May 2021.
Vo: Why WSU.
Me:
I picked WSU due to these 4 important reason:
1. The Barton school of business has a really great faculty that consists of individuals with solid work experience and industry acumen in the logistics and transport space,They also boast of ex CEOs and ex Directors on thier faculty listbwith an average industry experience of 15-20 years which is fantastic. Learning from these individuals will give me a solid understanding of the industry concept.
2. The Barton school of business is the only school accredited by AACSB south of Kansas Missouri a feat held by a selected few universities in the world.
3. The school also boasts of a very decent tuition fee and payment plan which perfectly fits within the brackets of my family’s budget.
4. I got to know about the school from my previous Team Lead who was an alumnus from WSU and heaped praises on the Faculty and Staff
VO: Ok So what have you been doing since your graduation?
Me: I graduated in 2015 after which I went for my compulsory Service to Nigeria, completed in 2016.
I got at job at a finance company where I worked at the General Resource Management Team, till 2018 after which I moved to total spec forwarding and International logistics Ltd where I work now as an Operations Associate. In charge of keeping stock of the quantity of goods available at the warehouse, amount of fleets available for dispatch,Keeping registers of Cleared Containers.
VO: Ok why not study here in Nigeria
Me: Sadly the masters Degree is not offered here in my home country. Also a foreign degree would give me an edge over others when I return to Nigeria after my studies.
Vo: Do you have relations In the US
Me: No
VO: who is sponsoring this trip
Me: my Dad who owns Fadco Nig Ltd who is into the Whole sale of Building materials and sanitary wares( Tiles, bath tubs, Jacuzzi, toilet seats etc)
Vo: Ok visa approved. I hope your aware of the 30 days rule
Me : yes I am Thank You.

I know this is lengthy but I have mastered speaking fast and Clearly. Gurus in the house this is my first attempt at visa. I have no travel history except within Africa which I heard doesn’t count. The school promised to offer me GA only if I attain a certain first semester GPA. The school Tuition Breakdown as it appears on my I-20 is $23,500. @fairheart @lagosismyhome kindly assist to review.

Warm Regards.
please house someone else should help Review this. Thanks

The school is ranked, it is ranked 7, 8 and 10 on some website for my program. I need first hand information based on past embassy experiences from Nigerians.

Oh great then.

@bracelum,
You’ve been doing a great job on this forum and I say kudos to you. However, please understand that if you don’t provide help other people will. Humility will teach you a lot. Learn to respect other people’s opinion. Nobody is an island. OluDare has been on this forum way before you got here and has probably rendered more assistance than you. This wasn’t how we used to do it. The survival of these thread can only be attributed to mutual respect and understanding. Another important thing to note is, there are actually people who aren’t within the same age bracket with you on this forum. Please learn to address people with respect. I notice how you never seem to agree with a differing opinion. You are doing a great work like I mentioned earlier just try to do it with humility. I really hope you don’t respond with insults because that’ll be too predictable and I won’t be dignifying that with a response.

Schools get levels and I agree with you, but not everyone has the right profile to enter top schools. What if he decides to go to a small school for his master's and then apply to a top school for a PhD? We all have different paths in life and the last time I checked, what gets you a job is what you know and the skills you have, not your school’s ranking.
I know a lot of people that went to ‘small schools’ that work for top reputable companies like Intel, IBM, Dow, Apple, Eli Lilly, Amgen, to mention but a few.
Ofcourse you have more opportunities in terms of funding, research facilities and personnel when you attend a top school. If you can’t get into those schools, attending a small school isn’t a bad idea.

That's true tho Oludare1! School, is not a yardstick to work in a big firm. You might not even get to enter a so big firm here in the US but work for a small firm and earn huge money like those working in the big firm. It all boils down to your skills. However, top schools play a big role in getting top jobs sometimes.

Hi guys. I think this may have been asked before but I'll appreciate an answer still.

Does the consular have access to information on the schools and the particular program one applies to?

I applied for a mix of MBA and MSc (Electrical) programs and was admitted to some of these programs. I'll be processing my Visa for the MSc program as I had pushed my MBA till a much later time since I wasn't able to secure as much scholarship as I had hoped for the MBA.

Now I'm worried that if this information is made available, it could be flagged or something as they're two very different fields. If the VO asks for the schools I applied to, do I omit the schools I applied to for the MBA? Do I list all the schools I applied to?

I hope im not being unnecessarily paranoid. Just trying to be cautious.

Not that your comments are bad or good , I am neutral but a true test would be your comment 5 to 10 years post graduation.

have u heard from the schools u applied to, especially MTU
Did you submit all the required documents? if not, your application won't be reviewed and you would not be notified of it but your status would read "incomplete or missing documents". And if yes, still check your portal very well if there's anything like "Grad accepting-Pending Financials or Denied". Except your status reads "Accepted", there wouldn't be any email notification of admission from MTU.

You can mention the names of the schools without mentioning the names of the courses. You'll be fine - no need to fret grin grin grin grin.

For instance, "I applied to four schools; University of W, University of X, University of Y and University of Z"

I don't think the VO will go further to ask for the names of the courses you applied to.

Good day Nlanders, I just got admitted for fall 2019 to study MSC in polymer and coating technology at eastern Michigan university, I have an undergraduate degree in chemical engineering, GRE was waived for me cos of my undergraduate and work experience and funding isn't given till after 1st semester.
Please hope this isn't a red flag, the school and the fact that there's no form of GA.
Thanks.

Hello everyone,

I just want to seek opinion. I applied for PhD admission in Mechanical Engineering, Robotics option.

However a professor offered me Biomedical Engineering option.
I never thought of it before.

What is your view please? Can ones interest change and cope with a new area of research not in your plan before?

Before you make your decision, read through the research area of the professor and see if it is something that interest you and align with what you want. The professor might have interest because he is trying to introduce/apply robotics in his research/field. The very reason you want to take your time and make your decision after reading through our diverse opinion.

Drop your profile and the house could be of help

Don't we think this encourages indolence? People should learn to read about schools and come up with why they are choosing their schools of choice. The more we keep encouraging people to drop profile and suggest to them, the difficult it is in the long run since school search is the least of what they can do for them particularly, those going for graduate programs.

If it is highly ranked in your field, then you are good to go. Just be able to convince the VO why you chose the school and program alongside how it aligns with your long term goals.

Before listing all the schools you applied to, make sure the university you applied for the MBA programs offers the engineering program as well. If they don’t offer the engineering program, don’t mention the school.

You're vwry correct.
That's why the VO asks about how you found the school, the process of app and why you chose the school. Las las it is advisable to do your personal research.
