cheromel: Not always the case, if you have a Masters degree, there won't be discrimination against you in anyway. Labour laws constraint all employers to give equal opportunity and never to discriminate when they are hiring. Although some cards are secretly played under the table such as things like accents, background et al (as trivial as it may be, it exists) A known individual got a graduate internship position with a renowned government parastatal that required only a baseline recent BSc. in the job requirements with a recent Masters degree. Many know persons have gotten entry level roles that required base line Bachelors degree with a Masters degree. While all employers aren't oblivious of the fact that employees will keep moving, the onus lies on them to give employees the reason to stay. A Masters degree holder will move at the offer of a better whatever, a college diploma graduate will do likewise. To have idea about your long term commitments, they will usually ask the generic question such as "Where do you see yourself in the next 5 years". At the mention of this, the arrow has been handed over to you as a candidate to nail yourself where you deem fit. It is never a minus to have additional qualifications, more so if you are a new immigrant with no canadian experience whatsoever, where the relativity of your experiences may be in question, a higher degree such as a Masters may further help your candidacy during hiring. Conclusion: If you have a Masters, do kindly include it by all means, a Phd will be a no no.. 11 Likes 8 Shares |

pejuhazel: Hi, if the MOU your school will gives you some exemptions towards the CIMA, it's not a bad idea to go ahead. CIMA does have MoU with CPA Canada so please study the details here and be better informed for the journey ahead, https://www.cpaontario.ca/become-a-cpa/why-cpa/internationally-trained-accountants/cima-mutual-recognition-agreement As you requested for info directly from CPA, we'd appreciate if you could share the response to guide others. Looking forward to this. 1 Like |

Blackbuddy:Thank you, I'll make sure to share whatever response I get from CPA here. Also, I would appreciate it if you can share any tips and suggestions on how to prepare for job search in Canada. My past experience is as an accountant but I will like to focus on corporate finance going forward so any tips you can share will be greatly appreciated. |

The word Nigerians does not sound well my brother.....they might not all be Nigerians. Don’t let us just follow news and think they all true. We have heard of Ghanaians too. Christian22aa: 4 Likes |
