If the second leg final score was 5-3, Manchester would have been through to the semi final since the aggregate score would have been 5-4. Since Man C only had a 4-3 home win, they lost on the away goal rule since the final aggregate was 4-4.

Yes but Man C/Pep has the funds to build a solid back line ... obviously that is his weakness... hence Pep cannot be the “king of modern day coaches”.
