Good morning Mr JideSm, I lost my phone last Thursday. I can't really explain how it happened. It must have dropped inside one of the taxi I boarded home. I tried retrieving one of the SIM inside the lost phone because I was told it's N1,000 per SIM and that I must provide a national ID card which I did. Was told it will work within 24hours which elapsed 13 hours ago. Till now, it has not worked. Am seriously not happy with this. I can provide u with necessary details if u can help. Hello, I am sorry about the SIM swap experience. Checks done confirmed that a welcome back has been done on the line you provided. Kindly insert the SIM into another phone to know if the SIM is active and if not active, kindly visit the office once again for update of the SIM. Apologies.

Hello, I apologize for the SIM issue. You might need to visit any MTN office close to you together with the person that registered the SIM, both of you will have to come with a valid ID card, SIM pack or Affidavit and SIM registration details for the welcome back. The welcome back by proxy is for customers outside the country.

I mistakenly blocked my sim this morning, and it's requesting for PUK,i don't remember it,problem is i wasn't the one that registered the sim,my old friend did,and used her details,called customer care,they were telling me to make the girl call them so they will give her d numbers, babe hardly knows how to operate phone,i know she will not able to get through to them. Please how do i unlock my sim now?..
The lady stays very far away from me..jideSM

Before JideSM responds, I will post my experience. Bottom line, only the person whose details are registered with the SIM will be able to retrieve it. For me, I tried to swap a SIM my sister registered in her name, to 4G sim, and they will not do it, unless my sister is present and does the request herself. Thank God it was just a back up SIM. And my main MTN SIM is registered in my name. So I already have a 4g SIM for that line. Good luck!

Hi Simplep, so sorry for the inconvenience. Since the line is registered with your friend's details, there is need to do security checks which she can only verify. If she's unable to operate a phone, Kindly advise her to visit the nearest MTN Walk-in centre.

Please I've been having network issues on my mtn line for days now, network just disappears for hours, can't make calls or receive, can't send SMS, can't even do my usual bank transactions on the phone. Nut funny enough when I put on my wifi the data service is seamless. I went to MTN Office and a lady checked my sim and told me it was ok after putting it in another phone and was able to make calls with it.
However, I went back home and put the sim into a new phone thinking that the old phone might be the issue, but the same network issue persists on the new phone as well.
Please what could be problem?

Hello Mobolanley, sorry about this experience. You might need to visit any MTN office closest to you with a valid ID card, the SIM card and SIM registration details to update or upgrade the SIM to 4G SIM. It will correct the error and at the same time, receive 4GB data bonus on your line.

Hi NeonDee, I understand how you feel. The reason for the Affidavit and other requirements for the SIM swap is for security reasons and the rules given by the regulatory body which is the NCC. The requirements will enable MTN confirm the true ownership of the line. The valid ID card, SIMpack or court Affidavit in case you misplaced your SIM pack and the SIM registration details is what customer is requested to come with for the welcome back of a SIM.

JideSM pls did something happen to the servers? cos the signal is very,very weak almost everywhere and sometimes when data is on it just goes off for like 10mins straight.Then it comes on for another 5mins and rinses and repeats.Then it shows 'service provider side time out' and continues the cycle.Please this is very annoying and I can take up to 30mins just to search Nigeria's independence.In fact I've written this post twice because of bad network.
To make things worse at times my data drains very fast even without downloading.E.g. 225mb finishes in 45mins! with no downloading! And out of the 45mins the signal was strong for only 15mins.This makes me scared of buying data bundles.
Pls is there an error to be fixed cos I can't take this anymore.As for the bad network,I can understand sha.
When I see #justforyou I feel mocked.
Cos I'm not enjoying my experience at all.

Hello, I am sorry about the recharge card issue on your line. Checks done show that your line was rewarded with a WinBack bonus and the N200 airtime was converted to bonus on your line. The Welcome back bonus is offered to customers that have not used their lines between 30 to 180 days and your line fall in that level. You can dial *559*65# to confirm your bonus balance. ~BN
