Hi everyone, I'm a boy of 18yrs and I'm suffering from the sin of masturbation! I started viewing porn since I was 11yrs old and started masturbating since I was 13, I've tried several times to quit it but the highest I can go is 3weeks. I've never had sex before and I've never had a girlfriend before. Fast forward to 2018 during the ASUU strike I gave my life to Jesus Christ and regretted committing all the sins I've committed in the past and reconciled with my cousin whom I haven't spoken to for a year. I read my Bible and prayed day and night then ASUU called off the strike and the devil used it as an opportunity to trap me then I began staring at girls backsides in school and saying in my mind that its not a sin if u don't lust after them, people around me were saying all sort of bad stuffs, and the school itself was loading me with work and I stopped praying and reading my Bible daily ( but I do it 3-4 times a week) and concentrated on studying my school books and started viewing sex related front page threads on nairaland, then one night I wanted to pray and sleep but I was too weak to pray so I said the Lords prayer and slept then I had a dream that I was in a room with some boys and girls my age and we were talking then the others left me alone with 1 girl and she started touching me and started touching her and just as we were about to have sex I woke from my dream then a demon was present with me attaching itself to me from my back and holds me tight , all I could see were its hands and legs it never let's me see it's face (it's not the first time, it usually does this to me at night whenever I masturbate in the day time) then I prayed in my heart and it left 3 days after that event I viewed a sex related FP thread and boom I masturbated for the first time after 3months and I felt bad and forsaken. Then I asked for forgiveness and went back to it again and finally asked for forgiveness again last night I cried seriously because I knew I wasn't worthy but believed I could be forgiven then after the prayer (about 20minute which was my usual for praying) then I read my bible and slept then woke up at 4:00 and wasn't feeling sleepy so I prayed and read my bible then I began to feel sleepy so I slept, then I had a dream were I held chicken in my hands then I put it in my mouth and realizing I was dreaming, I knew it wasn't right to eat in a dream so I removed it from my mouth and woke up,, Boom I saw the scariest thing I've ever seen my life a spirit wearing a red shirt and a blue jeans trouser staring at me beside my bed but I couldn't move or speak but I wasn't afraid and I was praying in my mind, I don't know if it was a demon or a spirit but it was as short as a 12yrs old boy very dark and skinny but the face wasted clear enough for me know whether it was human or demon, then it left and I regained my self so I got up and prayed then went back to bed and took my phone and starting browsing football news because I wasn't scared of it and the time was 5something then.

I've never told anyone this my problem before, I really never want backslide again. Pls if there is any advice u have for me pls say it really love u guys so much!

I'm sorry to hear this trouble that you have. However, it is not nearly as uncommon as it may seem to you. Every single Christian stumbles no matter how great or mature they are. Of course, the more mature a Christian gets, the less they stumble into gross sin like the one you are complaining about here. This is why it is very important for Christians to make it a point of duty to grow up spiritually.

It is a joy to hear that you take your Bible-reading and prayer seriously. Not many Christians today take it as seriously as you do, and it is tremendously important. However, Bible reading and prayer are only one part of the equation. Spiritual growth comes from taking pains to learn the Bible in-depth from a gifted and prepared Bible teacher. Reading your Bible is important both so that you can see for yourself what it is that God says, and so that you can be sure that what the teacher is telling you is actually true. But growing spiritually will simply not happen unless you commit to learning the Bible under one teaching ministry that feeds you substantive and correct Bible teaching.

As you grow, like I said, you will find it easier to give up sinful habits and adopt godly ones. If you don't grow, it remains a very daunting daily battle that will constantly rob you of your joy and peace. To be clear, it will never cease to be a daily battle, but spiritual growth and maturity does make it easier to win more often.

None of us will ever be perfect in this sinful body, but we can reach a very high level of sanctification, if we are willing to fight for it with spiritual growth.

This one is also highly recommended, and is a video ministry. If you prefer that media, you can use it instead. The important thing is not whether it is video or text or audio or even who the teacher is. It is that you get the Truth straight. These two teachers are people that I highly recommend. But the choice is up to you whether it is one of them or it is somebody else entirely outside of the two of them.

Whoever you choose from wherever, never lose sight of your Bible. Keep it close to make sure that your teacher is telling you the Truth about what God says.

You need to acknowledge that you can't help yourself from falling back into what you don't want to do. The Holy Spirit is the only One who can help you, so stop trying to descipline yourSELF and seek His help.
Your main problem isn't the sin of masturbation but SIN and SELF. Masturbation or any other sin is only a symptom of dominion of of SIN over your soul(mind and emotion). Every believer in Christ has had one or more struggles against SIN at one point or the other, the struggle is necessary so we'll know you can't overcome them by yourSELF but by the finished work of Jesus Christ on the cross through the power of the Holy Spirit.
You only need to start yielding to the prompting of the Holy Spirit EVERY MOMENT to reckon yourSELF dead to SIN by denying your personal desires for God's desires.
You'll need to read spiritual books apart from the Bible to help you on how to yield your whole being to the control of the Holy Spirit EVERYDAY so you can be free from the dominion of SIN and be under the dominion of the SPIRIT.

I hope you have meditated on the passage I provided for you, because it contains Jesus, the Master's answer concerning what you intend to achieve, which is not to continue to fall into temptations and sin against God.

For someone who never fell into temptations or sinned was Jesus, being perfect in all His ways, so In my own opinion the best way to be able replicate that feat is to learn from the perfect One Himself.

And on that particular occasion He was giving an tip to His own disciples, even those who were going to take over the barton from Him, how He was able to achieve that unprecedented feat. And it was via prayer, for as He said the flesh is weak but the spirit is willing.

Now here's the catch, those are two factors that determine your every action, your flesh or your spirit, for the two combined made you a living soul.

Now while your flesh proceeded from the earth, and hence tends towards the things of the earth and consequently towards sin which is what happens when one falls into temptations, your spirit proceeded from God, and therefore tends towards the things that be of God, and consequently the obedience of His words which means the same thing as not sinning or falling into temptations.

Hence Jesus saying that one prays so that he would not fall into temptation, since prayer is a means via which man relates with his Creator from whom his spirit came, for that is a way for man to grow the influence of his spirit over his actions, and hence make him not fall into temptation or sin against God because the spirit of man is willing and inclined towards obedience of God's Word.

And fasting is also meant to achieve the same purpose, as you should already know the saying, "man shall not live by bread alone, but by every Word that comes out of the mouth of God", for while bread feeds your flesh, fasting feeds your spirit and enable it grow and hence have more influence over your actions.

Now why these two are so important is because of how important it is that you are obedient to God's Word and do not fall into temptations and sin against God, for that's the most important thing with respect to man's existence on Earth.

For from your experiences, you should already be able to see the relationship/connection that exists between your falling into temptation/ sinning, and Satan and the demons etc. having power over you, for the only power that Satan could have over man is that which man's disobedience of God's Word has accorded him.

So otherwise Satan is powerless, and you should also be able to see the connection between Satan being powerless in Jesus' respect, and the fact that Jesus was perfect and never sinned or fell into temptation.

I would say more to you concerning this, but i advice that you start applying this knowledge already provided to your situation, and I know since it's the Truth, the Truth shall set you free.

Firstly, millions of believers struggle with sexual desire. Sexual desire is mostly emotional and physical and you can't always easily switch it off with thoughts. You will grow to be able to, but, it never really goes away. The body that God has given you is working as it should, and your body is telling you that. It's nothing to be worried or even ashamed of. There is a difference between letting your body do what it needs to, and using imagery in your mind or using porn. Don't use imagery.

The Bible discusses 'defiling the body', but, if you think rationally about it - would God want you to be equally ashamed of feeling hungry or thirsty? Try to detach your feelings from what you will no doubt have to do (as little as possible hopefully). Don't even think about any girl when you do it. That is unacceptable. It's disrespectful, and can lead to reliance on mental images and pervert the natural reason for sex within a relationship - love and babies.

It isn't 'sexual perversion' to just let your body do what it needs to do. It is perversion if you start to take pleasure in it outside of a relationship, and let it control you. If it happens so often that you feel that it is making you feel shame, do it less often. Persecuting your mind at your age should not be happening. Respect your mind and take care of it. You will serve God with it in the future. If you are too young to get married, and don't want to make your life a crazy misery, forgive yourself, but get tougher on yourself with prayer. God is compassionate. He made you. The more you think and worry about these things, the more the evil one is laughing.

I'm not sure who is visiting you at night, but, one single prayer to Jesus before bed time, to protect you whilst you sleep, will stop it. If Satan tempts you, say "the Lord rebuke you" and know that Jesus has (because He definitely does). That is Biblical. Satan's minions will return to you, as they do to us all. Let Jesus rebuke them. They hate it and flee immediately.
