The Emir of Kano, Muhammad Sanusi 11, on Wednesday in Kano identified hunger and poverty as most under-developed countries’ biggest problems.

Sanusi, who spoke at the 36th Aminu Kano Annual Memorial Symposium organised by the Aminu Kano Centre for Democratic Studies at Mambayya House, said only 20 per cent of 100 people are living in poverty in the southern part of Nigeria.

According to him, the statistics account for almost 80 per cent in the North.

However, he blamed parents in Kano for the almajiri system in the city.

The monarch called on the state government to provide free education for girls in the 44 aocal government areas of the state.

Meanwhile, the state government has destroyed expired products valued at over N5m seized from traders.

The Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Sanitation Vanguard, Alhaji Jafar Gwarzo, who supervised the burning of the items, said some of the suspects had been convicted and serving various jail terms.

Truth be told, there is hunger in the Land, but God will heal the Nation and give us bread to eat and water to drink.

Awe he's at again. Why not call on state regulate almajari system. Invite commuity and give a talk on the issue. As the religious leader wouldnt you be in the best position to dissuade them from this.

Does the state government give free education to boys only?

The Human Development Index in the North will remain horrific if nothing is done about illiteracy.

Providing free meals to students twice a day, morning and evening is enough.

The meal need not be expensive. The purpose is to bribe them with meals to come to school.

N50 puff puff or buns for breakfast will do. N50 beans cooked without ingredients with only salt added with small stew added is enough for lunch.

The aim should be to get as many people into school and make sure they are taught. 4 years of qualitative free education will produce students able to read and write fluently and can solve maths fractions. This will surpass the trashy free education for 12years that many southern states provides students. They are basically illiterates after SSS 3.

Yeah.. God will come down from heaven and give you food and water to nourish yourself abi? People build nations with sweat, prudence, justice, fairness and good governance. What have we done with all the oil boom days? The earlier we restructure this country into Regions the better for us all.

P.s.. God has given us all what we need to become great and we failed woefully.. Nigeria problems are self inflicted.

Yet we are still wasting money to prospecting for non visible oil in the north, rather than build new refineries and see how Ajaokuta will work.
In all of these will still need God to help us.
