we can't.. why....??
religious differences and multi ethnicity...my thoughts though |
Re: How Can We Be Better United As A Country by Nobody: 12:25pm On Apr 18, 2019 |
Wizmax:Multi ethnicity could be tackled with state of residence (that's if we want to stay together). You are a Christian I believe? Have you meet some expose and open-minded Muslim? 1 Like |

The first step is to have a Northern and Southern Nigeria. At least we can agree to what crime is in the south. Not when people from the south steal, they are hailed, while others from the North kill people, destroy lives and property for no reason, they are said to be deradicalized and set free. |

Only way is to divide nigeria then we can be good neighbours. 2 Likes |

Osagyefo98:I am not an advocate for separation, but keeping sentiment aside; I believe a divided Nigeria would know more peace and progress than what we have here. They could make it a 20 years transitional period, so that each region could make a better deal for themselves. But the politicians are just selfish and after their pockets. 1 Like |
Re: How Can We Be Better United As A Country by Nobody: 12:49pm On Apr 18, 2019 |
goodnessme1:I am beginning to subscribe to this division idea but there is no any serious elites in the country clamouring for it. Don't you think there is another way to foster unity? 1 Like |

mekaboy:I was really hoping that the majority of the answers won't be geared towards separation, but it seem that is the popular opinion from this thread. |
Re: How Can We Be Better United As A Country by Ttipsy(f): 12:52pm On Apr 18, 2019 |
RonKenoly:We are heterogeneous in all its ramifications, so unity is Nigeria, wouldn't be possible. we preach and pretend under the umbrella of one Nigeria, while we are not |
Re: How Can We Be Better United As A Country by Nobody: 12:52pm On Apr 18, 2019 |
authehighness:I believe it common knowledge to some extent, but why are the politicians or any major influential saying anything about it. Once they are okay, they don't care about the next generation. |
Re: How Can We Be Better United As A Country by thatareaguy: 12:54pm On Apr 18, 2019 |
RonKenoly:Agreed. Nigerians clamouring for separation are not being truthful to themselves. If you believe that living in a homogeneous nation will fix your problems, goodluck. |
Re: How Can We Be Better United As A Country by Nobody: 12:56pm On Apr 18, 2019 |
Ttipsy:Okay, least assume worst case we decide to just stay together like that. Do you think we could achieve an increase in unity after some 100 years or so. From your understanding of history, do you think there was an increase in unity as a nation compare to the 60's and 70's of there about? |
Re: How Can We Be Better United As A Country by mekaboy(m): 12:56pm On Apr 18, 2019 |
RonKenoly: Ok go and arrest the freed bokoharam members and make them pay for their crime. |
Re: How Can We Be Better United As A Country by Nobody: 12:59pm On Apr 18, 2019 |
thatareaguy: Sorry, you don't believe that a homogeneous nation has an advantage over a heterogenous one? |
Re: How Can We Be Better United As A Country by Nobody: 1:01pm On Apr 18, 2019 |
mekaboy:Lol, know what you mean, my point was that I was hoping there was another I don't know about. I was really hoping for another way, would research on it though. |
Re: How Can We Be Better United As A Country by zlantanfan: 1:03pm On Apr 18, 2019 |
Its heterogeneous. If the system is shaped such that every one gets what it deserves then no problem. Just equity and fairness |
Re: How Can We Be Better United As A Country by thatareaguy: 1:05pm On Apr 18, 2019 |
RonKenoly:It does depending on the people. In Africa, if it's not tribal or religious differences, it's stuff like "you don't belong to this clan", "you are from a different household", ... etc. Africans would always find a reason to exclude someone or start a diversity conflict. Secession would not fix this problem. |
Re: How Can We Be Better United As A Country by Nobody: 1:05pm On Apr 18, 2019 |
RonKenoly: Very easy atiku became a Nigerian by referendum, so people can still leave Nigeria through referendum. |
Re: How Can We Be Better United As A Country by Ttipsy(f): 1:10pm On Apr 18, 2019 |
RonKenoly:we never in unity with one another. prior to the 1914 amalgamation, trace to 1960s, 80s....till date we are still in crisis. resulting from political, religious, Ethnic/tribal, social cultural differences. we haven't being united from the onset. which the reason why we r still less developed. unity fosters development!! I think we need to start reasoning and doing things like Western world, there by abolishing some of our religious, ethical, social cultural, and sentimental differences. that the only way we can attain unity if that would work |
Re: How Can We Be Better United As A Country by Wilstino: 1:11pm On Apr 18, 2019 |
The wide gap in education between the North and South is a big factor working against the unity. |
Re: How Can We Be Better United As A Country by Nobody: 1:12pm On Apr 18, 2019 |
thatareaguy:Yeah, but won't it reduce it? That's by the way, what is the way please? That the reason for this thread, I want to believe there is hope for a united Nigeria. So please if secession is not the way, what is? |
Re: How Can We Be Better United As A Country by Nobody: 1:18pm On Apr 18, 2019 |
zlantanfan:Okay we some stay together and try to develop an equity and fair system to favour all regardless of location right? (Makes sense though). But do you honestly believe we could get to that stage in Nigeria? |
Re: How Can We Be Better United As A Country by goodnessme1(f): 1:20pm On Apr 18, 2019 |
RonKenoly:There is no other way, the main problem of nigeria is not leaders but we dont share common value system, what makes a great country are people that shares common value system, the way igbo man thinks is not the way yoruba man thinks, the way yoruba man thinks is not the way hausa man think, oil and water can never mix together |
Re: How Can We Be Better United As A Country by Nobody: 1:25pm On Apr 18, 2019 |
Ttipsy:Couldn't agree more, but as regards your second paragraph if anybody decide to come up with a law that would lead to the abolishment of anything in this country, that person would be seen as the devil and people would do anything possible to reject it. What do you think? El rufai same something about non usage of speakers outside by all religious and also intend to start taxing churches. All what people could see from that is Christian victimization, nobody is seeing the bigger picture. |
Re: How Can We Be Better United As A Country by zlantanfan: 1:26pm On Apr 18, 2019 |
RonKenoly:That is why people are saying they want out. If you are assured of development, equity and dividend of democracy coming your based on fairness you won't be wanting out. By the way we are just deceiving ourselves, North is the biggest stakeholder in this scam and they are continuously spoon feed by whichever government (billions into fighting their self imposed terrorism, billions to find nonexistent etc). Yet no-one wants to be posted their, if they can come out and accept Nigeria to be one and developed, that means 99% of their incompetent heads governing Nigeria would be cut off, a new fairness and merit based package implemented. Can North survive without these spoon feeding and not use its population to elect based on religion or ethnicity? |

Good question. |
Re: How Can We Be Better United As A Country by Nobody: 1:28pm On Apr 18, 2019 |
goodnessme1:But sometimes those little difference in level of reasoning or how we reason is also important toward development. Or are you referring to ethnicity reasoning and not individual? |
Re: How Can We Be Better United As A Country by Nobody: 1:33pm On Apr 18, 2019 |
zlantanfan:I agree with you. Sorry which people. And why is there no a prominent Nigerian speaking up to advocate for it. |
