Gurus in the house, I have a question that has been bugging my mind for a while now.
Sirs/mas, if I'm going to do a DPC ( pour concrete on a DPM), why then should I bother myself with all the partitions during the excavation of the foundation? Why not just get the external diameter, and make some partitions and leave the rest? For instance, instead of digging toilet, ante room, parlour dining, kitchen, store, all the rooms, etc. Why not just a selected few out of all those and then, do the full partitioning after the DPC has been done. I hope I'm understood. Thanks.

Get an Hydrologist to carry out Flocculation & coagulation on it. Then do the normal water treatment if u have money. I prefer reverse osmosis but it is expensive but an Hydrologist should advise u better

As a Certified Civil Engr, I would like to add to what @Bixton has said.

1. There's a span/depth ratio for every slab before it fails for deflection. The greater the span, the higher the depth of slab & the higher the cost in terms of concrete. Thou most people do not understand why it is done, the major reason is to reduce the span as much as possible & if the Bearing capacity of the soil is favorable, the Block walls in the sub-structure can serve as Load bearing.

2. Most Damp proof course (DPC) is plainly concrete & concrete is only good in compression & poor under tensile force. The reinforcements in Reinforced concrete takes care of tensile forces which reduces tensile failures in suspended slabs but it is also a function of span/depth ratio. Since most DPC has Lil or no tensile stress acting on it, it is advisable to keep the span to a bearable minimum to avoid shear or axial failure that may occur due to partition loads & some kinda imposed loads as the case maybe.
