Barcelona won roma 4 - 1

Barcelona 4 - 1 Roma.

You'll hear things like...

"the match ended 4-4 on aggregate.

A match is a contest between 2 teams.

Actually he does. Most of the writers no know ball. I remember in Uni days, it's always those wey no Sabi play ball, who might be substitutes for the 5th team that will be doing all the Sports reporting in the Uni paper. Most of these journalists are Oxbridge educated toff's. The only one I respect his knowledge is Martin Samuel.
lol. You Can say he may know more than some, but all of the sites can't be wrong at the same time.

I am not sure a team will have a great match like he said and be getting that kind of rating in the link he gave.

Moreover, that raumdeuter does not know how to play football does mean he cannot know how to watch and analyze the game [even though he doesn't know how]. Mourinho never made it to professional football, but i believe he knew how to analyze football before he got trained as a coach, if not he wouldn't have been successful at coaching.

this rating here for a team that won a match should tell you that barca were below par.
A defender had to be given the MOTM, that should tell you how poor they were going forward. That rating has nothing that looks like a great performance
The Barca team I saw yesterday didn't put up a poor display. You can see from the ratings you cited above that seven out the thirteen Barca players rated had a score between 7 and 8.

In other words, over 50% of the Barcelona team that featured in yesterday's match against manure had an above average performance. Only few of them were rated 5 (average).

In light of this, you can't say with utmost certainty that Barca had a poor outing, yesterday, especially if you watched the match.

That lone goal that Messi worked out with his well-played lofted pass to Suarez was well-deserved.

You can see that the opinions of sports in the media are divided on Barca's performance in the game.

I would concede that the duo of Messi and Suarez should have done better yesterday in Barca's attack. But to be candid, they didn't perform poorly.

Neither did I add "this season" to my post. I made my post based on the current situation which is...

Barcelona IS the only team in UCL to have an away win.

Quit creating mountain out of nothing.

Man United and Ajax are still in the UCL and the have away wins.

What are you really saying?

Who told you Mourinho never played football? Mourinho played pro football. All these guys played football at least to semi pro level, were in academies at one point, or played to a very high amateur level. Once you play to that level, your football knowledge dey kamkpe.

Mourinho played football for Rio Ave and Belenenses in Portuguese league.

history has it that mou only played at amateur level.

Okay, i agree that mou was a bad comparison for raum's case. But, it doesn't mean that anyone who didn’t play the game can't know how to analyze the game.

History does not have anything.

Rio Ave were in Portuguese top league when Mourinho played for them in 1980s, and they had their best ever finish, nearly qualifying for Europe sef.

No record of such

Even you can add AVB,

At the age of 16, Villas-Boas found himself living in the same apartment block as Sir Bobby Robson, who was then manager of Porto. Following a debate between the two, Robson appointed Villas-Boas to Porto's observation department.

Robson arranged for Villas-Boas to obtain the FA coaching qualification, the UEFA C coaching licence in Scotland and for him to study the training methods of Ipswich Town.[10][12] He obtained his C licence at the age of 17, and his B licence at 18. He received his A licence at the age of 19, and later acquired UEFA Pro Licence under the tutelage of Jim Fleeting.[12][13] Villas-Boas had a short stint as technical director of the British Virgin Islands national team at the age of 21,[14][15] before he moved on to a career as an assistant coach at Porto under José Mourinho. As Mourinho moved clubs to Chelsea and Internazionale, Villas-Boas followed

Arrigo Sacchi
Sacchi was never a professional football player (he had played as a part-time footballer in amateur clubs for some years) and for many years worked as a shoe salesman. This led to his famous quote directed at those who questioned his qualifications: "I never realised that in order to become a jockey you have to have been a horse first."[5] Another famous Sacchi quote is, “Football is the most important of the least important things in life

Avram Grant

Grant's professional coaching career started at age 18, in 1972, as youth coach of his home-town team, Hapoel Petah Tikva. In 1986, after a 14-year spell in this job, he was promoted to first team coach, leading the club to two Toto Cup victories, in 1990 and 1991, thus bringing Hapoel Petah Tikva back to the top of Israeli football after nearly 25 years. During this era Petah Tikva fought regularly for the championship against Shlomo Scharf's Maccabi Haifa. In his last season in Petah Tikva, Grant lost both the championship and the Israel State Cup within 3 days to Maccabi Haifa, in a chain of events which is commonly known in Israel as "the Double robbery".[23] The next year the club won its first major title in 30 years, by winning its second-ever Israeli Cup.

Carlos Alberto Perreira

Name: Carlos Alberto Gomes Parreira
Date of birth: February 27th 1943, in Rio de Janeiro.

Coach of the Brazilian team. The word in Portuguese for coach is técnico.
Parreira has a major in Physical Education. Parreia has never been a professional football player.
He started his career as physical trainer of a small club in Rio de Janeiro called São Cristóvão, in 1967, right after finishing college
; in 1968, he went to Ghana, to coach the National Team, as a means to gain experience and saving some money.

Kane Aguero, Salah Alexis etc that have been dominating EPL, do they even match half of Messis prowess?

Any amount of goals these people score, Messi is guaranteed to score double
How were they dominating when they were not winning best player every season like cr7 and Messi in La Liga... How many epl trophy Tottenham and Arsenal hey during the cause of their dominance...Same Alexis wey don weak at late 20s.

For the past 10 seasons la Liga have been humiliating the EPL regularly beating them comfortably the only time the EPL escaped was it 2012 when chelsea played bus parking and got the result rather than the EPL fans knowing their place behind la Liga, we keep hearing the same tales with minor remixes everytime

The list of tales

La liga teams cannot survive in EPL
Messi cannot survive in EPL
Messi cannot score against Chelsea
Messi cannot score against Cech
Barca and madrid cannot make top 2 in EPL
Guardiola cannot survive in EPL

Yet everyone of this has been proven wrong

Now lost at home and they manage to see some form of victory in a home loss where they had no shot on target.

This was similar to the same noise made when arsenal beat Barca 2-1 at Emirates, chelsea drew 1-1 last year, arsenal drew 2-2 at Emirates and Spurs beat madrid 3-1.

At the end it's always a defeat awaiting them only to come back the next season with another remix of why something from spain cannot survive in England

This is the only time you can be objective

So if Barca played their A game yesterday, they would have walloped Man Utd like 4 or 5 goals to nothing? Was that your expectation in a CL game against one of the top of sides of England?

Even during the Guardiola era in Barcelona in 2008–12, the supposed golden generation of the club, when his team faced a strong Ferguson's Man Utd in 2009 and 2011, they didn't win with such a wide margin
.

They defeated Man Utd with just 2 goals. Barcelona also dominated play those nights, like they did yesterday.

You need to review your definition of "poor games" because the Barcelona team I watched yesterday night had a great game against one of England's best clubs.

They didn't win man United with wide margin boos man United were equally a good side.Let that barca face this man United and you will have every players and Valdes on the scoresheet.

Not on Wikipedia, but if you read deeper, they played at a good amateur level. Sacchi for example played for Baracca Lugo who have had stint in Serie C before. You can't just wake up and be a football coach if you don't know the fundamentals from a playing career at a high amateur level. This is much different from journalists who started writing about football because they are from privileged background and can write, not because they know what a midfielder or full back should be doing in certain situations. The only one I would be unsure of is AVB as his parents are millionaires.

Sacchi was a part time player even in his amateur days when he is done selling shoes just like most of us have our friends we have kickabout football with on weekends after doing our daily jobs

AVB was recorded that he met Robson at age 16 and he went straight into coaching, How much football would he have learnt at 16 when he was probably just entering the equivalent of SS2

Perreira went to Uni to train as a Physical trainer and it led him into coaching

Grant started coaching at age 18 and became the first coach to lead Chelsea to a CL final

Nowadays many people are going straight into coaching without having any pro career

Naggelsman ended his football career at U19 level and went to University to learn Sport admin

Their performance was lackluster, IMO, especially in the attack and Young's wing.

Nothing disappointing, really, considering the calibre of players they fielded and their opponents.

A Messi vs. Ronaldo UCL final may be on the horizon.
