yes, I have admissions in three different schools already but they are just tuition scholarships. I want to sit for the GRE for Visa interview purposes and possibly in preparation for Fall 2020; worst case scenario.

I have received my I-20 form and paid my SEVIS fee. I'm about to complete the DS-160 form and schedule visa appointment but my passport expires June 2019. Can I use my passport for the process despite the near expiration date? It is stated in the DS-160 website that in most cases, the passport should have an expiry date of 6 months after the visa appointment date.

I was at immigration office in Ilorin today to renew my passport but I was told to return in 2 weeks time. I was told the booklets have been exhausted and it would take 2 weeks or less to get new stock. I was also told people from nearby states like Oyo had to come down to Ilorin as there is shortage of the booklets nationwide.

I want to quickly schedule my visa appointment. Should I be patient or go ahead with the old passport which I will renew afterward? Thank you all. I eagerly await your responses.

Did you submit your Statement of account before you were given scholarship at UNH? I got an admit from them, no scholarship yet. I was requested to submit SOA.

No, I didn't. The scholarship came with the admission offer. SOA was requested for I-20 purposes. Don't submit SOA yet, send emails to the Grad Admissions team and your coordinator for scholarship consideration. They will attend to it ASAP.

Some people were given scholarships even after admission.

Yes, 50%...Environmental Science. It's okay since you have already submitted it but just that they might think since you have the capacity to pay your fees, there's no need for a scholarship; my thinking though. But still send mails to them, they will definitely respond to it. Sometimes, admissio comes before scholarship that's if you send a mail for consideration with valid arguments.

Hey Guys. I wanted to ask for your advice with taking the GRE in late may towards august/September. I know its a bit too close and I am willing to shift it till next year. Pls if you have suggestions of centres where I can prepare well preferably in the island area that will be well appreciated. Also given the timing, i would like if anyone can give advice for schools that will still meet the timing . Thanks

Don't make this decision based on money. If you are unhappy with a bad PI, the extra 3k will not matter. Do not also go to a school because you think the name is more popular. Those things neither matter or count as much as people tout it on here.

A PhD is a huge commitment, I will say you should prioritize the PI's and their method of advising students first and foremost. That is key. Do you want someone who ignores you..or does not hold you accountable. Someone who wants the best for you including internships..or someone who just wants a lab slave? Some PIs also like to micromanage their assistants and if you don't like that kinda thing it won't work for you. It is when both are on par in these aspects that cost of living could be a factor. I think Tulane is recruiting you much more which is a good sign. Some of the people in my lab got offers from supposed better schools but they still chose to come here because they felt better recruited.

I think it's left to you tbh. Anyway, I would say Tulane because it ranks better. Since it is also in Louisiana-New Orleans, living expenses are not pricey plus you already have half of your health insurance covered.

Toledo is a fun place to live. Things are not so expensive and you will have a lot of options from best buy to Walmart etc.
However, prepare adequately for the cold. It cold and windy. Along with some versaline for your lips and head caps that can cover your ear. The cold there no be small thing oo, bro.
