The Commandant-General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Abdullahi Muhammadu, has said the corps will not oppose the call
for the creation of State Police by some Nigerians.

He stated this during the pulling-out parade for the immediate past Zonal Commander of Zone “F”, Waheed Popoola, at the NSCDC College for Security and Management Studies in Abeokuta.

TVC News Kazeem Olowe reports that the Commandant-General who was represented by the Zonal Commander of Zone A, Andy Dateer, said the corps is for the people and will always support what the people want in the interest of peace.

Amazingly, everytime key decisions that would foster the peaceful co-existence of Nigerians are discussed, the north is always against such moves. I dont know what they're afraid of. Once such decisions are brought to the fore, the first thing that comes to their mind is disintegration...what a lazy thinking! Nigerian leaders from successive governments and administrations have suggested state policing severally in the past and the north was always the only region that would kick against it. Now, their stance is hunting them.

The earlier they welcome state policing, the better. Thanks to the civilian JTFs, the north would have been levelled by boko haram by now.
