behati:Why do you think I shouldn't convert from CIMA? There's a provision for that on their website and already sent an email, still waiting for a response though. |

guitarlife2: Great piece there, but I will disagree slightly with the quoted. If by any means you can pursue a Masters degree on arrival, please kindly do. There are range of reputable companies that recruits and demands for the most recent transcripts that you have to influencing considerations for entry level jobs and junior role jobs. Did I also miss to tell you that you also have the opportunity of pursuing a co-op Maters that can grant you the needed leg in the door? You also can be hired or make necessary industrial contacts via your research(if research masters) or through career fairs targeted at students and colleges. Finally, there is this unofficial sentiments for Canadian graduates. A person with a MSc will automatically be better placed in comparison with a BSc holder when every other boxes are equally ticked. I do agree that most jobs gives a baseline qualification for BSc. but if you were an an employer, will you not rather employ a MSc. holder for same cost and while considering the added value in the long run? Indeed many factors plays out, Having an added degree is a coloured feather. 12 Likes 2 Shares |

pejuhazel:You can't use CIMA gotten through MRA or RMA to convert to CPA.. it's stated there on the website that you must have sat and passed the whole CIMA papers. Anyway, since you've mailed them, they'll give you the response...cheers 2 Likes |

ceemac: At the bolded, it may happen in naija but here you may be seen as a flight risk. They will feel you won't be happy because you are being paid less than you are worth and will leave the moment you get what you want. That's why in some cases you find out you will need to have a survival cv for a survival job. I know of someone who had to reduce years of experience to get a role with IBM. I don't think he is trying to say Masters is useless..but more like targeting your resume. If a position asks for 4 years experience, saying you have 15 years may not work in your favour. Modified: As someone has earlier said that his company will spend over 20,000 dollars to train him. In these days of Data Analysis and Lean six sigma, companies don't just view recruitment as "hit and miss", they look at it as an investment. They look at the cost in placing adverts (that's why they take refferals serious as it saves them that cost), they look at the man hours to review cv and conduct interviews, then look at the cost to train you. Most companies estimate that the first three months you are not working to your full potential, so that's a loss they are willing to take knowing you will add value later. So going with this scenario, the company would have spent close to 30,000 or more to recruit this person. Now if the person leaves after three months, that's all money down the drain. Also the HR personnel looks bad for costing them money and not doing his/her job. This is why here, a well targeted cv cannot be overemphasized. It could be reducing your experience, or even inflating it. I also know someone that made the switch to project management, claimed 7 years project experience and is doing well. The goal is to appear to be the best candidate for the role..but please, limit it to what you can defend or quickly learn. 23 Likes 8 Shares |

alt3r3g0:This is true. Please how do you reduce your years of experience or take out an an education such as a Masters degree from your resume without creating a gap in your resume? I've been worried about how to do this. Also, won't the recruiter check out your linkedin profile? Please help!! 2 Likes |

cheromel: Yes, they will check. You can create another linkedin profile. If you chose to keep your old one, remove your picture and you can just leave your initials. As per gaps... In my case graduated 2006. Modified cv starts from 2015. I did not put any gaps in between relevant experience. If they asked i would have told them I worked in a different sector and as this is my chosen field I did not bother to include it..but they did not. 7 Likes 8 Shares |

pejuhazel:I see other people have responded. The requirement to convert from CIMA is to have sat and passed ALL CIMA papers. I doubt that writing only one would make you qualify. Nonetheless, the response from CPA would be most authentic, so see what they say when they respond. |

titiclassy: This was the same case with my MIL. I just said i will be responsible for all expenses. In the question mark on the form, they will accept a letter from you in lieu of all that. So we did not put any C of O, work records or account balance for her. I included my bank statement in the application. The process took about a month and she just recently returned back to Naija. It's a lot easier for parents to get visa than siblings. 14 Likes 15 Shares |
