It is possible the doctor is aware of the deficiency of the government hospital in handling such a delicate procedure which is why he suggested a private hospital that has equipment in good working condition.

Unfortunately, the patient's family (and a lot of you) have misinterpreted this move as one trying to corner a patient to another hospital.

The doctor has no case to answer. The patient and family should take up their grief with DELSUTH admin if they are really serious.

I will keep saying it. Our inadequacies in morality, values and ethics, either as individuals or corporations, are what sum up to the kind of leadership we have.

The leaders are just the total sum of our individual and corporate inefficiencies. Go to the banks, malls, fuel stations, churches, mosques, media, hotels, eateries, markets, business offices.....even while driving on the roads and walking along the streets.

A driver sees that you want to cross the road, he speeds up as though he wants to intentionally kill you.

There are just too many foolish people in this country, walahi.

No, you are! Does the story even sound like the whole truth? C'mon! Do you think a sane medical Dr will leave a patient, half opened, and insist the family must bring the said patient to his clinic? Does it sound logical? Let's stop being unnecessarily sentimental, please!

Corruption permeated all aspects of Nigeria.
Even medical doctors are worse. Some of them are acting beggars, as they want to be rich quick.

Delsuth shall not survive with doctors like this.

Govt investments in Delsuth go to the drain.

Citizens keep blaming political leaders for not providing standard hospitals like in overseas.

most of the doctors in public establishments do not have fear of God in them, this is menace to society, there should be a law banning doctors in the government owned hospital from owning private hospitals, to prevent cases like this.
most of them usually refer patients to their private clinics , the rot in the system is alarming, Nigeria need prayer.
of course there's, but remember Nigerian law is for the poor and middle men not for the rich and politicians

Please the issue has been misinterpreted the issue was as a result of the decay in the equipments at the hospital.

Please this statement is not true, I'm the son of the woman in question. The doctor has been trying is best and has been taking good care of my mother, the problem is that the management has refused to put the necessary equipment in place. The Dr Collins Orhorhoro has been professional and has been trying his best but the equipment on ground has been hampering his efforts.

Anyway no doctor can leave a patient open halfway during surgery and say take the open patient to my private clinic. You've killed someone be that.

I believe that the doctor didnt even start the surgery but referred them to another hospital and this SM influencer wants to make noise with it.

When being referred you can ask for another government hospital where you will be taken to not necessarily private.

Yes, you may be right of the doctor being aware of the deficiency of the hospital in handling the said case, but I tell you categorically that it a gross misconduct and against medical ethics to refer a patient that had already reported to a government hospital to your own private hospital unless he or she seek for it.
There should be other government hospitals that can handle a particular case if there are inadequacies in a certain medical administration.
This could cause the doctor a regrettable furtune if not handle with care

Cases like this always happens. Many public doctors like referring patients to their own private hospital. Government should look into this.

This story is not true, this is a fault from the management the Dr has been trying his best to ensure that all the machines needed for the surgery are working, the woman in question is my mom, though this particular surgery has been lingering over a month now due to faulty equipment I personally requested he refer her to a private hospital that has the facility he refused at first after pressure from me he suggested one, which we didn't obliged to due to the cost, she was being operated on yesterday when the C ARM machine got bad again the technicians on ground couldn't fix it and he has no option than to stitch her back after fixing five pedicle screw and rod remaining five more. I asked she should be moved immediately to a private hospital to complete it, he said it's not his decision but that of management. The Dr has been good and professional this is a fault from the management because they have 4 C Arm machine but allowed all to go bad, even the AC in the theater is also faulty. Please don't crucify the DR it's not his fault

Its good you're here to clarify the situation.
Because the story as reported was simply unbelievable to anybody familiar with medical practice.

Social media always twists things out of proportion. You tell a social media influencer/blogger about a rat (normal rat o), by the time all the bloggers are reporting it, they will be reporting a rat with 5 legs, 2 heads and 4 tails.
That's social media for you, especially in Nigeria where bloggers are hungry and desperate, and people don't think before believing reports.

Pedicle screws and rods. It must be a spine surgery.. Lumbar fusion surgery.
Doing the surgery without adequate preparation of what could work and couldn't work is a serious error on his part.
Do not believe that no public hospitals in Nigeria has the equipments. He shouldn't have started the surgery in the first place if the implements are not available. That's too crass and reeks of poor judgements. He should have referred the patient to a government facilities where such cases can be managed. Nigeria maybe bad but there are government hospitals with good management teams where good happens irrespective of the Nigerian factors.
The three orthopedic hospitals in Nigeria where cases like this are handled on daily bases wouldn't have ran out of screws and rods. If the screws and rods are not available in Nigeria, an order would've been made to bring it in within the one month it took the patient to wait for the surgery.

He should have referred your mum to an orthopaedic hospital either Enugu, Dala-Kano or Igbobi instead of his private hospital.
Now he and the management of DELSUTH will start explaining to unlicensed social media judges?

For your record, Nigerian public hospitals including the Orthopaedic that you mentioned can't perform successful spinal surgery. Your over-rated National Orthopaedic Hospital Enugu (NOHE) confined patients with incomplete spinal injury to wheel chair. Is it the NOHE that has charged a patient for six pedicle screws and used four and didn't tell the patient. As if that wasn't enough, 48 hour of arrival in NOHE, the patient was given 48 hour to effect payment for spinal decompression and pedicle screw for the surgery to be done immediately.

After payment, the narratives changed. "Our C-Arm machine just went faulty on your arrival. Let's wait for God's time". The God's time became a month after paying for surgery. Okay, let's leave that aside. The medical director, Dr Nwadinigwe who did the surgery, never followed up his patient for once in the ward after surgery to know how he's fairing and responding to treatment. In all, after a year and some months, when the patient couldn't see noticeable change given it was incomplete spinal injury, a Dr in a private hospital reviewed his case and subjected him to post-op MRI. The later MRI report was in consonance with pre-op MRI. Compression of T4 and T5 vertebrae. Bro, that's NOHE that you acclaimed is good. And Dr Nwadinigwe is the only certified spinal surgeon in NOHE.

Do u know that dr's image has been tarnished by a foo l on social media?Aside that there is the financial loss of patients running away from his practice and the possible trauma to his family.
Social media should be regulated,if not people that sent him their twisted version of events and the s tupid Omojuwa that rushed to post it without basic due diligence, will continue getting away with libelous publications like this.
