Nikkles01:
Hello everyone, here’s my story

My husband and I moved to the US in 2016 on the L1/L2 visa. In the course of our stay we started an IVF procedure that was mostly funded by insurance. Barely 2 years after our stay, we relocated back to Nigeria. So I went back to the US to have our baby (visa was still valid) but we had lost our insurance so I was a cash patient. My zero balance statement shows I had a bill of $56k and only paid $6,400.

Upon applying for a B1/B2 visa to go back for another IVF for baby number 2 ( I have frozen embryos in their clinic) the VO only pointed out how I paid almost nothing for my baby’s delivery. However, the contract I signed with the hospital clearly stated the amount I paid as being flat and had no discount. Also, I signed a financial Assistance Form which stated that I was offered financial assistance but I didn’t wish to qualify.

I have contacted the hospital where I had baby number 1 but they are insisting that their legal department cannot issue a letter stating that I did not seek or get any financial assistance.

We want to reapply, we just don’t know how to tell the story differently.

This is contradicting on the part of the hospital.

It tells that the hospital must have had the government insurance(Medicaid) paid the outstanding bills you didn't pay off.

I doubt that will fly.

Anyone can make such claim and I don't think the VO will have time trying to verify such claim.

In fact, some people might develop a habit of using such claims just to get the US visa.

Please mamas that had to schedule Notarial appointment for DS3053. Is it possible to book an appointment date in Abuja since Lagos dates for May isn't opened yet. Is there a penalty to canceling Abuja appointment later when Lagos dates opens and of cos better off.

We always show too much fear with this USA people..what’s the big deal and why can’t the embassy do their research to know if she’s speaking the truth or not about her embryo..easy the way we idolize the USA ooo
A letter from the hospital stating same should fly easily and the reciepts of payment for embryo preservation apply for a b2 strictly if they refuse there are fantastic centres with good ivf success rates in naija but i dont think they are that evil...

Please ca you advise if there is any other post related to this as this is the only post i can see on Rose Medical center.
Please see what previous post states I used Rose medical center back in 2016. There are cheaper options but I wouldn’t advise them due to current trends in visa renewal
Are they a cheaper option, or are thier other cheaper options to use?Does it mean you dont advise people to use them?I will appreciate more detaiFinally back to Nigeria from my secondary missionary journey. So in the spirit of giving back *close eyes* total breakdown of bills paid are;

Doc - $2500
Swap test - $90
Hospital two days stay plus epidural - $3685 which includes all test for baby plus hearing test
Epidural - $500 (Was lucky as the anesthesia coy says its 2,500 but hospital gave me an old quote they had stopped using two years ago)
Baby's bill - $270 this was sent after we got to nigeria
Circumcision - $150
Baby's ticket - $420 (United airline but checked in my 4bags and a car seat with an oversized hand luggage which i had to split in two grin)
Baby's bc - $65 (got it in 2days after hospital registered birth)
Baby's passport - 165 ( got it in 2 days, went to the passport agency myself)
Baby's ETC - $250 (Got a discount cos of my many referrals to the agent)

My husband and I got denied US visa based b the $19k discount shown on the Itemized bill from WHMC. We have gotten a revised Zero balance letter and want to reapply. Should we reapply together or individually?

You should find a hospital that does not show such large discounts for bill. VO's dont like that

VO's are trained to presume that you intend to overstay your visa. If they don't think you have strong ties to home you will be denied. When you apply with your husband with you that's just one less tie to home. Your chances are better applying seperately

Yes, you are entitled to a carry on bag for your baby and yea, you can check in your hand luggage but that will be at the boarding gate not the counter. So you will have to manage with Ur hand luggage till you get to the boarding gate.

Well for me, I checked in her car seat with the carton, underneath it i put alot of stuffs that where heavy but with small

Then i requested for wheel chair, so i could drag along two hand luggages because i carried her with baby carrier on the wheel chair, and they took one bag off me at the boarding gate to check it in.

Hello mama, please I had my babies in hnwmc in 2016 and 2018,paid all my bills, looking to renew, please I would like to know who to call to get this letter please, thankssss

Vlesparza:

I hope you don't misunderstand, we see local uninsured patients and offer the same rate. Let me rephrase, the price offered to international patients is the price originally offered to the uninsured and is in fact how the price became about. It would be wrong to discriminate on this variable if all else is the same and if there is no reason to charge more. Letter explains specifically on this matter:

Good morning all. I have been a silent member and would love to give back (if possible)
I joined this platform in 2017 to find a hospital to have my baby in( I already had my visa in 2016 and disclosed to the VO I was going to give birth. I, however, had PROM and gave birth in Nigeria at 29 weeks, and eventually lost that baby when he turned 9 months).

I got pregnant again, and gave birth 9 months after and used the previous b1/b2 visa to travel in 2017. I disclosed at the NY POE and wasn't searched or questioned. In total, I spent about five minutes at POE and travelled to Florida to have my baby because I had family there. I spent about $12,000.

In March 2019, my husband and I applied for dropbox together in Abuja and got the 221g letter. We scheduled an appointment for Thursday, April 11, 2019.

We were a little scared as 99.9% of the people were being rejected and coming out with pink papers. The AfricanAmerican lady VO would reject about 10 people before the other VO's would complete one interview. Anyways, I do not remember much, but this is our transcript (not 100% verbatim fyi).

VO: Hello, may I have your passports
Hubs and I: Good morning, yes please (hands them over)
VO: Do you have relatives in the US?
Hubs: Yes, my brother lives in the US
I: My aunt also lives there
VO: Have you visited the USA before (types on her desktop)
Hubs and I: Yes we have severally, and even had our baby there in 2017
VO: How many kids do you have?
Hubs: One
I: We had two, but lost our first. He was, however, not born in the USA
VO: Sorry about that.
VO: What do you do?
Hubs: I work as a xxxxx
I: I work as xxxx in xxxx
VO: May I see your previous hospital bill. How much was it?
I: (Handover all bills, with all the adjustments, discounts, zero balances and Itemized bills) Our previous bill was about $11,600
VO: How much do you intend spending?
I: From our correspondence, about $14,000 (she didn't ask for any dr/hosp. correspondence, even though I had it there)
VO: So you intend to use a different hospital?
I; Yes
VO: Asks for account statement (We handover both from our various banks)
She goes through them thoroughly, and types for a very long amount of time.

VO: (Hands us a white paper) Your visa has been approved. Please pick up your passport in three business days.

In the two hours we spent, every other person had pink papers.
I want to thank @TripleKmama and @mrshappy who answered and supported all my numerous questions and requests.

What I learnt from all this is try to be as honest as possible and follow your instincts on things, especially bills.

I want to say thank you for providing me with all the research I needed and Good luck to mothers and fathers applying for Visas.

White House Weighs Broader Immigration Curbs
New rules would clamp down on countries whose nationals overstay their visas
Wall Street Journal
By Louise Radnofsky and Rebecca Ballhaus
Updated April 14, 2019 7:32 p.m. ET

WASHINGTON—President Trump and his top aides are weighing rules designed to clamp down on countries whose nationals overstay short-term visitor visas as part of a broader push for new ways to curb immigration.

The effort would target nationals of countries with high overstay rates of such visas, which include the African nations of Nigeria, Chad, Eritrea, Liberia and Sierra Leone, according to Department of Homeland Security data. The U.S. as part of a new rule would tell the countries’ governments that if rates don’t reverse, then future visas could be shorter or harder to get, according to an administration official who described the move as putting those countries “on notice.” Ultimately, nationals from countries with high overstay rates could be barred entirely, though the official said no ban is now under consideration.

https://www.wsj.com/articles/white-house-weighs-broader-immigration-curbs-11555283781

If you are truthful during your interview and your POE, this should not be an issue since the amount of time you are permitted to stay in the US depends on the purpose of your visit that you informed the Officers. If you are not truthful, it will catch up to you.

I am so happy and elated for you. Please house I have a different problem. We were issued a U.S visa sometime March last year and I have visited twice while my wife was yet to use her own. She was asked wether she was pregnant last year and she said no she was not. She is now pregnant and wants to give birth in the U.s.
I am in a fix as regarding if we should write to the embassy to inform them of our plab or just travel cos we have bought our ticket already?
Please help a brother
